Since we did a video for just Sophia, it's only fair to do a compilation video for Dorothy Zbornak. Despite being the center of the show and usually the voice of reason, Dorothy is still not above throwing some serious shade at her fellow Golden Girls. Dorothy's character was so much more than the writing. Bea delivered it impeccably. By far my favorite golden girl!
it couldn't have been anyone other than bea arthur. she's amazing.
Her acting ability is second to no one. Her ability to use her face alone to completely deliver every emotion and feeling is so rare. She was an absolute gem! I cannot separate Sophia & Dorothy in my heart and mind. Both my favs.
Dorothy was savage and caustic, but what made it watchable and her likable was that under all the tough guy stuff she actually cares about and stood up for her friends, which isn't such a common quality. That and her fabulous facial expressions and also she's a good looking, unusual woman, kinda mannish but very attractive at the same time. I don't ever think I've seen anyone like her on TV ever. She's in that category of unique performers like Buster Keaton, Jerry Lewis, etc.

One of my favorite lines that was not on this segment is when Dorothy and Blanche are on Rose’s Morning Talk Show and it was about Lesbians. So Dorothy and Blanche pretended to be lovers so Rose wouldn’t tell St. Olaf stories. Anyway it was the Q & A part of the morning show and Sofia was an audience member. She had asked Dorothy how does her mother feel about her being Lesbian and Dorothy said she would ask her at “The Home”......priceless 🤣😀

Bea Arthur guest starred in a 2 part episode, and in this clip she was helping the other ladies by waiting on dining customers at their hotel because they were short staffed. The name of the episode is "Seems Like Old Times."

I love the one where she asks Rose if she's ever given a eulogy and Rose says, "At a funeral?" and Dorothy says, "No, Rose, at a pie-eating contest." Kills me every time! I also love the one where Dorothy and Blanche come in the kitchen with Dorothy obviously carrying a box of pizza and after Blanche says they've brought dinner, Rose asks, "What'd you get?" The look on Dorothy's face as she holds the box out and says, "A bucket of chicken. I hope you like it extra flat and crispy," makes me lose it every time.

I'm obsessed with the Golden Girls and Dorothy was my favorite. One of my favorite scenes (I didn't see it on here) is where Rose got a promotion at the t.v. station where she works. Dorothy and Blanche agree to be guest on the live show. They think they are going to be interviewed concerning women's issues. They are livid when the host reveals the segment is about "lesbians who live together". Dorothy and Blanche agree to go along with it to keep Rose from losing her job. My favorite part is when the host takes questions from the audience and Sophia directs her question to Dorothy.... "How has this lifestyle affected your mother?" Dorothy never misses a beat and replies "I really don't know, but I'll ask her tomorrow when I visit her at THE HOME"...
lmao. You missed the one where the girls went to the mystery weekend at the hotel, and Dorothy was solving the faux murder. Sophia was being a bit crude, so Dorothy goes, "Although, daughters frequently murder their mothers!"
