You can get a raptor protection vest for Butters, I am a professional dog trainer and I have four little dogs myself. In the winter here we supervise but also use a vest on the smallest dogs. They work very well.

I thought hawks/raptors were only a threat to tiny like toy dogs. Bostons are larger around 20lbs, would they be able to pick up a 20lb dog?
Either way the vest would help with bobcats.
For some reason I've struggled to find my holiday spirit these last few years. Im sure covid and the stresses of the world are weighing me down. Because of this I'm even more into these videos that bring a sense of ritual, quieting down, appreciating the small things, and just taking time to step back, breathe, and take in the beauty and meaning of the season that I've been missing. Michelle, maybe look in to a predator prevention vest for Butters. She is so small and enticing for large birds and bobcats. There are also preventions you can install on your fence that make it harder for predators to get in. We have a cayote problem in NY/NJ.
This year was also a struggle for me. But I will have to say watching you and Risa Does Makeup really made some of my nights go by easier. This year just feels like a fail just like 2020. Though I did graduate summa cum laude with a bachelors and I am thinking of going for my masters in graphic design. Glad I found you this year. Give Butters a giant kiss for me!

Love watching Butters. We have hawks & coyotes so never let them out without me watching them. My fur babies play with each other inside a fenced in yard but always with me close by.

A hawk cannot pick up your dog - they can only pick up their weight or less. A hawk may weigh about 5 lbs or less. However, the fox and bobcat is a different type of predator. You can get some fake owls for the fence as a deterrent.

Hi Michele. Catching up on your videos. Try a sprinkler with a motion detector. I have puppies and had to set up sprinkler in my back yard to scare of fox and feral cats. I’ve only had it a month, but it’s worked well after I was able to set the sensor in the right spot. I got it on Amazon brand name Orbit because you can set it for all day sensing or just night time. Good luck.
Nest's Orange Pomander candle is now a scent only sold through Crate & Barrel, but it's a beautiful scent, especially for the holidays. Before it was called Spiced Orange & Clove and sold everywhere. They changed the name this year, doing a deal with Crate & Barrel to only sell it through them, but they do sell both a 1 wick and a 3 wick.
We live in an area that has TONS of hawks. Their MO is usually swooping down, grabbing a bird, and either eating it right there (which we have unfortunately witnessed) or flying off with it. It’s possible the hawk took the bird somewhere and ate most of it. What it didn’t eat it’s possible crows took the rest of it, tried the carcass, and dumped what they didn’t eat in your yard. We also get a lot of crows and they like to dump their garbage in our yard, including our bird bath. Weird birds.

Your backyard wild kingdom is getting more active. Rather than a scarecrow, we put up a plastic owl on our house to keep other large birds away, perhaps that might help your situation, as well? Good luck.

I grew up with so many pets and one was a small Schipperke dog. We were warned about our wildlife, hawks and coyotes and mountain lions ect. With Vegas having coyotes and bobcats and hawks, you might want to invest in a type of doggy run so that Butters can be safe. It’s not as free and fun as a whole yard, but doggy safety is worth it.
As a child from 1960s Saturday morning cartoons, The Jetsons was/is my favorite. Who doesn’t want a Rosie?

What a fun giveaway! We have red and grey fox here in my suburban neighbor hood but the ones I see are young and I always wonder how long they live! I have no fenced yard so we walk the neighborhood a lot and my 11 year old husky boxer 80 lb.mix sometimes greets them like they are a dog!
An owl ornament - a life-size one- that should help. We use them here in Ontario to keep smaller 4 legged life and pigeons away from our yards.
I’ve seen a harness with spikes - probably ridiculous looking but it offers protection for Butters!! We have bobcats in our area but thankfully they won’t mess with our two labs!!!

I used to live in Vegas and my folks still live there in Summerlin. Bobcats, hawks and foxes are all normal and my parents saw a bobcat a few weeks back in their backyard!!!!

Aw so sweet at the beginning with Miss B! My in laws have to be wary of bald eagles taking off with their Pomeranians. So it’s good to be wary about the neighborhood critters!! ❤️

I live out in the country with a family of hawks that made a home in the neighbors pine. We have lost squirrel, bunnies and the neighbors lost a cat, that was so gut wrenching, all due to those hawks. It’s so sad. They are ruthless, but I also know, nature and food chain. Still ugh. So sorry you had to deal with that too.
To continue .... and a portable fenced in area so Butters can enjoy the outdoors! It just requires putting on one’s ‘thinking cap’ and talking to professional for pet safety, it can be done. 👍

Good morning with my double steeped genmaicha from day 6 :) Yesterday's tea was so unique I sipped on it for an hour and didn't care that it went completely cold! That is: apricot, honey and lavender infusion.
Foxes are very common in London and very... human. As in, they understand very quickly if you welcome them or not and after telling them off a couple times harshly, they actually don't visit you again. However another fox thing to be careful with is, that they collect stuff. At least these red foxes, do. They steal chewable and shiny objects to take to their pups for teething. My advice is, if you see your fox again, shoo it away, but make sure you are safe (behind the window or from the balcony) and do not leave fox treasure on your patio :D Scarecrows have to be changed from time to time, because most birds figure it out after a while, that it is a dummy. One can have fun with them, tho. :D
