I lost a son. He was only 7 weeks old. He would have been 35 this year. A day don't go by I don't thank about him. I just love this group. And love watching you review to all kinds of music.

It's a deeply personal song about Robert coming to terms with his child's untimely death. The concept is that divine beings weave the reality of human life like a tapestry of threads, and that even when a thread seems to go nowhere there may yet be a deeper meaning to the story of human life. One can see how any life, even one made cruelly short by fate, is still significant and present because it is part of the tapestry and has as such has some meaning in it.
Ariane is the French form of the Greek name Ariadne, who saves Theseus by giving him a ball of thread so he could go into the labyrinth, slay the Minotaur and find his way back out. Ariane's thread leads through the maze and out of it. Plant sees himself lost in the maze (or tapestry) because he can't see where the thread of his sons life has lead, cut off as it seems to be before its time, but if only he could have a word from the proud Ariane that his son's thread is really part of the tapestry, he would have the faith to accept that while he has no answer to his grief, that an answer is there somewhere, and that his son's life was more than a feather in the wind. Ariane's thread is also a term in logic that refers to a certain way of figuring out puzzles by thinking through every possibility.
If you review the lyrics carefully you will see that weaving and threads are an integral part of the imagery.

I lost my youngest son 8 years ago, and it is a tough road. This song helped get me through it. It helped me realize the blessings of having my son for the time that I did. My son was 31, but the normal progression that children aren't to go before their parents. But I trust that I will see him again, thank you for doing this song.....brought tears for sure, good tears.

There is an indirect sequel to that song on Page/Plant's 1998 album "Walking Into Clarksdale". The song is called "Blue Train". It is also about Robert's grief of losing his son, twenty years later. I guess some things you just can't forget if you still feel the pain.

Rebeka, you might be intrigued to know that this wonderful track was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden. Both Bjorn
and Benny from ABBA had long been huge admirers of Led Zeppelin, and they personally invited them to Sweden
to record what would sadly be their final album " In Through the Out Door." It was recorded at ABBA`s Polar Studios.
Robert Plant described the studios as " Sensational," and said that they were the best facilities he ever saw or
    recorded in.

Such an emotional song. This whole album is extremely underrated. The more forward placement of JPJ's role in the band was just so amazing to me. Growing up, for some reason I had a tape that had III on one side and In Through The Outdoor on the other. It quickly became my favorite albums of all time (I mean in a combined form, so to speak). I listened to everything Zeppelin constantly, but this combo just had a huge impact on me. The progress of being a blues group during their first three albums to a level of something more akin to the art rock and progressive rock that was going on at the time (while still being deeply trenched in the blues) was just so inspiring to me. Greatest band of all time.

Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light
To chase a feather in the wind
Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight
There moves a thread that has no end
For many hours and days that pass ever soon
The tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?
All of my love, all of my love
All of my love to you, oh
All of my love, all of my love, oh
All of my love to you
The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again
One voice is clear above the din
Proud Arianne one word, my will to sustain
For me, the cloth once more to spin, oh
All of my love, all of my love, oh
All of my love to you
All of my love, all of my love, yes
All of my love to you
Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time
His is the force that lies within
Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find
He is a feather in the wind, oh
All of my love, all of my love, oh
All of my love to you
All of my love, ooh yes, all of my love to you now
All of my love, all of my love
All of my love, love, sometimes, sometimes
    Sometimes, sometimes, oh love
    Hey, hey, hey
    Hey, hey, hey
Ooh yeah, it's all my love
All of my love, all of my love, to you now
All of my love, all of my love
all of my love to, to you, you, you, yeah

The meaning of the song is about more then just Karac, it is also about the relationship with Maureen after they lost the child. Could they're love overcome his loss, and how they began to grow apart slowly but surely after his death! They eventually divorced in 1983 sadly.

I like this look for you, much like the short dark hair, lol anyway. But you can't call this live because the audio from the studio album and the video is from TSRTS

I agree with you Rebeka, He paid tribute to his son the best way he knew how, through his music. And like you said in your description - Just amazing...Sad, but positive at the same time. Another wonderful reaction and analysis.

If you do Eric Clapton, Tears in heaven, bring a box of tissues. Lost my sons that same year. Thank you, keep up the great work.
