    Poland's early history is based on the west. the Piastów dynasty which controlled the villages of Gniezno and Poznań (this was 900 ad) . under Mieszko I (poland's first leader NOT king) the small kingdom conquered all of modern day poland which layed the foundation for a powerful polish state. a poland without these territories is mozart without a piano even before german rule lesser poland was always richer and more economically stable than the rural east.

    • @NicholasKohen
      @NicholasKohen 7 месяцев назад +12

      That would be very interesting as Burma could export some of the ideas of industrialisation to the Qing which would be big and Burma could very easily threaten British hegemony in India. For example The Burman Empire can attack and conquer all of NE India and help the sepoys in the Sepoy revolt of 1858. This would harm Britain and make Russia, France and Germany do more bold geopolitical moves. The Idea sims pretty insignificant at first but it is very interesting.

    I like your video but I dont agree with 2 things :
    1 : Bismark did not annexed any Austrian territory because he knew that they would ally with France if he did as they would want revenge for their loss. So by giving Galicia to Poland this would happen.
    So there are 2 possibilities : 1 Poland get Galicia but Germany loose Austria Hungary as an ally. 2 Poland does not get Galicia so Austria Hungary and Germany can be allies after (may be, as the creation of Poland changes a lot of things, i would argue that by creating Poland the germans have lost Austria as an ally as Poland will always be a threat to Austria because of the large number of slaves in the empire).
    2: This is ww1 tech, you cant expect the central powers to just blitz throught Russia, in our ww1 they tried that and failed once the Russians shortened the lenght of the front. They dont have tanks yet to do this kind of manoeuvers so the Germans reaching Moscow of Petrograd seems very unlikely (unless there is a revolution ofc).

      @@PomorskiWilk good idea indeed

    • @PomorskiWilk
      @PomorskiWilk 2 месяца назад

      @@DK-ig8zi And very real. The Lutheran Prussians really disliked the Catholic Bavarians and there was a strong rivalry between them in the Reichstag. On the other hand, by creating a strong Poland with Galicia, they would inevitably create a future enemy, because Poles would have claims to the Posen Region and Danziger Pomerania. That is why Germans would implement a plan like they tried during World War I - a Poland consisting of the lands of the Congress Kingdom and a separate Lithuania and Ukraine

  • @ovca410
    @ovca410 7 месяцев назад +5

    After the Austro-Prussian war, no significant parts of land were annexed by Prussia, since it would't make Austrians mad at Prussians and would therefor be easier to make alliance with them. In this alternate timeline, I think that only regions directly bordering Russia would be annexed, since it would make the said alliance easier to secure. The rest of Galicia could be then ceded trough political pressure or sold to Poland (this is more probable in my view)

    There's a aspect of this that seems to have been passed over:
    From the 1880s to the 1910s, the US received over fur million immigrants, most of them from what in this history would have been the new Poland-Lithuania. With self-rule established in the region, would that many have come over during that time?
    The loss of so many Poles coming through Ellis Island (and potentially a large Jewish population from that area as well) could have impacted American development, both economically and culturally. By the time the new version of the World War gets started, the US that ultimately enters the conflict may not be as strong or willing to join the world stage as our own did. For that matter, might the radical change in immigration patters have put the US on a completely different tact domestically that its willingness and possible ability to become engaged with the world have been completely changed, possibly to the point that there'd be an absence of American involvement in world affairs...?

    Based on our history I'm sure that Poland-Lithuania would join ultra-nationalist powers, not Central Powers. The only possible scenario where Poland-Lithuania joins Central Powers would be if Poland got Poznan and Gdansk back before the war. We would join ultra-nationalist powers right because of these two occupied regions.

      This is true, but if the project of 1658, the Republic of Three Nations, where Lithuanians, Poles and Ukrainians were to have the same rights, and the state was to consist of three nations united by an agreement, had succeeded, history would certainly have turned out more successfully for these three nations

    (So i didn't realise at the start but this is going to be quite long please read if you are curious about more of the actual history)Hi, im from Lithuania and it struck me how you only refered to poland lithuania as "Poland"(as in alternatives) and thats quite sad since no one knows the true history of Lithuania(more history a bit later) which saddens me that Lithuania doesn't get enough recognition( at all ) and MOSTLY the polish get all the credit to this alliance, btw Polish-Lithuania was quite a discriminatory nation since all the nobles had to learn polish and everyone had to talk polish or they would be called trash which nearly destroyed the lithuanian language and even though i hate Russia with all my heart still i have to say that if they didnt occupy us then the lithuanian language would've died out but since people want to do what they aren't allowed our language was basically reborn after 1863 since after that uprising the lithuanian language was prohibited, then people wanted to learn the language we had these people who would put their lives on the line to deliver lithuanian writen books for learning and just literature, those people were tortured or killed, then a lot of the nobles spoke 2 languages(mainly) Russian and they were secretly learning and talking Lithuanian which was later on since it was quite hard to make a language popular for which you could get killed, jailled, tortured. But our people were quite patriotic and little by little from the lowest class all the way to the nobles the language became widely used again.(in the early 20th century due to the russian empire weakening and trying to make reforms to prevent any rebelions) and so our language didn't die but it was close to I have nothing against the polish people actually im friends with some of them but Im against not giving credit where credit is due and btw the Polish-Lithuania(I think most of you know this but ill tell the people who don't know(things you might not know a little bit ahead)) was poorly run we had established "veto"((veto makes anything not allowed or not agreed uppon so there was no 51% 49% and the 51% wins it had to be an 100% ageement)we had 81 nobles(mb more) who would vote on certain stuff it was like a parlament it was called "sejmas")and so the nobles were easily bought by our neighbours.(now comes the part you might not know about) so now comes the "FUN FACT"(or just an interesting fact) Lithuania or LDK at the time(grand duchy of Lithuania(AND YES WE HAD 1 KING IN LIKE the XIII century)( or Lituvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė(in Lithuanian)(hence the shorter term LDK) one of our dukes known as Algirdas Led 4 or 3 battles mb wars againts the grand duchy of Moscow(that's what Russia was called at the time) and we won every single time and every single time we would come defeat them then steal their valuables(not including women actually and we didn't kill the people that didn't fight we were actually civilized for the Middle Ages(even the Holy Roman Empire was way more cruel than us) and every single time houndreds if not thousands of russians would pray to Algirdas to leave them alone and not kill them
    AND so we had tons of control over russia at the time and so even Ivan The Terrible aka Ivan IV even Ivan was also a descendant of our dynasty quite a direct one he was the son of our dutch's daughter who is considered to be the Father of ALL of russian(Peter The Great or Peter I was probably the best ruler of Russia(though Ivan The Terrible might've been better)) Peter I was a descendant of our dynasty. btw after the first Partition if we had 6 more years Poland-Lithuania whould've probably survived(thought i do not know the whole extent of the matter) we were making such fast reforms we honestly could've done it because the country was filled to the brim with corruption.
    That's it :D didn't think this would be this long, but if i made any mistakes please correct me in the reply section.

    The Spain thing is totally unrealistic on top of the already unrealistic scenario, in a scenario like this the germanophile conservatives would be more powerful inside the country, and Primo de Rivera wouldn't be dictator, and basically whatever type of uprising to proclaim a republic (wich actually happened irl before the peaceful proclamation) would be crushed and with that any hope of the republic be gone, as the only possible support it could get would be from Russia who would be recovering still, and no, the Falangists wouldnt rebel either, they would have no motive as to even exist due to Spain already being on the rise and led by the strong conservative party instead of OTL's instable II Republic.
    And the whole Prussia supporting a polish uprising in Congress Poland is simply too unrealistic because that would cause MASSIVE tensions in the polish parts of Prussia.

    Interesting what if.. only thing that just wont let me chill is the fact that Austria-Hungary sided with Germany even when they took such a huge land from them.
    Bismarck didnt take any land besides the schleswig holstein exactly because he knew they would became too hostile and Germany could use AH as an ally later on .. and with punishing them harshly it could be hard to do so or impossible.
    I think in this scenario AH would side with Russia because they both lost their parts of Poland and that would make a bond/together enemy.
    Maybe they dont have a direct connection but Hey … so does not France and UK
    This way it could be much worse for Germany actually .. but at the same time i think Britain would stay neutral because it would be already balanced war. If German have this many enemies Britain probably could see France-Russian alliance as the main thread.. Britain goal was always to mantain balance on continent so there will be no great rival for them… maybe they could even support Germany who knows xD
    Also.. dunno if Polish would be happy allies of Germany forever.. because Germany too owns a land that belongs to Poland even if its kinda disputed territories because of the large German population it was polish and many polish live there.. so I guess they would later demand it and Germany would not likely give it up = tentions are made and probably there could be some side switching or basically not helping each other.
    You can see polish state was restored in our timeline in WW1 by Germans .. but polish prefer to side with allies because they promised them more land and really independence.. not just beeing a small buffer semipuppet.
    But Hey its my opinion. Its hard to predict what ifs.. especially like many years after the change in timeline there is multiple other what ifs

    It would fall apart immediately- it's too late, national identities were already a thing, and unlike older imperial powers like Austria-Hungary and UK, there would be no inertia and institutional entrenchment that would allow this new disaster-to-happen to survive any significant length of time: There's just no way Lithuanians, Latvians, Ukrainians, and Belorussians would agree to live in a single country where only 2 (and only really 1, since that one would be obviously the most populous and richest) of those ethnicities is actually pulling the strings.
    Hell Yugoslavia was falling apart after just 20 years in interwar period, and the moment Germans kicked their doors in, everyone started killing everyone else- Croats allied with Nazis to purge Bosnians Serbians and Gypsies, Albanians (granted, not part of Yugoslavia) started collaborating with Italians and did The Funny in Kosovo (Kosovo still should just be a part of Albania today, doing a second ethnic cleansing now won't fix the first one from 80 years ago, Serbs) Serbs were in turn killing Croats and Albanians etc. and that's despite them being so much more culturally homogeneous: basically speaking the same language, eating the same food, drinking the same alcohol, and having the same history of oppression from the same imperial powers.
    This new Disaster-to-happen would have far fever of any of those social glues, and a far larger history of internal oppression, and mutual grievances- Lithuanians oppressing Belorussians and Ukrainians, Ukrainian Cossacks doing 20 uprising per minute only to at the end, sell themselves to Russia for "protection", Poles oppressing everyone else and then being shocked that the oppressed were mad about them for it (even to this day- I know what my neighbors and friends say whenever topic of discussion turns to Volyn Massacre) because "oh it was so benevolent" and "Would you rather be russified?" or "Well, at least western parts of Ukraine are actually speaking Ukrainian, not Russian, means our efforts at polonisation must've not been that bad" (those are actual quotes, the last one was said, I shit you not, by my history teacher in high school) and I doubt Latvians would just idly sit on the sidelines, eat Kļockas, and pay their taxes to a disfunctional government that can't do shit, watching as everyone else is jumping at each other's throats.
