Love this knife. My "now wife" bought if for me this last Christmas. Totally wasn't expecting it. But, she'd seen me eyeballing it at Cabella's. It fits my hand very well. It's wicked, wicked sharp. The action is also smooth as butter, such that after unwrapping it, handling it, and releasing the blade the first time, it fell down on my thumb and gave me a nice little cut. I'm a knife dork, so, instead of being like "oh! I'm cut, I was like, hells yes! Lol!" I don't see why this can't be a great EDC knife. Yeah, it's a little on the large side, but it is extremely light. Compared to my ZT 0562, I often forget it's even in my pocket. I'm honestly afraid some day I may accidentally put it in the washing machine. Once it's in the pocket you forget it's there.
This guy was my first ZT/Higher end folder and my God it's my favorite knife I've ever owned. The action was insane and extremely satisfying. I sadly had to return it but I'm buying it again. Absolute gem.

You're right. I didn't get a notification this was up - only saw your comparison with the Sigma. I thought the "factory custom" 0450 was a typo or a joke. Who on earth is the clown picking colors for ZT anyway? What's the fascination with dog poop brown? And a sexy giant brick pattern. Anyway, the 0450 and 0460 are just too tiny for me, this one seems to give you that swoopy design for a good price. I do sort of wish they'd split the difference and done this as a 3.5".

In fact the persian blade may have been a slight turn off... Then I saw it in person and held it in my hand.... like I said, mine arrives tomorrow and I can't wait!
Like Nick Shabazz said, these knives ARE Big and Murdery. And I'm totally okay with that! I'm currently EDC'ing a ZT 0452GL most days. When I want or need to be more discrete, I carry a ZT 0450CF.

Frank, it works like a charm in trauma medicine, it is a great carry to accident sites to scare the heck out of those who try insurance fraud.. 😂😂😂😂 Seriously, I have the 0450, 0452 and the 0460, but I never pulled the trigger on the 0462 as it looks scary to a lot of people and when I handled it, it did impress me, but went for the original instead of the one made under license, i.e. a Dimitri custom.
I love this knife but it is not my EDC. This is a great display knife or for me, a great deer, to put it nicely, cleaning knife. I have very large hands and to use this knife as a worker it fits those hands wonderfully. It feels great, cuts great and stays sharp. "Pocket sword"... Love that line!
This is a "first mate" knife if I've ever seen one. When you're talking fishing knifes, you're talking upswept blades. The deckhand will be in the Kershaw or Buck price range, the first mate will have a Benchmade or ZT, and the captain will have a custom blade.
Bought it when it first came out for 245 bucks and sadly sold it months later. 07/13/24, bought another because I realized I made a mistake by selling my first one. As of this date the current selling price is around 320 bucks in my area.

I used to like the look of this knife...first time I saw it...then over time seeing it over and over by chance....it began to me started resembling a steak knife :) My tastes changed...preferring more "beefy" looking knives with wide blades....had a different "philosophy of use".... Preferring knives like the 456, 307, 350, Griptilian...etc.... I knew I'd have limited use for this knife/blade shape....to each his own.
Good video Doc, some of the things you mention are nit picks I had with this one as well. I normally love a satin blade, but this one seemed a bit too bright and the hardware sort of sticks out rather than blending in with the handle. Been super curious to get one though so for $20 less I ordered the sprint 0462BLK, lose the 20CV, but S35 is fine with me- this won't be a hard user. I also ordered an Adam Purvis clip for it, so hopefully I love it! Haha. I had a 0452 in the past, but it was such a long knife I feel like this might be a touch better due to the lighter weight and slightly shorter overall length.
I'm trying to get myself to pick up aZT knife and I can't do it. I have to customize everything I own and the scales on this bother me as far cf on one side and ti on the other. Pretty lame to me that if I get some anodizing or something done in the ti that is on the wrong side for me.
Is it to "skinny"?... i like it alot, but skinny knives are probably one of my biggest peeves. Like the BM fact was just too skinny, not enough meat on it.
A knife is a good option to have in case you need to defend yourself, but something like pepper spray will probably be more appropriate and effective in most situations, and more conveniently transported. So you may not need to carry such a large knife as you think.

This is a lot of fun to carry and use, but I will go back to the 0562 in ELMAX for everyday use.

my favorite zt knives are zt0462 and zt0452 cfm390blu. I dont find them murdery at all just elegant sleek tactical knives.
