  • This is not the first time that France had intervened in Mexico, the war is officially called, the Second French intervention in Mexico. The first one happened in 1838 and it’s also called the Pastry War. Let me tell you what happened, as we context is needed, so we can make France win the second time. Basically, the idea is that we make France win even harder this time.

As Maximilian had no children, he adopted the sons of the 1st Mexican Emperor. The only way there was for Karl Ludwig to be Emperor of Mexico would be that he was chosen instead of his older brother right from the start.

Yes and no, Maximilian did not adopt them, he only gave them a pension for life in exchange for renouncing their rights to the Mexican throne. If the empire had functioned and Maximilian died without children, a Habsburg would have ascended to the throne.

I’ll give it a 7 on realism. Fairly realistic scenario, no big notes but I would be interested in if France had chosen a different royal family how events would’ve shaken out (like one that could help them quell unrest in Mexico). Also with the stronger Franco-Habsburg ties, I think it’s likely that France and Austria would have a stronger relationship than in our timeline which could affect the Franco-Prussian War and the eventual WW1.

Germany would not get much support from them because of the blocade, and since they would be stuck in America on one side fighting Canada on a gigantic front and Mexico on another front even if they win both logistics is gonna sucks.
We need to remember that the US's strenght was its industrial capabilities who could support the world, its own military might was not nearly as impressive as the other great powers

I know there's like a shit ton of videos talking of the subject but their videos never satisfied me or even feel very realistic, and the only ones who could do it "realistic" is just Germany and Italy winning but Japan losing. So could be in a future video be about that? (If of course you intereseted or not)

i would say that the idea of mexico retaking central america is pretty dificult because even attacking "just guatemala" would obiusly be intentions to conquer all of central america and that is bad for britain and usa.
and mexico renaming itself to anything that isnt "empire of mexico" while having a monarch wouldnt happen, because it would imply either letting the empeor aside or downgrading the title.
and also, the whole french propaganda thing is the most unbelivable progapanda i have heard, i dont think it would have worked

suggestion what if France never lost Alsace Lorraine in the Franco Prussian war basically in this timeline in return for not seizing Alsace Lorraine the Germans offer France a deal that the Hohenzollern stayed in power in Spain and in French Indochina they seized that colony and how this would either help Germany diplomatically leading to possibly just German diplomatic power increasing or the League of Three Emperors never fully disbands and then a later WW1 but more regional or it never happens and it would explore some things like what happens to French Indochina will Japan go full war mode on Europe if it includes Germany r will they stay democratic or just go after China as a three way proxy war breaks out between the Russian Empire the German Empire and the British Empire in the 2nd Sino Japanese war and also i doubt that America would really ever break its isolation except for in the Americas Ofc.

This leads to the question why France did not come to Austria's aid when it comes to the German Question. After all, the Emperor of Mexico is the member of the House of Habsburg and at the very least, it will looked very suspicious from the diplomatic and political points of views that France did nothing to give Austria's support in the war against Prussia, especially after Russia just pulled out of the League of Three Emperors because the Tsar felt betrayed by Austria for supporting the Allies back in the Crimean War. And if Austria won, this will lead to Austria to be the one to unify Germany, thus having no need to annex Bosnia from the Ottoman Empire because the Austrian government at the time will be preoccupied with consolidating the administration across the newly-gained German lands while also keeping the monarchs of each German state intact. This might resulted in Prussia lost the lands in Brandenburg to Austria, which is most likely the case since this is about the unification of Germany as a whole. This will greatly upset the House of Hohenzollern and might caused the political division within what left of Prussia that located on the Baltic coasts, splintering the government into the pro-British faction due to the marriage between King Wilhelm and Queen Victoria's first daughter who is shared the same name with her, and the pro-Russian faction due to the influence of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck who really wanted to make sure France will not become more influential than it already is. As a result, another front for the Great Game is opened right in the very heart of Europe between Britain and Russia with Prussia and even the Ottoman Empire are at the center of it all. The Ottoman Empire is added here because for the time being, it will most likely be the pro-British country at the moment due to the threat of Russia and the fact that Prussia has no interest in the Balkans whatsoever. This might even led to the scenario of the Prussian Civil War eventually between the pro-British faction and the pro-Russian faction as time passed by. And it's hard to tell which side will win in this conflict. So I will leave that up to interpretation. But what I know is that one of these two factions, most likely the pro-British faction, will most likely resorted to Prussian nationalism by using the Bibles written in Old Prussian language, the Prussian poems and other survived Prussian texts to distinguish themselves from what will be remembered as the Old Kingdom of Brandenburg-Prussia. And why doing this? It's to make it clear to everyone that this new Prussian state is a Baltic country, not the German country. And assuming that it is the pro-British faction that won this war and also the one that relied heavily on the Prussian nationalism, this will led to the direct confrontation with Russia later on with the new goal of unifying the Baltic peoples under one nation by launching wars of liberation for the Baltic peoples who live under the Tsar's rule against Russia. And this will be something Britain will definitely supported because not only it will weakened Russia further but also distract the Tsar and his military from threatening the Ottoman Empire as well.

I'm surprised you didn't mention how French aspirations in Mexico were related to French pan-Latinism, they tried to expand their influence in Panama (they were the first to try to create the canal until the Americans replaced them) as well. They saw themselves as the successor of the Roman Empire and the champions of both the Latin nations and Catholic church, which is why they helped Italy in its unification process or created the term "Latin America"

Really just depends on who u ask cus mexico, latin America, and spain never recognized it. Not sure abt France. It never settled it or had control over it borders. But there was a solid chance it would be independent today. The mexican never got the chance but a proposal for tx independence would come with conditions to set Tx at its original and de facto border at the nueces and agree to remain neutral and never join the US. Tyler pushed for annexation near the end of 1845 when he knew it pass through Congress, although very narrowly. Its also why after the US invasion, more Republicans were preseant in congress to change the TX borders to what it is today, instead of the borders TX claimed de jure. This in someways a tasit admitance that the disputed territory really wasn't the USs to dispute and a flimsy claim at best. But its was too late for that not to late to fuck over the south.

Its also why after the US invasion, more Republicans were preseant in congress to change the TX borders to what it is today, instead of the borders TX claimed de jure." You're so wrong, Texas couldn't enforce its claimed territory and fell pray to numerous Mexican Raids that reached up to San Antonio, one of the reasons for Texas joining the US was to retake their land and claims from the Mexicans which the US gladly did after Polk was elected. The US gave Texas it's claimed borders and took half to clear its debt they had incurred as a republic. So no, the US didn't take away claimed territory from Texas to spite the south, it won the land for Texas and basically bought some of the territory to give back to the other state that now had the same claims as Texas did, e.i, Colorado, New Mexico/Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming.

Franz Ferdirnard as Emperor of Mexico would been a better alternate timeline for Mexico, and Mexico would have thrived under a Mexcian Imperial Dynasty who would succeed Ferdinard as Emperor of Mexico would be his son Maximillian, Duke of Hohenberg ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilian,_Duke_of_Hohenberg) as the third Emperor of Mexico. But so far, this is a great video, Mr. Rewritting History. I love the scenario so far; it is very realistic but straightforward. Excellent work; no matter what happens and what anybody says, you make the best alternate history videos out there with your abilities, and we appreciate you for putting in the effort. I really mean it! And I would love to see a part two where Mexico becomes a significant power in South America.

You’re only problem with France, owning Mexico would be that the United States would have took in most of Mexico in their war, and not just the parts that they did take in our timeline. You have to remember Americans did not want Europeans to own land in North America that’s the big problem with your alternate universe. There’s a great chance that the United States would have paid France for the territory that they own of Mexico in your alternate universe
