- After Poland reacted to the arrival of Wagner mercenary troops to Belarus by moving some of its troops to its eastern border, Russia's President Vladimir Putin accused Warsaw of trying to seize more land in eastern Europe.
Putin claimed there were press reports about forming a Polish-Lithuanian unit that would operate in western Ukraine. He also warned that any attack on Belarus, Moscow's sole ally in Europe, would be treated as an attack on Russia.
"It is well known that they also dream of the Belarusian lands," Putin said.
Speaking ahead of a meeting of Russia's Security Council, Putin said that Russia would respond "with all means at our disposal.

Maybe Putin needs to know more about Poland's history. Poland has never attacked anyone unlike Russia. If Poland is strengthening militarily, it is only to prevent any ambition from Russia (or Belarus, it is the same thing at the moment). Simple, perhaps too simple for Putin?

As someone living in Britain, they're actually quite openly talking about their history. One thing I notice about the British is that they are quite happy to make fun of themselves and their history. They just don't like it when other nations make fun of them, because there's plenty of other nations that also don't acknowledge their negative history.
For example, Netherlands' monarchy apologised for their role in the slave trade although a lot of their nation still has quite high support for the idea of a modern Dutch Empire. It's sort of the opposite in England, where a lot of the common people are upset about the nation's past but the leaders and rulers are not sorry for it.
But yes I totally agree that history is picked, chosen and written by the victors and twisted by the superpowers.

There is no way Poland is going to attack Wagner troops or Russian troops in Belarus, but Poland is more than ready to defend themselves if Russia decides to invade Poland. Putin has made aggressive threats to Poland in the past. Poland has been preparing for an act of aggression by Russia for many years.
Poland isn’t getting invaded. Why would Russia that hasn’t successfully stabilized its position in Ukraine invade Poland that will potentially draw in all of NATO as a response?

What makes it even sadder/funnier is that for all of Russia's history, Ukraine, Poland , &the Baltics have been pyrrhic victories for Russia. And russification had been an epic fail in all five countries.
It seems annexing Crimea and autonomy for eastern Ukraine is Putin's main goal. More important than Finnish and Swedish neutrality. That main goal is still within reach, but we'll just have to see how it plays out. If it's true that USA is pressuring Ukraine to pick up the pace of the offensive, that is not a good sign.
