What I hate the most, is how much wasted potential there was. This could have been the reborn of WC3, make it popular one last time, even if partially as it once was in its early years. But instead it was worst than the game we had for decades at launch.
They've fixed the biggest issues now, but it's so late I have no hope for the game ever getting the recognition it deserved once more. Its reputation is ruined for most people, maybe forever.

All those custom maps lost.... It was basically the D&D OGL debacle 1.0....
The biggest tragedy is that the game engine, despite all the many issues of the "remake", is evidently still enough of a plus that there are more and more custom campaigns and maps coming out that are made in Reforged instead of at least 1.31.
Not even the custom game scene survived Reforged, man😭
To this day I can't believe that Blizz not only took a perfectly functional game that only needed a few quality of life changes, and not only made it look worse but also stripped it of its features, and they charged 40 usd for it.
You forgot the fact that they removed the original version to prevent players from choosing it over their "remake"

People dont get that rich by caring about their customers, they get rich by exploiting their customers who will still buy all the shit they get served due to some form of benefit-of-the-doubt they give thanks to the goodwill the company used to show them when they were still building themselves up.
How Bobby Kotick left the company with no consequences at all is ridiculous. He put final nail into coffin to Activision, costed them billions in lawsuits, made worst decisions, sexual scandals, murder threats and yet even Microsoft didn't care about it until the man left the company on his own, it just makes me believe this guy is in fact the final boss, above Bill Gates.

if you pay attention to the company gains, blizzard/activision did nothing but gain more and more since bobby took helm, at the cost of the company employees and reputation, he only cared about getting more money and pleasing all the higher ups (including himself).

I remember when I've finished playing WC3TFT and I was like "wow I cannot imagine how good WC4 will be, I cannot wait to play it in couple of years". And here we are 20 years later with WC3R.

Thanks for all the work you did on Warcraft 3. Could I ask if you're as (cautiously) optimistic about Microsoft taking over Blizzard as Wtii is in regards to War3? I don't dare get my hopes high, but would love to get your feel for it.
Well... Sammy left... And a lot of old school folks were just laid off. I was no fan of Adham or Ybarra, so no loss there. But at this point, I can count on one hand the people still at Blizzard that I would trust (because I personally worked with them) to make something good.
Or to quote myself: "Blizzard is dead, stop holding out hope that it's coming back." If anything positive comes out of this, it will be something different from the Blizzard we knew. @@marioreja

Bro I gotta say, I played Wc1, Wc2 and Wc3 throughout my childhood. WC3 gave me some of my best memories as a kid playing custom games. I love watching your content because it brings me back there. You're such a chill dude and thank you for keeping the heart of what's left of this game alive.

Absolutely devastating to see what they were planning for a Warcraft 1 remake. This game was my childhood.
I only played that one's demo. By the it was the WC3 era and SC2 was going to come out. Don't try playing the OG now.
If they redevelop the game then we could still see it. It definitely sounds like something they are planning if they had that survey. Since Microsoft was essentially forced to buy it they are going to make their money back, but they won't do it at the expense of everything at least.
Some modding guys not connected to blizzard has been remaking the warcraft 2 story in warcraft 3 reforged.

remember when there was a mod team working on a remastered warcraft 3? and they were essentially forgotten about and had to establish themselves as an actual development studio to even get something out of it? they would have made a FAR BETTER remaster.
I think their project was named Warcraft - Armies of Azeroth. Damn it’s too bad they were pushed away by Blizzard like this
Definitely needed a mod community to do a remaster man. Instead we got entry lvl devs and an uninterested project manager. This is a passion project game. That’s why SOD is doing well, all the main people are old WoW sweats who actually enjoyed the game
This hurts me deeply. I still remember how excited I was when I watched the WC3 Reforged announcement trailer. It was probably the most hyped I'd been for anything in years. Now we still have this half-complete, half-broken product... and they STILL REFUSE to give us back the original!

As probably most people, I didn't know there were plans for a WC1 and WC2 campaign within Reforged... If only that could come out of a properly made Reforged WC3, I'd be happy with it. The ideas were great. Hard watch, Blizzard slammed WC3 Classic to the ground..
Modders made the Warcraft 2 Orc campaign in Reforged. You should look it up, Chronicles of the Second War.
Me neither. I remember there being a WC2 project back in WC3 Frozen Throne. It was only a few missions though.
@@spikem5950 Im well aware of the modders remake. They had a teaser Chapter 1 last year. Im saying I didnt know Blizzard intended for it. We all thought Reforged is reworked graphics, as they called it a "reforge" not "remake". Looking at how that guy wrote the script for the WC1 campaign, I know the shit was gonna be insane. Look at the Campaigns they came up with in 2002/2003. Too bad they lost the old developpers bcuZ of the idiotic directiom the company went and the disregard WC3 received.
Meanwhile AOE2:DE which adds new things every months even tho it's based on a game much older than WC3.
Let's hope Microsoft will rescue WC3R

AoE:DE has DLC factions, and only even released, because they screwed up with HD, letting people turn off the DLC. They had to make a whole new game to roll that back.

As much as the recent huge lay off's at blizzard by Microsoft are symptomatic of larger issues in the industry reaching critical mass, it does show that Microsoft is willing to be hands on, very hands on if they really think it needs to happen.
So there is a somewhat reasonable hope that, considering Microsoft hard remastered and expanded age of empires 1, 2 and 3 and then made a brand new 4. That they would do the same for another well known granddaddy of RTS and other genres.
Its free money basically but punlishers like EA also cba to make a remaster let alone remake of tibsun/ra2. Hopefully Microsoft is smarter then that
@@VonFreklstein the pixely graphics of tiberian sun are a work of art, it could look so cool if handled correctly. AoE2 is actually the perfect example of how to add new content to ancient titles. And it's probably down to the fact that forgotten empires started as a fan project, it's basically too competently made to be the work of a professional studio.

Man, you're really a champ for sticking to this once beloved, now turned utter garbage game, it's even sadder to see that they had a few very nice ideas on how to make it.
I've been watching your stuff for something like ten years now, boy how much time has passed. I learned how to play from you and was even somewhat decent at 4v4rt with night elves, I remember meeting your muppets in bot hosted LTD games way back when (can't remember if it was Overclocked, Legolas or some other past regulars. I was always stoked to meet a niche internet micro-celebrity and I'd always vent to them my frustration over how dubious your LTD game is after so many years).
It's been a wild ride. I would however rather drink bleach than give blizz the 30 bucks for reforged. Your videos scratch the itch for wc3 that I can never fully satisfy anymore.

I am so glad I found this channel many years ago. WTii is probably the most stable content creator I know on YT, allways appriciative of his fans, no BS with this guy. I remember thanking him for getting med back into WC3, and when reforged launched I wanted to personally thank him for getting med back into my favourite childhood game. His reply "Great, welcome back, did you crash yet?" gave him the status of legend on my part. Keep it up mate!

I have the SD version on my bnet. I bought Reforged in summer 2023 when it was on sale. Battlenet could not switch to the Reforged version after my purchase was completed. The goodies like the Warcraft consoles in StarCraft 2 worked, but not the game itself. So I made the WarCraft 3: Refunded.

The two crazy graphic mod overhauls - ReReforged and Quenching, is the REAL reforged game. It's mainly for the main campaign but it can be used in multiplayer.

As someone who last daily played wc3 like 15+ years ago and only now bought Reforged i’m happy with how it looks and plays , campaign and custom games for me works fine , but what i remember is people saying that custom games now belongs to blizzard (microsoft?) , that seems not good i guess.. but overall i like Reforged

They put more effort into making a female demon hunter for "inclusivity" than actually do things that matter.
I haven’t bought a Blizzard game since og WC3 and xpac. When this was announced I called my friends from high school who used to play it together. We made arrangements to get it and play it together. Luckily I don’t preorder games. I can’t believe they managed to screw something so cherished so badly.
There is still a way to play original WC3 (maybe even with friends!).
Needs a little bit of work and some a little bit of illegal actions ;-)

Thanks for the update. Played 4v4 RT religiously as a kid but Reforged looked so rough that I never bothered picking it up. Hopefully Microsoft can fix its remaining problems (and also release it on Game Pass).

I pretty much grew up with the Warcraft universe, having played the game when I was around ~5-7 years old and also having one of my parents play it. Made several friends playing the custom maps in ~2010... Still to this day remains one of my favorite fantasy settings ever, but man does it hurt to see what was promised and what we got in the end. Although part of me still has a sliver of hope that they might make it right.
