With Arch Mastery starting at level 50, you can now cast any school spell using power pips. You can even get a jewel at level 50 from the shopping district that gives you just enough arch mastery to start getting school pips.
This makes mastery amulets near useless and also makes questing for tank schools that don't get early AOEs really easy(just train meteor strike lol).

    • @somedudeontheinterwebs45
      @somedudeontheinterwebs45 Год назад +12

Correction: you can equip the jewel at level 15, and you get more than enough gold naturally to get it at that level. Just buy a random amulet with the correct slot type and you'll be ready to cast any spell you want.

    • @ReaperSagami36
      @ReaperSagami36 Год назад +1

you can get a jewel before 50 maybe around 10-15 for a plus 1 to arch which is all you need in pve making most of the schools kinda broken honestly

I still don't think it's worth it as the best gear you can get for level sets (30, 60, 100, 130 etc) are all heavily class specific and you can't get nearly enough balanced stats to make casting other school spells worth it

As a balance main, soloing really isn’t as bad as most people make it out to be. Especially once you get super nova. The only problem I have is with balance bosses which are really annoying but easy to take care of with chimera. Just makes the fights a bit longer. If you're starting out as a Life Wizard, the best thing you can do with your money first is to GET A KOOKABURRA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The Leaf Storm AoE it gives you (as well as a life blade item card) will make soloing so much more bearable. Even in group play it's quite well rounded with the Regenerate item card it gets.

    1. Death: best utility, best in soloing and it is not bad in hitting as well.
    Very diverse
    2. Fire: really fun to play, enough health for soloing and one of the best in hitting
    3. Myth: cool spells, enough health for soloing and really good in hitting
    4. Storm: best hitter, can be painful in questing, based on luck, I personally use storm just only as a farm charakter, because the gameplay is really boring by spamming tempust.
    5. Life: you barely need to heal in wiz, so the utility is kind of worthless. Cool spells, slow in questing.
    6. Ice: everything, what an ice can do, can a other school better, but at least it is easy, but boring and slow as well to quest.
    7. Balance: everyone wants a balance, however its such a pain to level the balance up. The blade thing is quite ok, but in most cases elemental and spirit blades are enough.

Hey! Myth wizard player here, and I want to say that you should check out Monstrology! In areas where Myth Wizards can struggle in soloability, you can gather monstrology summons, of which any summons cost only two myth pips to cast (so one power pip) and you can summon a full three creatures into the battlefield. Now, sure you can't control them, but if you pack heals, blades, etc., you can cause some crazy chaos in boss fights.
In regards to mastery amulets, you can farm the Tower of the Helephant to get a chance at Mastery Amulets. There is almost always people queuing to farm the TotH, even today. Im fairly certain every one of my mastery amulets has come from TotH. Additionally, you don't need packs to collect spells like Grendels Amends, as you can either a) have the (admittedly low) chance of getting them as drops from the Loremaster or b) craft a good portion of them as you go throughout the game. Crafting can be tedious, but I mean, what's an MMO without a little gear and item grinding lol.
Otherwise, pretty good video! Enjoyable to watch. Some personal recommendations from a long time W101 player though: Small, precise decks with one or two reshuffles make battles way easier than larger bloated decks. Survivability for most schools only becomes a problem if you dont hit on the third or fourth turn (at the latest). I run a deck with two AOEs, two blades, a sharpened blade from my Enchanted Armament pet, two sun school boosts, and one reshuffle, and I put two (stackable) feints in to take on bosses. That's it, and honestly, its the deck thats been getting me to where I am now. With so few cards, I can guarantee myself getting the spells I need within a couple turns at most, and my normal strat going solo in PVE is blade blade hit for mobs and feint feint blade blade hit for bosses. For some cheating bosses, I switch up the strategy to fit the cheats, but I otherwise rarely alter my deck setup.
If you took the time to read this, thank you! Again, loved the video, have a great day!

I’m ngl, I think I’m gonna give Myth a shot because of this message. It’s been my least favorite class for so long but I love the idea of Monstrology giving Myth back it’s class identity. Feels like a bit of extra work but I kinda like chasing after powerful enemies to use them as your allies and that really feels akin to quest spells for Myth but you can do them at your leisure (if you have the money for Monstrology spells, goddamn they get expensive lol).

I'm a 130 myth but I've never used monstrology even in soloing. I still use my minions for boss fights and I know how to maximize their usefulness without hurting my chance at winning a fight. I just wish bosses were not all stun immune. I haven't used Medusa (or any other stun spell) in like 6 years.

the hack for balance is to get an enchanted armament pet, so instead of getting only 2 blades you get 4, with a blade amulet and the maycast you get up to 6 blades, this really helped me solo all the way until i learned the enchanted armament spell, which then i switched to the snappy gryphon pet . Cheers!

    • @yoooo7408
      @yoooo7408 Год назад +2

the best part is, once you get the sharpened blade spell at 86. you can still keep the enchanted armament around for utility for those hard fights where someone else is hitting. Pet sharpen and regular sharpen are two different spells, meaning each blade turns into 3 different blades you can cast. this really utilizes balances strong points, combine that with feint, potent feint, amulet feint, mass feint hat, tc feint and blades and you can become the ultimate utility balance, as well as let level 1s get the one in a million badge.

You 100% do NOT need to spend real cash on gear for Storms. Instead, get to lvl 30 with regular gear, then farm Mt. Olympus for a full set. That gear lasts until lvl 60, then farm Waterworks gear, which lasts all the way to lvl 100. At 100 farm Darkmoor, etc. Storm is only difficult on some quest bosses on occasions, where you'll want to queue for a party. On the main questline, you'll probably need to queue for help about a dozen times. Otherwise, Storm is normally AoE 1-shotting every single battle as long as you're an average casual like myself. I personally finished all content as a storm without buying any gear (however, my only playthrough on Wizard101 was with a Storm).

Hi, balance main here! Yes, balance can be an absolute nightmare to solo, speaking from experience. But one thing I found that balance does very well is run it with a secondary school. As you stated, they have some wiggle room with training points and they also can buff everyone. So, running them with a secondary honestly isn't that bad. For example, I have 2 balance sets, one pure balance, another balance/ fire. The damage ratios are around 130% balance damage and 125% fire damage. Honestly I personally don't love fire as a whole but running it as a secondary has given me a new appreciation for it. So that noticable change of "having a balance on your team" you can just give yourself. It allows for fun situations where you can cast Nested Fury, triggering your ice blades and balance blades and, if that doesn't finish the job, use fire dragon to use up the fire blades that are still there. That being said, it is very expensive requiring mastery amulets and crown gear for multiple class or universal damage.

I think balance is probably one of the worse schools early game, but once you hit late game with spells like Power Nova and Nested Fury, the game becomes incredibly easy. The only difficult fights were bosses with cheats that took away blades or traps, since balance depends heavily on utility. Other than that, I found balance to be just fine in terms of damage and solo playing (especially since some of the spells late game are super cool)

Ice main here! I just hit 3k max health and level 46 today with my ice wizard that I've been using for over 10 years now (on and off hence being only level 46 lmao)
Personally I've found that soloing as an ice wizard is pretty easy in terms of not dying super fast bc ice wizards are apparently built like tanks in terms of health. Attacks are not the strongest, but I've gotten better at utilizing traps to fix that. For my "secondary school" if you will, as a wee child I decided to spend most of my training points on Balance. Not sure why I did, but it's come in handy every now and then. (honestly I probably just thought it looked cool)
In terms of healing as an Ice main, I've been trying to work my way up in Life spells to get things like satyr, but MAN does it take a handful of pips for health. Luckily I've got a pet dove that will cast unicorn at random times, so I definitely recommend trying to get a pet that can heal you if you're struggling to heal yourself amidst all the tower shields and ice wyverns you cast.
I personally really love Ice, but despite being able to take hits left and right, not being able to efficiently heal is definitely a challenge especially when soloing haha
Thanks for reading this if you did, and best of luck on all your quests! o/

Most of the time the enemy is easy to read and you can just be prepared with lots of shields for the school that you would go up against. I always found it fun to just look at the enemy and cast a shield before they got for a big hit thus ruining all of their preparations to damage me. Made Pvp a lil fun especially seeing how frustrated the enemy would be after their spell would do next to nothing. Ice is fun to solo if you have the patience and can figure out the enemy strategies. Plus ice is one of the schools to have the useful steal spell when dealing with enemies who cast that annoying 90% damage reductions shield.

Like mentioned in the video: early game can be extremely slow due to having very few effective damage spells, however after getting forest lord or even centaur the game picks up FAST. I would recommend playing with a team early on especially if you don't want to take the time to farm dungeons or do all the side quests, however mid-late game you don't need the team, the team needs you.

I am just dropping in to say that I soloed the entire game with life. It’s an easy solo. It’s high health and decent damage. Not as high as ice, of course, but you easily get 9K by Lemuria. I started Lemuria with 9,180. But like I said, you have to know what you’re doing. It takes a while. Until you get lord and enchants, it’s a little rough. However, I suggest getting a kookaburra damage pet. Best way to utilize life at a lower level.
Also, heals. Ingoing and outgoing are great stats to keep up, or keep gear sets of. You can’t lose if you’re enemy can’t kill you because you keep on healing.

As someone who started with storm, I will say life as a secondary school is a must, and I highly encourage a life mastery amulet.
Also, I wouldn't call storm the "gambling school". Yes, you'll struggle with fizzles for the first 30 levels, but once you get Olympus gear, you will have a base of 87% accuracy, and you can improve that to 99% at level 35 with craftable triangle jewels and over 100% with pet accuracy (at level 35). On top of that, later gear gives you 100% storm accuracy. The fizzling can be bothersome at first, but the school is very rewarding if you stick with it.
** Also, Storm has the spell Lightning Strike which is attainable after finishing Unicorn Way and gives 25% storm accuracy to your next storm spell **

I am a Solo Player. I recently started playing for the first time in over 10 years. I decided to go for a challenge and chose Storm, which was frustrating as hell and took me a week to get to 12th lvl. I then played Myth, and tore thru the first few chapters like wildfire, getting to 12th lvl in under 2 days. I originally played Fire, and though I don't remember the particulars, I enjoyed the game enough to return after 10 years.
Everyone has always hated the "Fizzle", and in a Card Game it is *way* out of place, a Mute Spell would have been a *much* better dynamic. But even with it, it wouldn't be so bad if the Success Rate was what was displayed and supposed to be - a 70% success rate Storm Spell, has a 5% accuracy bonus from a Storm Wizard, and I use a Wand that has a 5% Accuracy Bonus to every School, this gives a total Successful Casting Rate of 80%, minus any negative modifiers.
I have kept a tally, and it is 40-50% success rate, at best, and no amount of arguing with the Devs and Customer Service will change it.

As someone who solo’d as Life in the past, it really is a bit of a struggle. Especially when you don’t have Forest Lord, Acorn Spin, Hungry Caterpillar, or the new Karamelle life spell. And you only get those spells through crafting, pets, or quest towards the middle of the game. However, I heard Death is objectively a good school for soloing due to a good majority of their spells being ones that drain health from other mobs and giving it to them. Fire and storm are good for heavy hits, balance, death, and Life are good for healing and buffs, and myth and ice I guess make good damage sponges and support.
The only thing I dislike about storm is the really low accuracy.

Soloing with storm is pretty bad until about the end of Zafaria. With the right gear you don’t have to worry about pips, accuracy, or health around that area. Up until then, you’ll have to rely on teaming a lot. Also around that level, Tempest and Storm Lord becomes your best friend, especially when soloing since most enemies will die before they can lower your health down to concerning levels.

But as time pasts and I got older Life became a much better school to main for me and I'm glad I got past Dragon Spire (somehow) with my Life Wizard. A thing I didn't see you talk about is resists/boosts. Which is more important in the first arc than later but still something to note cause it is the one big drawback to playing as death. SO MANY ENEMIES RESIST DEATH. This is also a pro for life schools, since there's pretty much a damage boost on everything early on. This can be a bit of a double edge sword tho, cause I was SO reliant on my life boost that I got stuck on wisteria (where all the enemies and bosses are life).

As an ice main I didn’t agree with your sustainability comment saying since it can’t heal it’s at a severe disadvantage.. Because it has so much health, it can constantly shield and still have a good amount of health to attack or heal.. tower shield protects from all types of magic and you’ll get 4 out of 6 of the shields when getting feint. if you’re enemy has a lot of pips for instance, use a shield because you know they’re going to attack. Blades or traps after they attack because the worst they can do is “minor” damage and then hit.. if anything this can make it a lengthy fight, but using heal spells as the excuse to give it that score undermines the purpose of Ice altogether. It’s buffy with insane amount of shields in its arsenal,

And finally fire gives you both hard hitters and dot, maybe the hard hitters are a bit weaker than storm but that’s a trade off.

Also... Have to disagree on Balance having accessibility of 4.5/5
Halfway through arc 1, you start to feel the detrimental effects of how weak balance can get. The lack of a prism REALLY hurts early game too.
And then once you hit arc 2, your buffs are nowhere near as good as the other schools, and your resistance also drops to possibly 3rd or second weakest (If you're not paying for premium gear).
Soloing is incredibly painful as a balance, ESPECIALLY in second arc. Balance has the issue of "Jack of all trades, master of none" while it sounds cool on paper, in practice it's pretty debilitating.

The only problem that I found wrong was Storm's average rating is off. Storm's Average Rating is actually 3.125/5 NOT 3.25/5, because 3 + 1.5 + 4 + 4 = 12.5, then divide by 4 = 3.125. I am not entirely sure if you caught that right now looking back or not I just wanted to let you know. 6th Place is Storm with 3.125 and is NOT tied with Ice.
Other than Storm's Average Rating mishap, I think you did a fabulous job explaining each school and gave a good rating system for each of the 4 criteria that you created. I also made an ice as my first wizard and I do treasure that guy with all my heart. I won't make a Death or Life Wizard until I get Ship of Fools and Rat Spin on them so that way my death and life wizards will have an easier time questing. In my personal opinion, I NEVER like to solo the game, because I think having my friends, people on team up, or anyone is way much better than being alone. In addition to, the help of some people speeds up your questing time tremendously than soloing (depending on the player) along with getting Monstrous TC & Critical + Damage Pet early game can get your questing done through the early worlds a lot quicker.

@@salazar5382 Yes they are. However, like I said in my comment, I was referring to critical on pets early game like Wizard City, Krokotopia, Marleybone, etc so you are able to blow through enemies/bosses and get the world(s) completed at a faster rate. Then, you can hatch a new better pet with full damage or damage and resist (up to player in hindsight) when you get to the critical gear aspect part of the game.

@@terrybarnes8386 Waste of time, might as well just do a damage pet. First arc is extremely easy and I dont get how people need to rely on critical lmao

@@salazar5382 Its not really a waste of time because getting 20+ critical on a level 0 -1 wizard is pretty good. I'm not excusing your point of getting a damage pet for low wizards either cause getting 20+ damage for a level 0-1 wizard is awesome too. Arc 1 is pretty easy from experience but that's not always the case if the person is new to Wizard101 and aren't knowledgeable about the game like experts/veterans of the game are. I don't think people are relying on critical too much, I think it's to make questing faster by doubling your damage to enemies like mobs or bosses in early game.

I think playing as any school all the way from early game to close to end game is boring if a storm wizard joins your battle. Because most of the time you won’t even get to do anything. No hitting and your support is pointless since the match will end in 5 rounds or less.

I love myth, it was my first class and I leveled it solo, went through all the pain of having no good hit all spell until level 100 and I loved every minute of that painful grind.
Every other school after that never felt the same and felt like the game was in easy mode! Became the strongest Myth Character on the german servers and always thought it would be cool if you could control your minions and if they were strong enough to replace 1 player, but unfortunately they aren't even strong enough that you can afford wasting the pips for it.

the thing about storm is that everybody is gonna be counting on you to hit 24/7 and if you fizzle…. you’ll never hear the end of it. so good luck.

Something people don't mention about fire is the fizzling. Oh god the fizzling. I am playing Wizard101 with a friend and I went with life. I am so glad I did because her attacks fizzle almost as much as storm attacks so she needs all the healing she can get to make up for when she wastes huge attacks and the enemy ends up living way longer than it should because of that lol
Not to mention the fact they are, you know, not good defensively... yeah she needs my healing

I love death, it was my first wizard and I’m still going strong with her 13 years later. It’s so versatile since I can switch between buffing people/tanking (just hit 10k hp) or just go all out hitting (I’m 160 with a 180 damage buff lol) and all the gear and spells are the coolest imo.

Myth is very fun if you have good gear and know what you’re doing. It’s also good in pvp
