These old game reviews are amazing! I've been watching almost every video you've released since I've found your channel. Thanks for making amazing videos.
I'd love a remaster! I feel like the Forza Horizon series is a good way to get the same enjoyment out of a racing game with more modern improvements. But I'd also be a little iffy after Midnight Club: LA, I felt that one was sort of a backtrack from 3 Dub Edition. Can't quite place why, but it really didn't grab my attention like 3 did.
for real we need street racing games to make a comeback. I grew up with NFS and Midnight Club but seeing them die off by 2010 kinda sucked. Now I just play Forza, but it's not really the same at all because of the lack of mods, brands, cops etc. NFS plummeted really hard with 2015 and Payback. Maybe Heat can bring that back, and maybe Rockstar can get the San Diego studio to start working on another MC.
I remember playing this game soooo much, and my favorite car was the 300. So when I turned like 19 I finally got one. I thought my mom was gonna be pissed but she was like , oh you got your car !
Yes! I honestly love MC2 the most, but MC 3 is a great title. The soundtrack hasnt aged too horribly either. I love the QOTSA track, Little Sister in that.
I always though it was very funny that Qotsa - in my head was on nfs underground 2 and qotsa - little sister was on MidnightClub 3. They're from the same album. Track 2 and 3. Its as if both were fighting for the same track, but one of them lose and had to get the previous/next one.
@blackandgold51 the reason that ruined nfs: New nfs games have bad storyline (since stories on nfs made it popular) Mediocre physics (except nfs underground 1-2, nfs most wanted) Micro transactions And letting EA destroy black box's reputation (my opinion btw)
@Christian C., Need for Speed Underground 1 and 2, Hot Pursuit, Hot Pursuit 2010, Most Wanted (2005)/Black Edition, Carbon/Collector's Edition, Underground, and Heat, as well as the Test Drive Unlimited Trilogy (1, 2, and the upcoming Solar Crown), also had some good racing game elements. Some cues from Burnout would also be nice.
Growing up in Atlanta it was so cool to get dub edition when it came out. I knew all the locations and seeing places I had literally visited in game was so cool to me. I get the same enjoyment playing gta5 now that I’ve lived out in SoCal past 10 years.

I've beaten this game four times. Twice on the original, and twice on Remix, all 100%. I can say every single playthrough was an absolute joy and it still remains my absolute favourite racing game to date. My absolute favourite thing about this game was how it teased you with the Lambo Murcielago throughout the career like "oh you want this? you know you want this. keep playing and you might get it". It was a goal that you absolutely wanted to work towards because who doesn't want to own a sick Lambo in their garage? Great game, easily one of the best PS2 games I've played.
How ironic, you uploaded this video right when I was listening to Ash's Meltdown! (the album), haha. I love this review like the rest of them, keep up the good work mate.
I was given Midnight Club 3 Remix as a birthday present back in 2006-7. For the 9 year old me it was too difficult and couldn't go further than 70%. I took it to 100% this April because it was one of my favorite games. I bought it 3 times, 2 on PS2 because of scratched DVD and one as a PS Classic. Totally worth it.
THANK YOU AND THE COMMENT SECTION for this review and the comments. They literally brought tears to my eyes as the review was exactly what I thought of the game and the community shares my feelings. This game has a special place in me with its game play, soundtrack, and the frustration it brought upon me when I was trying to beat a f- race for an hour and the feeling of accomplishment was priceless. I dont care if its a remaster or a whole new game its one of my dreams to play a game on this level today which is made by R*. Especially the cars and the customizations..... man I miss it....
MC3 is probably one of my favorite games of all times. The customization, the unique choice of many cars, and how face-paced the races it makes it a unique experience compared to many others, even MCLA because in this game, you actually FEELS that you're going very fast around 250-300 mph

Okay, so it's not just me? I just started playing the game for the first time in maybe a decade or longer, started a new career since I wanted to re-acclimate myself, and after the first three or four races the difficulty spike is insane! I'm still having fun and the nostalgia is real, but man... I don't remember it being this hard as a kid.
I remember when playing this game if I ever had a particularly slick race and won it that I would spend a lot of time watching it over and over again in the replay because this games reply system was awesome. Yes, i clicked so fast on this notification, awesome video as always MC3 is an awesome game, i recently started playing the remix version, i only played the original in the ps2 and the psp version, (which btw was also good just had some of the longest load times of a psp game)
I played this game for hundreds of my childhood hours. I think i completed it 3 times. This time was wonderful, not only because of all the races you could take part in, but also because of map exploration. Just cruising around was so much fun back then.
The thing about damage to licensed cars is unfortunaly true, even to this day and is one of the reasons why working with licensed cars is such a pain in the ass and why several big racing titles have such simple damage models.
this was actually the last game i played on my original xbox before it conked out and stopped reading disks. 100%'ed it and is still a game i wish i could play again some day. Cemented my love for the MC series as a whole.
It's been way too long since I played Midnight Club. Time to start the series up again from the beginning, just like you did. Tomorrow after work, it's me, MC and my PlayStation 2! Thanks. :) Great review, by the way. Interested to see what the next one will be!
The sad thing about this review is you missed a feature not available in Career mode; Powerups and Capture The Flag. The powerups in this game are BANANAS. You get your average stop and reverse control powerups, then there's Disruptor that BLINDS YOU! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Dude, you just made a pun on accident! How, you ask? Well there is a power up in arcade mode (the place where these gamemodes are) where you can freeze another opponent and they have basically NO control over their car and they keep sliding in the direction they were driving until the power up wears off. P.S. the pun was made when you said "Just the tip of the iceberg" P.P.S. yes I know that it's just a figure of speech
Hoooooo boy, nostalgia has never felt better! I remember I didn’t have a memory card when I played this, so I always had to start from the beginning of the career. I never got very far so it didn’t matter.
6:57 - "Imagine Midnight Club 3 on the RAGE Engine" Well... it is! Kinda... The Angel Studios (R* San Diego) Midnight Club engine was their only proprietary engine at the time, as all GTA's until GTAIV used the third-party RenderWare and later the MC engine basically became the foundation for the RAGE engine as they partenered with NaturalMotion to do the amazing Euphoria Physics engine. So a bit of a trivia there.
13:56 Im pretty sure, unless I am remembering incorrectly, that muscle cars had a roar ability, not agro, which sent out a shockwave that just pushed everything out of the way. I loved the muscle cars in this game, so I used that all the time lol
looking back at it, it was a really difficult game. i've always loved it ever since i got it as a birthday present (i believe?) when i was 8. in fact, i had a fit of rage due to this game and accidentally broke my PSP, but that's another story. if we could see a remaster of this game being ported to pc, that'd be a dream come true, but that's up to rockstar.
I played both the Xbox and the PS2 Ports and I have to say the Xbox port is better, even though R* got lazy and kept the same limitations and graphics from the PS2 port and I knew that right after I noticed that just as the garage screen starts to fade in the the triangle and the cross from the PS2 port will appear for a split second and then immediately switch to A and B. The frame rate is kinda the same when racing just not as bad as the PS2 when there's a lot of traffic onscreen and just a little less laggy when it's raining or snowy so that makes it a little better, so if you have the OG Xbox you should definitely get it but if you already have it for the PS2 then you shouldn't because the only deference is that the Xbox port has: Way better frame rate in the garage Widescreen support 480p support (I think because it doesn't say it) Faster loading time (with no music in the background for some reason) That's it really, both ports are playable and can be finished so that's why it wouldn't matter if you already have it for the PS2.
No music during loading! Thats what made the best loading screen of its time, the music made the loading enjoyable and not boring or annoying, unlike most other games of its time
The tracks itself were also very creative. I remember every single of of them even today. These matches perfectly to the opponent itself. The albanese guy named Fard drove races in the catacombs of Paris because he was a wellknown criminal. The perfekt escape car was his little Renault Clio because of the narrow streets. Then he also was very amused that you won his Renault. The police would rather chase you than him. "Watch yourself tourist. Hahaha." The cars also has different handlings, different speed etc.
Someone recommended this game to me today and now after watching this I definitely wanna play it one day, it looks awesome! (And this is coming from someone who isn't too into racing games)
Grew up on Midnight Club 3 and only tried Need for Speed Underground 2 recently. NfS has more realistic physics (IDK if that makes it better), more race variety, and slightly more customization options. MC3 on the other hand has way more vehicles, and a better variety of them, which kinda nigates NfS advantage with customization. In both games I pretty much just make nearly undrivable drift machines, but it is hard to beat a 64 Impala for sliding, that rear end is just massive!
The absolute worst is when you're doing so well you gain first place, have a few checkpoints left and that traffic car comes out of nowhere and fucks everything up. Or you get on the jump and can't control the car's l landing. Oh the rage lol
Man, I remember playing through this game back then as a kid...it was the most difficult racing game I ever played and the tuning is just so fun in that game (I've played the Remix version of course ^^). Just a childhood game which will have a place in my heart :D
I beat it back in the day. I remember breaking a controller once I got to the Supercars. It's an incredible racing game, and I love playing it over. You can also download this on PS3.

The thing about damage to licensed cars is unfortunaly true, even to this day and is one of the reasons why working with licensed cars is such a pain in the ass and why several big racing titles have such simple damage models.
Great reviews underrated channel
Thank you so much I've been waiting for this one since I subbed
this was actually the last game i played on my original xbox before it conked out and stopped reading disks. 100%'ed it and is still a game i wish i could play again some day. Cemented my love for the MC series as a whole.
I'm so sad that this game isn't on PC or next gen console yet... We need to make a petition!
It's been way too long since I played Midnight Club. Time to start the series up again from the beginning, just like you did. Tomorrow after work, it's me, MC and my PlayStation 2! Thanks. :)
Great review, by the way. Interested to see what the next one will be!
Color shield Productions one of my most favorite gaming review documentary RUclipsrs out there!;)
>shield
Yes finally ( but you should have put this out before i ordered a ps2 copy lol ) anyways keep up the great work man I love your videos.
The sad thing about this review is you missed a feature not available in Career mode; Powerups and Capture The Flag.
The powerups in this game are BANANAS. You get your average stop and reverse control powerups, then there's Disruptor that BLINDS YOU! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Snowtato XL WHOA I had no idea these existed
Dude, you just made a pun on accident! How, you ask? Well there is a power up in arcade mode (the place where these gamemodes are) where you can freeze another opponent and they have basically NO control over their car and they keep sliding in the direction they were driving until the power up wears off.
P.S. the pun was made when you said "Just the tip of the iceberg"
P.P.S. yes I know that it's just a figure of speech
@@enoztheprotogenshadeyboii7074 ah yeah the Ice, i pick that powerup the most
Hoooooo boy, nostalgia has never felt better! I remember I didn’t have a memory card when I played this, so I always had to start from the beginning of the career. I never got very far so it didn’t matter.
6:57 - "Imagine Midnight Club 3 on the RAGE Engine"
Well... it is!
My first racing game and I loved it in ps2
This video helped me discover your channel lol I love this game
one of my favorite racing games and one of my favorite reviewers combined into one video 👌
This whole series was amazing ❤ But when i was a kid my favourite to play was midnight club 2.
Muscle cars have the ROAR ability where the vehicles in front of u get pushed away giving u a space to drive thru
its one muscle they forgot and it is a ford mustang 😂
muscle car *
Another great review from colourshed! I'd be happy to see a review of Juiced one day.
I replay this game about two weeks ago I can tell, you can't really blink. you blink you lose.
I've been so hyped for this
13:56 Im pretty sure, unless I am remembering incorrectly, that muscle cars had a roar ability, not agro, which sent out a shockwave that just pushed everything out of the way.
I loved the muscle cars in this game, so I used that all the time lol
You are correct sir
looking back at it, it was a really difficult game. i've always loved it ever since i got it as a birthday present (i believe?) when i was 8. in fact, i had a fit of rage due to this game and accidentally broke my PSP, but that's another story. if we could see a remaster of this game being ported to pc, that'd be a dream come true, but that's up to rockstar.
The motion blur on this game is beautiful
I played both the Xbox and the PS2 Ports and I have to say the Xbox port is better, even though R* got lazy and kept the same limitations and graphics from the PS2 port and I knew that right after I noticed that just as the garage screen starts to fade in the the triangle and the cross from the PS2 port will appear for a split second and then immediately switch to A and B.
The frame rate is kinda the same when racing just not as bad as the PS2 when there's a lot of traffic onscreen and just a little less laggy when it's raining or snowy so that makes it a little better, so if you have the OG Xbox you should definitely get it but if you already have it for the PS2 then you shouldn't because the only deference is that the Xbox port has:
Way better frame rate in the garage
Widescreen support
480p support (I think because it doesn't say it)
Faster loading time (with no music in the background for some reason)
That's it really, both ports are playable and can be finished so that's why it wouldn't matter if you already have it for the PS2.
No music during loading! Thats what made the best loading screen of its time, the music made the loading enjoyable and not boring or annoying, unlike most other games of its time
Vaibhav Mamle agreed
These videos are so amazing!
I grew up playing this game on ps2 and it always had that early 2000s feel and aroma to it. Even the box art looks like it came from 2001.
YEEEEE!! Can't wait for the MCLA review.
IMO mc3 had better gameplay, but i hate that they got rid of the personalities of the rivals, i love 2 more but 3 was definitely good
Yeah I found the same too. MC3 was great but I just liked MC2 because of the personalities and the little cut scenes.
The characters and cutscenes were cheesy but added much personality.
Meh
Wow. Color me impressed. Can't believe I didn't play this game growing up, because it looks like some serious fun.
Someone recommended this game to me today and now after watching this I definitely wanna play it one day, it looks awesome! (And this is coming from someone who isn't too into racing games)
You should give Juiced Hot Import Nights 2 a go 'u'.
I feel the same way
this game is amazing id LOVE a remaster idgaf about licensing FIGURE IT OUT THIS IS THE GREATEST ARCADE RACER OF ALL TIME!!!
The absolute worst is when you're doing so well you gain first place, have a few checkpoints left and that traffic car comes out of nowhere and fucks everything up. Or you get on the jump and can't control the car's l landing. Oh the rage lol
Congrats on 50k🔥❤️
I realy love your videos, keep up the good work!
Nice man, I grew up with this on the PSP. Good ass game and reminds me of better times.
Man, I remember playing through this game back then as a kid...it was the most difficult racing game I ever played and the tuning is just so fun in that game (I've played the Remix version of course ^^). Just a childhood game which will have a place in my heart :D
Great video, brings back memories. Would be cool to see SRS (Street Racing Syndicate) as a follow up.
I beat it back in the day. I remember breaking a controller once I got to the Supercars. It's an incredible racing game, and I love playing it over. You can also download this on PS3.
one of my favorite racing games ever
I cannot tell you how good this time of my life was I was 15 I had all the gtas on the shelf gt3 and 4 mgs2 snake eater , nfs underground 2 and 1 , all the top games max Payne. None of this bullshit half a game battle royal crap 💩 take us back please. I can say I was alive at the pinnacle of gaming.
That 2003/4/5 is king! Through in SSX, Pro Evo and all the killer ps2 1st party games and it was an incredible 18 months or so. Nowadays doesn't come close
Grew up with this game and I recommend that you listen to all songs cuz they fill old players's hearts till this day cuz everything real big
