- My unboxing and initial thoughts on the new ZT 0462. This knife at $240 is quite a nice piece, especially compared to some other Sinkevich designs released lately!

That smaller Sinkevich was too tiny and curvy to be comfortable. The 0462 looks nice and comfy. I plan on buying one!

Love this knife. The curve of the handle gives me a fantastic, comfortable grip. Beautiful grind with colors popping off the blade in the light. My only knock is that the pocket clip has zero retention. Thinking of flipping it around and gently bending it against the bottom of the handle to give it a tighter fit. If I had a vise I'd use it. But other than that it's a winner. Nicest looking carbon fiber I've seen on a knife.

I really love this knife. It's going to be difficult to resist it. If the scale was regular CF or even G-10, with standoffs, it would be even better.

De-branding and red weave and 20CV make it for me. 3.75"@3.8oz with .157 stock. Specs are perfect. May have to pre-order this one. Nice review

Mine came in today #0777 once again your review was right on, the skelotonizing wasn't as clean as expected but it has almost the same Gratifying sound when opening as the 0452cf.👍🏽🗡

Hey, I like the poo color on the 0460! Like you, I’d prefer to see plain CF on this knife...but I might very well pick one of these up anyway. It’s main competitor for my $$$ is the 0452, which I’ve been putting off for 2 years now. Good review.
This will probably be the first ZT I buy but I also would've liked normal black CF more than the red. I'm glad the front is so clean but like you also mentioned I dislike all the text on the lock side. I hope the clean show side indicates that ZT is moving towards less billboarding on their knives as it's one of the things that have kept me away from them.
Cornelius it seems like they had a half-assed attempt here. But it is a step in the right direction!

Doc- I like trailing points and the improvements on the 0462. Not sure about the red or milling on the CF. Seems like the center screw should have been milled flat. Thanks for sharing as always. Love your mods on the 0393.

Hey frunk, you should also know being a Neuro-Surgeon that they also use CPM20CV/M390/CTS-204P varieties of steel, for Surgical Instruments, i.e. --Cutting instruments: scalpels, scissors, saws---Holding Instruments: smooth (anatomical) and toothed (Surgical) forceps, towel clamp, bayonet forceps, Rhoton dissectors, needles such at a 20#(gauge) spinal needle, the (“Quincke-type”, which have a sharp cutting tip) that is used to collect your basic “CSF” when doing a “LP”….****Always remember**** >> to never remove the stylet when advancing or removing the needle (this is dangerous frunk and you know it) & make sure your patient is in the correct positioning!!!!! Now recheck your lumbar puncture site by palpating the posterior superior iliac crest and ensuring you are in a correct spinal interspace. Position the needle in the same way you did for the initial anesthestetic (Do not divert the anesthetic causing addiction….not good). It should be placed two thirds of the way towards the distal spinous process. Ensure the needle is parallel to the bed and aimed at the umbilicus. Advance the needle. A ‘POP’ (Like POP goes the weasel and weasel goes pop!!) will often signal the puncture of the ligamentum flavum and dura. When this occurs, replace the stylet and advance the needle slowly (Like when I make love to a woman…) while repeatedly removing the stylet and checking for CSF flow.,…..LOL alright….i just cant go on…LOL…. I have too much time on my hands and im being a total smart ass and having some fun, i know you do way more intensive procedures than a lil ole' LP ;0) Oh, Love the video and actually really like the larger profile of the new ZT0462

The blue 0850 is an overdone pimp's knife! This 0462 is pretty awesome looking, love the shape of the blade. The rest of the knife is almost understated, subtle and very ergo!

I have had mine for about a month now, very impressive blade in 'real life' as wellNot the most practical shape for edc home use type stuff and it feels a tad uncomfortable when i put heavy pressure on itExtremely good flipper, scary shaving sharp 20cv, practically perfect fit and finish, very spiffy designI think i still prefer my 0804 overall though
I wish they improved the hardware Choice on the back spacer screws and the backspacer would be alot better as titanium but they have to do what they can to lower cost
That’s nice especially for $240. ZT has been really doing a much better job getting their pivots dialed in. At least it seems that way.

I guess my only two (minor) gripes are the sterile front in a way, I would have preferred a small ZT Logo on the front of the blade and less condensed billboarding on the back, I like symmetry to my blade, which gets me to the 2nd point, the plain Ti lockside, I wish they would have gone with a bronze ano or something else that fits with the colored CF. That being said, I am gonna get one, it's basically the 0460 I've been wishing for.

I bought one and love it now but had to make a modification. It wouldn't flip with my finger or fingers resting on the lock bar frame. So I took it apart and removed the screw holding the over travel plate in place and bent the frame a few thousands of an inch to take the pressure off the detente and now it is perfect. Thanks for a great video.
One must be careful in doing this to not cause lockup issues! But I'm glad it worked!
I have about 450 knives in my collection and made this modification on at least 50 of them with perfect results in all cases. Included in my collection are 26 Zero Tolerance knives of which I performed this delicate surgery on 8 of them. If you overdo the modification the results can be undone and in some instances it was necessary to disassemble and reassemble the knife up to 3 times making infinitesimally small adjustments before achieving perfection making it unlike spinal surgery where there is no room for mistakes.

I just got this knife today and I agree with you about the strong detent.I have adjusted the lock bar tension on a few of my other knives..So far so good.I am going to adjust this one also.Aside from that I do like this knife.
It took 3 attempts to get lock bar tension adjusted the way I wanted but now it flips nicely.Frank Salem,thanks for the tip.
This one looks like the sibling of the 452CF, I would love to see a comparison video.
grghndy indeed, this is technically the updated version of the 0452. Unfortunately, I don't have one for a comparison.
This is basically a production run Polutchotkiy, though I'm not sure why they miniaturized it in the first place for the 0460.
I just ordered one of these last night. The 0460 seems a little too small, and this 0462 seems a little too big, but I decided to error on the side of comfort and design improvements. I really wish more $200+ knives would flip the thinned lockbar region to the inside of the scale. They already spent time machining the inside of that scale. Oh well, a minor nitpick.
I will definitely have to go check this one out once Jim’s gets them in. I’m glad they made a bigger version cause the ergoes on the small one for me were pretty uncomfortable in hand. I’ll be interested to see what you think once you’ve carried it for a while. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later.
Stassa23 I just started talking to Jim's as well! Nice guy over there. I wanted to get these videos out super early, so I spent a little bit more and bought them at Kershaw guy.
This one is definitely more comfortable in the hand, and we will see how it lasts over time
Doctor Frunkey hey one of my friends who got this knife said the flipper tab was a little uncomfortable to him have you experienced anything like that.

I prefer the 0452, but I'm considering looking more closely at this because I want the 20CV. I'm gonna wait awhile to see if they do a sprint run with 20CV (or M390, which they did, and I missed) on the 0452. If not, I may have to get one of these.
glad to see they fixed most of the problems the original had, but I'm still gonna pass on this one. The design just doesn't do anything for me.
youre missing out. I sold the zt0460 long ago bc of the tiny size. My 0462 in hand is a keeper.

For $240 they could’ve tossed some red anodized TI or at least aluminum stand offs. Would’ve tied the red together a little better IMHO.

Backspacer is aluminum. How's the heal of the edge? Looks like it would get all wonky because of the way it's ground.

Troy Wheatley it's interesting to me how the Long Blade tucks into the handle. You get some extra length that hides up underneath the handle when open. It carries smaller than the overall length suggests.

Whats the detent like on the 0462 compared to the 0393? Would you say its a stronger detent/snappier flipping action? I've got a 0393 and its a little weaker than my 0562 which is just perfect and strong.
This may vary slightly from knife to knife. I would say the actions are very similar. the 0393 has a heavier blade. But the detents have a similar strength. the 0562 had a very good detent, I'll make a comparison one day!
They kinda have to put that into on the blade..
I'm sitting here debating on getting this knife...but think I'll pass, wish the handle wasn't curved wish it was more like the 452cf if so ida been all over it!!!
On video, it kind of has the same unpleasantness but I bet it's great in person.

Have you tried the ZT 0452 CF? I have two of those, and use them to frighten my sheeple friends...lol! The Persian design would probably appeal to Persians more than me.

Hate that I even have to ask this, is that real carbon fiber? Meaning if I cut a scale in half I'll see nothing but carbon fiber? Just found out another knife I've seen reviewed ad nauseam as CF is actually a laminate over g-10.
Mt. Baldwin people might argue with me about this, but yes it is complete carbon fiber. Technically, a carbon fiber with a red weave is not true carbon fiber, like the stuff used on airplanes and Formula 1 cars. The red fibers are technically not carbon, so you could argue that it's not real carbon fiber. However, to answer your question, it is full thickness fiber scales, with no G10 underneath.
Mt. Baldwin Not many companies use laminate CF over G10. Spyderco is one that does and everyone hates it lol. One good way to tell is look at the scale shape. If they had the balls to contour it, then you can see the cutaway and tell that it is true CF

I love the ZT=Sinkevich 0x52 knives for it's arched handle/blade..."Persian insprired". Unique and one of a kind as far as American made knives go (I'm sure here are tons of actual Persian knives (no idea on their quality....or if thy make knives in Iran at all.
this knife is NOT an EDC knife in any way. Too long and th curve of the blade...designed for one thing..."slashing" motion. It's a "killing knife/fighting". the only reason to carry this knife is to.... the person dumb enough to carry it and open it in public is in for trouble (opening any folder in public is a bad idea...with excptin of a Victornox Swiss Army--most unthreatening known multi-tool knife.
EDC---"lightweight" sized knives...or smaller. Guys who walk around with medium-large folders are making up for _____ :) Makes them "feel like a man" (not a smart one at that)....
But this is one to add to a collection....left at home.
If I were looking for a sigma would this hold me over till I get you to sell me yours?
