I was born in California and lived here my whole life. I work 40 hours a week at job #1, which provides Kaiser insurance and other great benefits. I'm at work right now at job #2. Job #2 is two nights a week and from this I bring home an average of $1,000 a month.
The gentleman talking about his niece's search for an apartment.....where the hell do they live paying $3k - $4k a month for rent?! That must be the cost of renting a house. I live in south Los Angeles and pay $1,024 for a 1-bedroom apartment. The building on the south side of my apartment charges $1,300 for a single size apartment. The building on the north side of my apartment charges $1,450 for a 1-bedroom. The minimum wage in California went to $16 on January 1, 2024 but the minimum wage for Los Angeles County increased to $17.27 on July 1, 2024 and that same day fastfood workers' pay increased to $20. With that said it is possible to live alone.

Naw, shame on property owners who are greedy! The $1,000 apartment in 2020 that is now $1,600, $1,700 is the same apartment and no reason other than greed that the rent increased several hundreds in a mere 3-4 years. January 1, 2024 California's minimum wage increased to $16. July 1, 2024 Los Angeles County minimum wage increased to $17.27 and fastfood workers' pay increased to $20. So we make a livable wage in California but the greedy property owners rental increases make our housing costs out of control.

I just wanted to add that interest rates going down arent going to solve the problem. The homes are still way overvalued. If you knock a few percentage points off, the difference in monthly payments for a home mortgage will be miniscule in comparison. Going from 2800 to 2700 just with a few point drop is nothing when you have the price of everything else sky high. Nevermind property taxes which are based on property value, insurance also based on property value, upkeep. You're still looking at around 3000-3500 a month just for the house. That's because the average home in the US is 400k. That's the median

@@rainmutt3240 A lot of people can’t work fully remote anymore, but if they could, I’m sure they would go in cheaper countries! Thank you for your comment😊

Instead of blaming someone else. Take a good look at yourselves. You're picky and want to keep up with the Jones. Look uptown Manhatten, or Riverdale, Bronx. Yes living alone is a hassel. But watch your spending , and your budget. Don't blame others.

She walked up and down three flights of stairs with all that crazy food and drinks. I delivered Uber eats at one time. It was probably the wrong stairs so she had to start all over at the next set:( I used to hate those kind of apartments only four apartments per landing, and if that was the wrong one, had to go all the way down and up the next, just for some doggone McDonald’s

Billionaires create millions of jobs that changed many people's lives with their products and services and their employees earning really good wages. The girl complaining needs to learn a high skill and work smart and hard not just hard. Reason why they are billionaires is because they accomplished the hardest thing you can do in life where not many people can do what they've done.

This is not true. Billionaires are where they are because of inheritance and birth lottery, as well as exploitation of the working poor and slavery (ie. Elon Musk’s father’s emerald mine). Educate yourself, friend.
