Sounds odd that Hawaii can’t really proof that Celebrity cruise came close. Yeah right. In regards to cruise discounts, we may see more of this as MSC puts more monster ships in US . Already MSC is locating ships in Caribbean, that will include Martinique and Guadeloupe. We are considering MSC with these new routes!

Oh they were close. A lot closer than they should have been, and they know it. It is the reason Royal Caribbean Group issued that half assed statement immediately after it happened.

Mornin' Doug!! Interesting about the potential summer discounts. It seems supply and demand is still alive in the cruise industry! I'm not going to be able to snag up a cruise - living here in NE Indiana, getting there is half the cost - but that won't stop me from checking it out!
All cruise ships are tracked, have GPS running at all times. There's NO WAY there'd be insufficient evidence they were or were not within 3 miles of the coast. This makes no sense to me.
Exactly. They were close (not sure how close, local sent me pics they took). Parent company made a statement halfway admitting fault. A dirty game when money is involved.

Doug, I do not think that the crisis in the Red Sea has anything to do with US Cruise capacity. The Red Sea only had 1 MSC ship and that only in the winter. The Persian/Arabian Gulf had about 6, but again that season stops around April as way too hot in the summer. The impact was that they could not go through the Red Sea/Suez canal back to Europe for the summer season and had to go around Africa, adding around 2 weeks and needing to cancel a few sailings to deal with this. I think what you get in US is the result of making ships bigger and scrapping smaller ships. That increases the total capacity and it restricts the ability to operate more unique boutique itineraries going to smaller ports. So for frequent Cruisers who like to experience new places it becomes harder and that means you need to attract many new cruisers to fill the extra capacity.
Fair point and correct, just one of the many factors the analyst said. They did a lot of shuffling over the past few months pulling inventory from the Eastern Med. Especially Celebrity and NCL. I saw on social media about a family Carnival Celebration cruise was canceled on them. The mom accidentally posted her booking ID. Then someone went online canceled her cruise and probably took a free ride at this family expense. Do you have anymore information on this family? I feel so sad for the kids that missed out.
I reported it like last week or maybe the week prior. Nothing new that I have seen. Ccl offered them FCC. Unless I missed something.

I am fairly certain the GPS showed the Celebrity ship was not as close to the coast as the activists claimed. That is why there was nothing to pursue. Have a great week, Doug!

Insufficient evidence. Would not AIS or the on-board digital track history provide the answer? The cruise line could have been ahead of the PR game by issuing a Press Release with the track they had. AIS is viewable by the public.
Oh they are full of crap. Money talks. It was def closer than 3,000 feet. I can look at the AIS and see that.
