    Very good tip and something I forget to work on when I practice. Maybe now I remember next time.

    Good stuff again Phil!
    THS I use the arrows. Most sport shots I try to use the tracers.

    I was just noticing the one spot issue with my line yesterday. I was thinking the same thing that I needed two spots. Awesome. Great story too!!!

    I'm not sure if I'm the only one but the way I find my target is looking at the Boards on the Lane (right by the Foul Line) which is the same as looking at the Dots on the Foul Line. The challege part is that not all Lanes created the same, I mostly bowled on AMF HPL Lanes and when I go somewhere else for a vacation and bowl on Brunswick Anvile Lanes, they're different but eventually I started get used to it. As for Wood Lanes, nah I never get used to it.

    My home bowling center only has the foul line dots and the arrows, that is it so it is the arrows and break point for me. It would be nice to have those tracers as it makes finding and seeing the break point much easier.

    I draw an imaginary line from the 10 board near the break point all way down the the first set of dots. This helps me also adjust my angle on where to stand.

    Not all lanes having tracers or range finders is annoying. In So Cal where I live its almost half do half don't. Personally I do what Phil does, get my eyes/center chest lined up w my breakpoint @ 9 board at tracer, then draw eye back to my target at arrows. I target the front of the range finders only for my 7, 4 6 10 spares. Hard to do when the lanes don't have range finders :( Wish they were standard like arrows and dots

    I point my feet, hips and shoulders in line atbreakpoint... Watch one specific board at the dots and when throwing my hand will do follow threw the exit board. 3 target system.

    If you are using the tracers down lane as the breakpoint focal, what do you do when you go in to a house which doesn't have the tracers?

    Personal preference for the target just make sure you know your line and the target is within your line

    The legendary Buddy Bomar appeared in a 1946 Popular Mechanics article that featured the "Rifle Sight" targeting system. From what I understand, Bomar came up with the approach dots and arrows, while Lowell Jackson came up with the 7 foot locator dots on the lane presumably because he was nearsighted. Does anyone else out there have any more information about this?

    Only problem I see in using the tracers or range finders as I refer to them , is not all houses have them , I believe Brunswick houses have them and AMF doesn’t. So that makes it a little more difficult for me when I don’t have them

    I play inside and target the pocket on first shots. It is stupid I know. I have tried targeting 10, 6, 3 pins, dots ,arrows, foul line, pins on other lane, just targeting the pocket works most of the time.

    We have no downlane markers, just arrows and dots. How do you target downlane?

    How many time can a ball be plugged before it ruins the integrity of the ball

    • @jfabritz
      @jfabritz Год назад +4

      I don't think the integrity of the ball will ever go bad unless the plug material is defective, but repeatedly drilling and plugging the ball in different thumbhole spots will impact the ball's behavior. Ball plug density is pretty similar to the coverstock density. The weight block density is significantly higher than the plugging material, so the more holes you take out of the core, the more the dynamics of the ball change from factory spec. Also, taking a lefty drilled ball and converting it to rightly (and vice versa) might put ball plug into your track, which will cause the coverstock to act a little squirrelly down lane.
