    I’m 57 and still cycling. I gained a tremendous amount of weight during covid/divorce. It’s taken me a few years to get it off but here’s what works for me: 1. I train 5 days a week. 1 hour of heavy resistance training followed by 1 hour of cardio (walking at 3.5 mph on a 2.0 incline). 2. I eat 2000 calories a day but burn anywhere from 2500 to 3000 leaving me in a deficit. 3. Get 7 hours of sleep. 4. Eliminate processed foods and most sugar. I still eat a chocolate bar daily. 5. Reduce stress. Working out helps. Incorporate breath work into your daily routine. 6. Red light therapy is a must for me. It helps my body to recover from workouts and reduces inflammation.

      Thank you so much! I am 52, was a mess for many years (depress, lack of sleep, high BP etc) due to trauma from domestic violence non physical in marriage. Divorce was best thing I ever did for myself. For years I did not know I was in an abusive relationship. In 2022, i spent close to a year at weekly therapy, and it helped a lot to understand the years of depression emotional verbal abuse and stress. Then Peri and menopause symptoms, plus weight gain. Its been a challenge last several years. I started weight training for the first time in my life 3 mos ago with coach 2x a week and then Jan 1 started on my own 4x a week, 30 mins, and HIIT 2x a week. I feel so much better. I really appreciate you sharing your recipe for better health. Many thanks!

      Thank you very much I just turned 60 and can not lose 5 lbs of belly fat. I have a very small bone structure & 5’ 8” but the love handles & lower belly are driving me nuts. I resistance train twice a week, cardio 5 & infrared, medium & near light sauna 2-3. Fasting Glucose is higher & now I understand it’s menopause. I am going to add more resistance training and change up the treadmill to 3.5 at 2.0 incline. I have been in menopause for 3 yrs. Wish me luck 😊

    My husband cuts out 2 icecream bars a night (from 8) and loses weight...I totally know what you are talking about. Menopause makes my life extremely difficult in so many ways. Great information!

    Very interesting comment on calorie restriction and thyroid health. Back in 2010-2013 I began working out, calorie restriction and lost 40 pounds. I kept working out since I had about 5 pounds more to reach a goal weight for my height...but that's when the fatigue, heart palpitations began to where I couldn't work out...and I was tired all the time, felt feverish all the time. I was suspicious of my thyroid since these were similar symptoms to what other folks with hypothyroid describe. I went to the doctor, she checked my thyroid levels which were borderline hypothyroid. Since I was having so many symptoms at borderline, my doctor opted to put me on a low dose of levothyroxine. The improvement in energy was almost instant for me and the other symptoms went away. But now I can't help wonder if calorie restriction may be partially to blame for thyroid dysfunction (I don't have Graves or other thyroid diseased, the doctor checked for it). Here I am now, though in 2021 in perimenopause, unable to lose ANY weight. The last 2 years I've done calorie restriction and was exercising for an hour a day (I was doing 30 minutes chair aerobics, since I'm disabled, and 20-30 minutes of strength training). In August, I flat gave up on both entirely because after 2 years, I was STILL the same weight...not an ounce came off....and I was weighing and measuring and recording every...single...thing...I put in my mouth. No processed foods. Good, healthy foods. Sigh. I'm so done. I was miserable living that way and seeing absolutely no results. To add insult to injury, I'm on a beta blocker because perimenopause gave me lovely PVC's (benign heart beat irregularity) and occasional tachyardia. (cardiologist can't find anything wrong with my heart, my cholesterol levels are perfect...it's hormones). So the beta blocker slows my metabolism....so losing weight is a losing battle for me at this point. Haha...all of that to say, interesting that my thyroid issue kicked off during calorie restriction. (I'm 5 feet tall, so to lose weight, my calorie total for a day is 1200 calories to lose weight...very depressing).

Lack of motivation, weight gain, unfocused attention and lack quality sleep. Is there a simpler way to figure out how to loss weight and get healthier and fit in Menopause, beside get your PHD in women’s health??? 😞😫💔

    I’m SO THANKFUL for this information.
    I too have been told to eat less and exercise more.
    That said the scale keeps going up.
    It’s sad that so many doctors aren’t as sympathetic or informed as both of you ladies.
    I’ve left the doctors crying.
    It sounds’ weak’ but I’m being honest about the frustration.

    Good video. A lot of technical speak tho.... wondering how one would actually do a daily blood test to see if they are in ketosis (sp?)? Also an overwhelming number of tests mentioned. Would be helpful to break all those down in top 3 or 4? I ordered the book!

    • @wearemorphus
      @wearemorphus  2 года назад

      Thanks for your feedback Carol! I'm working on a document to capture all the tests and I will ask Sara to name the top 3 to 4 she recommends. For a daily ketosis check, we use: bit.ly/3m9XAx0
