I see this video was posted almost 3 years ago. Maybe Lusterleaf has changed the instructions, but it now says to also fill the reference chamber with the settled water to the fill line of the test chamber. It says this is to "compensate for any discoloration in the test sample caused by the soil". The color chart cards for all except pH test have see through windows on the reference chamber side so you can read and compare to the test water. Then you add the powder from the appropriate capsule to the test chamber, cap and shake. But sure to read the instructions because what to do with undisolved test chemicals in phosphorus and potash tests are different.
They may have updated it, but you can still tell just by filling just the left Chamber. It’s more about getting the ratios right then anything else! I think the kit you send out to a pro lab is the best way to do it. Thanks for the update 😎
Great video. One suggestion would be to let your test water sit for at least 12hrs no matter if you think it's clear enough. I did after suggestion and it totally changed my results. Everything was higher! K was off the charts compared to depleted at 45mins. Just my 2 cents. Your instructions are well delivered.👍🏽
That is good advice thank you. Keep in mind they’ll company recommends letting it sit up to 24 hours based on how dirty your water is. This won’t change results of test, it will only make the sediments settle to make the water clear enough for you to do the comparisons. I get what you mean though, you need to see clearly what you are working with to know what it is on the chart. My soil is very sandy so there really wasn’t a problem for me letting it sit 30 minutes to an hour. Great idea and I’ll include it in my description for future viewers 😎
Respect but, Just try it. You'll see what I mean. I use this system multiple times a Month It's a different result. Not just clearer water. Again just my two cents. I won't push the subject anymore.

That’s a question for the company 😎

Can this kit be used on hydroponic solutions?
I use it for the soil in my lawn. you would have to call the company.
i use it for that
Is the capsule still usable if it is melted?
When I received the soil test kit the blue capsules are melted. :(
If it got hot enough to melt, the contents could be damaged. 😎
