- The newest diagnostic tool, the PPDRAW, allows technicians to easily detect parasitic draw issues. The PPDRAW Draw Monitor can be used to monitor key-off or parasitic battery drains allowing the user to identify excessive draws which makes parasitic drain testing extremely simple and quick!
It appears Matco jumped on locking down an exclusive distribution deal here in the U.S. Can't find it for sale anywhere online in U.S. Did see one that sold recently in France on eBay (for about $200) that came in international language packaging. FYI.
I emailed the company. They said Matco didn't have an "exclusive" on it, but they did buy up the entire first run. Another month or two & more should be hitting the open market.
I guess that's what you have to do when you don't manufacture anything.
I have such tool Bought from Matco dealer right after show in Orlando. Only issue I have with it is battery life is a touch weak if you say have a 250ma draw. It eats battery up pretty quick. Large battery would have made it a better tool. But overall nice tool.
Just bought one and initial overview it seems like a solid, high quality unit, as any professional tool should be. Several ways to measure and find draw and this will help I'm sure. The name though.... should have come up with a better name lol. Better not catch anyone touching my PP draw.
Something tells me BMWs FRM is gonna love this thing. Cool idea though. Should work well on stuff with fewer than 75 modules.
when does it release for purchase?
I emailed the company. They said Matco didn't have an "exclusive" on it, but they did buy up the entire first run. Another month or two & more should be hitting the open market.
It's currently available through Matco, and we will have more arriving soon!
Will you be making a 24 volt version?
Currently 12V only. No plans at this time for a 24V version, but it certainly something to consider.
@@PowerProbeUSA as someone that works on coaches this would be fantastic since most coaches have both 12 volt and 24 volt systems

The power probe website shows no inventory as of yesterday. Amazon does not show it in search results either. We would like to buy 1 or 2 but can't find them. Any update on when/where to go?
You guys better make them available before I modify our current memory savor to measure draw.

When will be released or where we can buy it???

Nice, und useful. Does having spikes and drops alarm? Probably should be.
Cool, however 10 amps sometimes happens when you first disconnect an battery and hook an amp meter up. I feel like I would have to replace fuses in it all the time.
You plug it in before removing the battery with the vehicle off, if you have an amp clamp, there is no spikes, if your using a multimeter, buy an amp clamp. So much easier
@@phill3144 if thats the case, might as well just use the amp clamp. The only use of the ppdraw at that point is the recording over time
Correct
If used correctly there is no spike with this tool as there is no break in power supply so nothing is resetting
How much
MSRP $249!
Should we still wait 5-10 min for all the modules to turn off before we disconnect the battery ? As in will it try to power all the modules giving a false draw reading ?
That is probably best practice. If you are careful you can connect and get readings without disturbing anything.
Generally, a vehicle's modules go through a 5-10 minute shutdown period after the car is turned off and the vehicle's doors are closed/locked etc.
If that cycle is already completed and you can connect the PPDRAW and supply power without opening doors or activating anything, there should be no need for a second waiting period.
Where is the link to purchase it?
You can currently purchase through Matco!
@@PowerProbeUSA what about UK!!!!!
Cornwell dealers have them in stock!!
Had been waiting for a tool like this for a car that I eventually traded in because neither I nor our mechanic could solve the parasitic draw issue.
All you had to do was hook up an amp meter in series and pull fuses until draw drops. Why couldn’t your mechanic do that?
@@mikesabin8568 I believe that the fuse controlled multiple things in the dash and he bypassed something, but couldn't guarantee that it would work. It did work for about 6 months, then it would drain the battery overnight.
@@GreatDataVideos well lets assume that the fuse only went to the dash… i dont know unless i look at a wiring schematic. If it did, the next thing to do was to check can data lines to the cluster to see if any of the networks were still communicating keeping the cluster alive.
Buy an amp clamp, this tool wont help you. If you cant find the draw with a multi meter. This is the same. Never pull fuses, measure across the fuses. Then check with an amp clamp all modules or conponents on that fuse
@@phill3144 pulling fuses is just fine. I still pull fuses on newer cars and it still works. It can wake up modules, sure, but if the draw remains, put it back in and it doesn’t take to long before the draw goes back to what it was before. Never had any problems finding draws pulling fuses and still use the method today. It works just fine

Cable is way to short
Not with the app. No need to look at the tool if you are using the app

Everybody asking where to get one see your Matco dealer to purchase
