Anyway the caption about the town on the way from Kyoto to Osaka, it said “Ibaraki Prefecture” but it was actually “Ibaragi City” that is a town in Osaka prefecture.

As you know we Japanese are ultra health conscious today and cakes made today are much less sugar used…. so this cake also lost frost sugar topping I guess and exposing the noodle like cream structure….

Note to travelers, Japan does not have a breakfast culture like other countries. Most Japanese eat breakfast at home. Convenience stores are usually the only thing open for people who need to grab something on the way to work. Like mentioned in the vid, most stores open at 10am. I live in Osaka so looking forward to your next vid! I final Osaka’s electric town much better than Akihabara. There are also a good number of retro game stores in Kobe. Also, most major train stations have a department store built next to them. Therefore, people do grocery shopping there on the way home from work. Keep in mind that these stores are more expensive than a stand alone grocery store but you’re paying for convenience.

If all you were doing was going to the well-known tourist areas like Akihabara in Tokyo or Den Den Town in Osaka then you'll be fine, since the staff in the shops in those areas (Super Potato, Surugaya, etc.) are used to dealing with tons of foreign tourists. You can see in the video that when he went to the narrow Kyoto Surugaya, nearly every other customer was a foreign tourist as well. Be prepared to pay the tourist prices though. MJR paid nearly 9,000 yen for that copy of Saturn Dodonpachi when it's normally closer to 7,000 yen at non-tourist area stores.

as someone who came from kitsap county in washington, i get your reasoning behind not wanting an umbrella, no one in washington uses umbrellas for rain unless you are from out of state lol

I'm always so stoked when people come to the city I live in and have a great time. Even though I've lived here for a long time I always enjoy seeing Kyoto through the eyes of a visitor.

I studied abroad in Japan at a university about 30 minutes between Kyoto and Osaka, and this video hit me with nostalgia harder than it should have. I would go to downtown Kyoto all the time whenever I had a late night to myself, and I always went to the shopping streets and Nishiki Market. Also a new Nintendo store opened in Kyoto while I was in Japan and it's a lot bigger than the Osaka one. There is also two BookOffs within the Sanjo area. One infront of Sanjo Station, and one inside this department store. Highly recommend the Sanjo Station BookOff if you are interested in retro game pickups. There's also an retro arcade nearby called A-cho that has a bunch of CPS and Neo Geo fighting games, as well as a bunch of SHMUP games, three different variations of Tetris, and a Typing of the Dead cabinet. If you ever go back to Japan, give A-cho and BookOff a chance. Also they have a flea market outside of the Heian Shrine in Kyoto. Highly recommend if you are looking for import games.
