I started playing Valheim like 8 days ago with some friends and I love it! Its like playing Minecraft for the first time but even more exciting (I can’t remember the first time I played Minecraft tho) This game is so chill and exciting at the same time😊
l love this! re: living above a butchers... historian here: they did indeed live above shop. :) I dived into church court records dating from the C17th in Herefordshire, there was a street called Butcher's Row in one town with a number of Butchers on it.. there were complaints from the neighbours as to the smell and it was definetly thought of as being poorer (that particular street, not being a butcher per se, necessarily) and looked down on somewhat. that particular butcher's row ended up being demolished when it became necessary to make larger streets through the town. I think people were quite glad for the excuse! But I love your town, and esp the vines inside the great hall - that's a lovely touch and one I'll be stealing! Thanks for the inspiration (yet again!) :)
Love the aesthetic and storytelling of this build, you keep upping yourself with each creation imo. Future build idea: Pirate town - think crooked, cramped, chaotic, vertical, run-down. Thoughts?
Bro, this is absolutely amazing. You are exercising this game to its full creative potential, you should be proud of yourself. I can be picky with builds sometimes, and trust me when I say , this is a masterpiece. Everything was done right, to keep it short. Immersive, realistic, cozy, with a real small village feel, with beautiful well thought design. Consider this too, this reminded me of Riverwood from Skyrim, and then I realized it is actually what Riverwood should have been. How about that, You literally designed a better town than the first town you discover in one of the most major successful video games in the past couple decades. Cheers!
I like your build a lot, but if I can just give one small criticism, Blacksmith workshops are always completely shut off and dark since Blacksmiths need to be able to see the hue of the metal and colour of the flames very clearly, and natural light interferes with that.
This by far is my favorite build you have done Smitty and I loved your pagoda. IRL I've always wanted to live in the woods but this right here will have to do, for now. The thought put in to this build was simple yet cozy and it washed a sense of happiness and warm feeling over my face. Your title says it all, "MOST BEAUTIFUL". Beautifully done Smitty, keep on keeping on cant wait for the next one!!!
Wow thank you so much! I grew up in an area with lots of lakes/forests so I’m always going to be biased towards building in this biome! So happy that you enjoyed this as much as you did and appreciate the support! :)
This conrtruction gave me Flotsam vibes so much (first city you visit on The Witcher 2 surrounded by all this big trees without alterate nature itself) I love it!
I love how your able to use the terrain to build this amazingly realisticly organic looking build. I binged 6 of your videos right now.... and just love your talent and craftmansship. :3
This video made me really happy. It brought back many memories of Skyrim, more precisely of Riverwood. The nostalgia it emanates was overwhelmingly charming and I thank you for that. Beautiful build as always!
Gorgeous and Really well-integrated! I think that's been the hardest thing for me to get the hang of - actually working with the environment rather than just flattening everything and having a very haphazard set up. I'm definitely going to check out that mod - I used plant everything for a while, but Things Happened so I'm a little skeptical of it now (though I know that's basically Versaugh's favorite mod).
Thank you! Yes I do my best to make my projects feel integrated into the land instead of bending the land to my projects. It’s a subtle difference but I think it adds to the authenticity of the build for sure. Definitely check out better creative! Such a great mod for creative building since it has all game assets i.e. plants, rocks, mobs, etc.
I really love your building style! I built my house in Black Forest, in a similar manner to your structures; damn it’s just such a cozy vibe. I also am a fan of your editing! Simple and to the point, well spoken, nice music, good visual. You’re checking all the boxes my friend 🤌🏼
12:07 The butcher shop having residential above could easily make sense without having to live in a stench. Refrigeration is a much older technology than people may realise. A good butcher or even a good village/castle would have a building or room dedicated to keeping meats and other perishables cold and fresh. It could be as simple as a dirt/stone cellar packed with ice from the cold weather or it's own dedicated building. As a building it typically starts a good few meters underground and rises up to about 8-12 meters above ground (the hotter the place the higher it is) , pretty wide at the base, circular typically and a coned roof with plenty of ventilation starting from about 50% of the height above ground.
This is wonderful! I play Valheim since Release, as a Solo-Player, but I played Valheim, together with some others, like 2 Years ago, for some Time. All Germans like me and there was a crazy French Guy, which build Streets with Signs to every of or Houses, which were spread across the Island. And one Time, he showed me the Town he build, with a Castle. It was beyond crazy. And he had a lot of awesome Details, too. But this is even more amazing! It is perfect! Respect! Why should none live above the Butcher Shop? In many Countries, People do this, even nowadays. They, and the People back then, in medieval Times, were not so sensitive, with such Things. 😁
Great work on the construction! I really appreciate the way you designed the burial chambers. Additionally, during the medieval era, people may have become accustomed to unpleasant smells and likely didn't pay much attention to them.
Thank you! Yes, someone in the comments provided a little history lesson about butcher shops back in the day, and how people would live above and smells were always an issue 😂
you're right they "might not make sense resource wise if you're playing survival" for most other players maybe, but I play fashion souls! The town hall looks great, a little realism from medieval town development would have it as close to the town square as possible.
I've been enjoying the same kind of creativity base building in No Man's Sky... I just stumbled upon this vid and loving how everything looks and the creative abilities... 😮
ive never heard of valheim until now and your build style here makes me think of skyrim and minecraft combined into one game! really considering getting this game now
I like the attention to details, to story, to variation, to center pieces and hideouts... The progression of creation in this chill enviroment.. I rly did like this video. Well done and thank you
Man when you were mid way through your second house and said, "I was really liking the result... but then a troll raid commenced and destroyed everything." popped into my head.
History fact: Blacksmith buildings were usually dark places in a side in order to see precisely the color of heated metal and know if it was at the right temperature to be forged. The other side was a bit brighter with the anvil in order to see your work
What a beautiful village! A water mill would be a wonderful addition, if there is water of course. I am so happy your talk through videos are back! 🙏 The cinematic was top notch, as always!
Another spectacular build! You are a phenomenal builder, but beyond that you create stories through your builds and capture a 'feeling' that makes your builds art too. I think one of the things that makes your creations so special is that you essentially double-down on the Dev's commitment to creating a feeling with the various biomes and utilize that with judicious compliment/contrast. Well done sir!
Thank you! I actually totally agree that more core-wood integration would’ve made more sense here. Will have to do another Forest village in the future that utilizes that style.
babe wake up new pastoral fantasy just dropped-- Beautiful build and a lovely story to go with it, as always 🙂 The well came out looking wonderful as the town centrepiece 👌are those the dvergr wood beams? They're so nice and chonky...
Thanks EriKant! I agree the well really works! It’s subtle but one of my favorite parts of the build. Nope not dvergr just some layered wood beams! Glad you liked it and appreciate the support as always :)
amazing ,as everything u do! i took a lot of ur ideas from ur videos and use it to build places and buildings when i play valheim with my GF and she love it ! thank you!
Such a beautiful town! I love it! If only i didn't have a potato ... would love to do some really cool large builds. I wish we had a Hoe radius in game for the really nice path detailing with regular path and grass etc even the size of the paths ... they are too huge by default.
Thank you Canorous! Hopefully as the game is continually optimized you’ll be able to build bigger and bigger! Totally agree that hoe radius would be a really helpful tool.
was I the only one waiting for the troll lol beautiful village , but imagine the shock if at the end you had a troll rampage guess the black smith missed up not having weapons lol
that well looks really nice, I initially thought that it was supposed to be a bell before you said it was a bucket. A big bell in the "town center" makes a lot of sense
man imagine a multiplayer valheim server, lets say about 150 - 200 people with small villages dotted around where players could occupy certain roles such as a butcher, blacksmith, town guard , barkeep with a sort of roleplay setting. Other players might choose to be thieves and bandits that could rob people traveling with carts or otherwise just traveling around, would be fun if it was done correctly with restricted building rules and building protection, so that you're not walking along past a derelict destroyed mess of half built wooden boxes.
Valhiem is a special game. I hope the development are proud of themselves. They deserve a lot more praise than what they got.
100% agree. They truly have created something special. Definitely one of, if not the, best Indie game of all-time for me.
There is nothing special about this game....
Is this on Xbox One?

The butcher shop being pressed up against the cemetery while the town has no pigs/farm gives me bad vibes in this pretty place lol
Beautifully enchanted. The location couldnt be any more beautiful
The Troll Watching you build this: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Ooooh pirate town. I’ll have to write that idea down that would a fun one!
to je fakt dobry napad
Man was in a weird headspace and really needed this, thanks man you're great
14:56. Did this man make a DISHWASHER in Valhime!!! 😮😮🤯🤯🤯
