Thanks Suke, Ive just found your channel and looking forward to digging in!…Modes have always been problematic for me. I’ll be watching this one over a few more times…Ottawa, Canada here
Thank you for watching and welcome!
great lesson really open things up, thanks , jeff Ontario Canada.
You are most welcome, glad you liked it
You have no idea what you just did to me. You gave me a light bulb moment!
I have been studying the modes for a while and have a good understanding of them but I could not identify them by ear. The way you explained it using the IV,V cadence resolving to the various scale degrees all of a sudden made them identifiable and I could taste the “flavors,” if you will, of the modes for the first time!
By the way, you’re a very good music teacher so I’d bet you have been responsible for many light bulb moments! 👍🏼👍🏼
I love this, So good to hear, I love those moments, I've had many of the years as well as my students, so glad you did too. Keep playing!
@@LeadGuitarWorkshop thank you for💡me. I’m subbed.
Awesome video Suke! You have a knack for explaining complex concepts in a much easier fashion. Keep ‘em coming please.
Thank you my man!
I’m here cuz the video about soloing was the best I ever found so if I don’t understand the modes after this 20 minutes I am gonna implode this is a warning
aight you are a very good teacher thank you for this
Give a few laps, Modes takes a while. Keep playing and thanks for watching
bravo..that made more sense
Excellent, thank you!
Great many thanks
Thank you for watching!
Points #2 and #3 really stuck out and opened up eyes...have heard these points before but your explanation really helped!
Great to hear, thanks for watching
thank you very much
You are welcome, thanks for watching
Suke, you did an awesome job explaining how the progression declares the mode.
QUESTION -
Do you know of a trick to mentally calculate that Am to D is the A Dorian mode?
I know that A Dorian is the ONLY mode with A minor as the one chord followed by a D Major chord because of a spreadsheet I use.
Some modes are easy to determine mentally. Some may require external references (at least for me anyway). Shortcuts for this kind of thing are always welcome. Thank you very much!
Thanks Antonio, I look for the 2 (musically) adjacent Major chords to help me with IV and V. If you see more than 3 Major (or minor chords) then you know if there is a key change or borrowed chords etc. I memorized the Key of G first since its the most popular I saw on Guitar. Then 1 key at a time get to know the 6 usable chords in the keys you play in most often. Thanks for watching and Keep Playing!
I clicked because you are holding the same Godin that I have.
Killer! I love my Godins, I was so honored and proud to get an endorsement from them, one of the best guitars out there. Def my main guitars
