It's always good to see competition to DJI but this one missed the target unfortunately. I think the Mini SE, Mini 2, or one of my personal favorites, the Nano+, would be a better choice. Then again there's a price difference. I feel it's better to grow into a drone, car, motorcycle, etc. than to find it lacking in short order then be bored with it. Thanks for the review! Always good to see what other offerings are on the market.
Not that bad.. But I think the Potensic Atom is the superior "budget" drone. It's on par with the DJI Mini 2, maybe even a bit better honestly. Especially for the price range. You can find barely used ones on the Bay for great prices
The Potensic is only a small amount more and "$100s of dollars" better for the small amount of money between this and that. Id buy this drone if it was $150 or under. But it's not worth saving $50. I'd like to see a comparison between the Potensic Atom, the Fimi X8 and the DJI Mini 2 SE. All sub 250 grams and all about the same price. I have the Potensic Atom, it's excellent. Practically DJI quality.
@@AlienDrones This was really well done, with great continuity - did you use multiple cameras and one take, or are you that good at continuing speech after changing the camera set up?
@@TechnoViel Thanks! One camera and I wish it was one take, lol. Tried something new to see what it turned out like, I have some ideas to make it a bit smoother and easier next time. It was really busy that day too which made it a bit nerve racking... 🤙🤙
One of my rule of thumbs; If I cant charge the 1st battery in the time it takes to finish the 3rd battery then I don't want it. 3 Batteries will give approx. 1 hour of flying so one battery should charge in around 1 hour. This is an ideal but one I try to get along with others.
I used it for a couple of months, worked decent, didn't notice any changes... For the $ price it was ok. Wouldn't sting much if it were to crash or fly away...
Hi, you seem to have most accurate answers on laws. I am not 107 but am a TRUST pilot. I have two questions please. 1) I am buying a house, can I use my recreational status to look at the roof, upoer floors and overall property? (assume no video or picture file sharing with agents or sellers) 2) I think I heard you on another video saying something about if you register a sub 250 gm craft you THEN must comply with remote ID also. Is that totally accurate? I registrred my DJI Mini 2, figured $5 is peanuts and it can be identified in a situation, or maybe a misinformed local sheriff thinking it has to be. I think that reg # applies to all my drones that fit rec. flying. Thanks in advance
Hello! 1) To do any inspections type work, even on your own property, requires a part 107. The exception for "recreational" use is very, very narrow. 2) Correct, if you register the UAS for any reason regardless of the weight then remote ID is required. Since the registration for recreational use is for the pilot and not the specific UAS, only one registration number is needed and it is the same on all UAS. If you use a RID module recreationally, then that module can be moved between drones instead of needing a different one for each drone. Hope this helps.
@@AlienDrones100% correct sir! Follow up -Asked FAA to have reg# deleted as reg. was unnecessary. All reg. drones DO require remote ID. The "three dot" options on FAA drone zone allows drone deletion w/no intervention needed.
Nice review AD! I agree with everything you mentioned in your final commentary. It’s a nice little bird for the price. The quick shots are gimmicky except for the AI track feature which is ok. They need to swap out that horrible optical flow camera for a better one with a bigger lens and add additional sensors on the bottom like ToF/IR or ultrasonic ones, this will improve the low altitude hover after take off. The app can use a make over and they need to invest heavily in true “real-time” “customer support” otherwise it’s just a gamble.
Thanks for sharing. It IS a good little flyer for the price all being said, and a gamble on support might be worth it for the price. Honestly, I've needed official support from manufacturers very seldom (many different manufacturers), and when I did need help, the manufacturer (in general) was not helpful anyway 90% of the time. So the risk of missing support is _probably_ not that big of a deal in reality. 🤙
Thanks a lot! Trying to make a decision between mini and mini2 as a gift for my bf, and this one is looking like a great on-the-budget drone for beginners 🙂
Thanks for the video. Seems like the Potensic Atom is the better choice. How about the comparison of Potensic Atom, DJI (2, 2SE, 3?) and maybe even Cfly? That would be really cool!
I think it's impressive for what it is. I didn't think it would be that good, but I have to be honest, It's definitely an impressive drone. Thanks for sharing Keith. 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing! It has issues, not perfect for sure, but for $239 (I got it for $219) getting a true 3 axis gimbal with 4k camera, 28-ish min battery life and a good flyer with GPS and such it doesn't suck... 😎
Indeed you would think so but I did calibrate it a couple of times days before this actual flight. Afterwards I tried 3 different times just to see if it would get better and it was fairly similar, though it did get about 50% better if there was zero wind. Thanks for sharing! 🤙

Same issues I'm sending it back I'm going to get something different it's only a matter of time before it breaks or gets lost. The whole 720 line was an epic fail apparently.
Indeed, struggled with the 720R. After the third replacement I threw in the towel. It's too bad because it did fly decent and the camera was ok... ruclips.net/video/IFWEJDSladU/видео.html
Unfortunately, after 3 calibrations in 2 different areas, no change or improvement even though the manual states calibration is unnecessary unless prompted. It's still a good little flyer for the price, just not as stable as others, but not unacceptable.
Indeed it's a dilemma for sure. It flies decent, the video is decent, the price is good, Banggood has been okay to deal with from my experience, but I don't know if my experience is typical. Certainly not to the level of Amazon yet. If you have issues with it though the risk is that it is disposable, though I heard from others there are parts available. For a low cost beginner drone it could be okay. It beats some of the junky ones without GPS with no 3-axis gimbal that will crash within 2 minutes... So a dilemma. 🤷♂️
I had a C-Fly I purchased in 2020 from that vendor. I asked for a refund due to the near impossiblity of getting a calibration, near total lack of telemetry in the app, vibration of the drone that was not dampened by the gimbal, and the app crashed EVEry time I used it. I only got it to take off three times out of 15 (no, I did know the unplug and replug trick). A true piece of crap. I got Amex to dispute and refund my entire purchase price. It looks like you get a lot of "bang" for your buck with this, but it is absolutely no "good." I'm not a huge fan of the three-letter company due to their self-imposed geo zone restrictions, but I'd take a Mini 2 SE over this any day.
