Just beautiful. Heart touching and so charming how the adult founds himself in the child. These is why i love this studios. Shows the best part of live and encourage a lot. Love it
I remember watching this short a loooonnggg time ago (I don't even think RUclips was a thing back then, if it was, it was barely starting.) But every few years, I remember it and try to find it again and it always lives up to how amazing it was in my memory.
I literally go through the EXACT same process... I'll always here a piano riff that reminds me of this and i spend around 10 minutes trying to remember the name (Inevitably putting The Pianist as my first thought, then luckily google still finds this for me) Beautiful piece of art this is.
YuppyPlays holy shit, i actually cant believe how much this sounds like me. I watched this video years ago, every so often think of it and try finding it. Then forget what it's called again. had to Google "the piano player animation, boys parents fight" to get a yahoo answers of someone asking for the same video and an answer with the link. This video is touching, and honestly I can't believe how people all act the same way about it
Hi Jazza, i found this video through your AMA on reddit. Oh man! I'm 36, i was in army for 8 years, twice in Afghanistan and you nearly made me cry with this fantastic piece of art. Thank you for your channels. Thank you to be a little, little, little part of your life. I wish i could be a part of your next arty party. But from Germany to Australia is for me (at the moment) like to fly to the moon. Best wishes to you and your family. Karsten
This is it. This is what movies are all about, even though it is only a short clip. No glimmer or glamour. Simple well made animations with a masterpiece of music attached and a storyline interesting enough to attract attention and something you can relate to. I have seen 2 hour long movies, that had lesser emotions than this. And this one only lasted for 5 minutes. For creating this, you sir, are a genious. Dont ever stop sharing this kind of stuff to people.
After having an absolutely horrible day after months and months of continuous hardship I knew, deep in my heart, that this video was exactly what I needed to experience to soothe my soul and let myself cry it all out. As a child of divorce this video always struck a chord with me from the first moment I watched it on Newgrounds. My heart breaks and is made whole every time I watch. There are no word that can truly express the gratitude I feel towards the true composer of this masterful piece of art and music. Maybe one day I could write a song to give a body to those unknowable words. Simply put, thank you for making this and thank you for maintaining it's presence for so many years. It's a generational lesson to be carried on to the next.
This was one of the first videos I every saw on the internet. Newgrounds. I have never been able to watch it without crying. As time has gone on, it has been at different points in the song. Thank you for making this.
This is such a good video, what a genuinely stellar piece of art, the animation is solid, the story is perfectly woven and beautiful and gives the best story that speaks without being spoken about, with amazing music that sounds like it’s inspired by Debussy, specifically arabesque no. 1, which makes me like this even more since Debussy is my favorite composer and arabesque no.1 is my favorite piece ever written, truly a perfect melody(maybe even no. 2 as well). It truly is a piece of art that can convey exactly as it wants without having to say anything. And as Leonard Bernstein so eloquently put it “music can name the unnamable and communicate the unknowable..”. Truly gorgeous, thank you Jazza
I play this video on the piano all the time, and its one of my favorite songs. I'll just close my eyes and let my fingers play the song that tells such an amazing story of gains and losses in ones life. Its so heart felt, and beautiful, it makes me cry nearly every time. Truly a work of genius art.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyy :) jazza has inspired me to make animations and I was so happy when he said he started when he was 12 i am 12 and just starting I just find it soooooo cool cause he is such an inspiration to me.
Kalyna Brockdorf I first saw this a few years back but I try and rewatch it about every couple of years just to let it hit me in the feels again ye know
This is one of the most brilliantly animated mvoies. It has the ability to touch your heart and, at the same time, make you smile with joy. The protagonist was an amazing example about how dreams do come true and even if they don't last forever, they can still have a lasting effect on others. Congratualtions on making an amazing animation.
I remember seeing this on Newgrounds years ago. Love this to bits. Amazing and meaningful clip. Some how I manage to remember this at random times and watch it a few times a year lol. Thank you :)
I remember seeing this years ago and it still resonates with me. Such a beautiful thing to stumble over as a teenager going through much of the same heartache and joy. I don't think I'll ever forget this flash. :)
absolutley moving, a young boy with a torn family rises from the ashes and fear and has become great. i tear up at this animation when he begins to cry while playing on sidewalk, this stuff happens everyday and sometimes we just stand around and dont care
Oh... this is the best animation that I've ever seen... Really cool, great work... it seems really hard to make... you are really good at this... congratulations! I really like it...
This is such a deep emotional animation. Just because the quality isn’t award winning, doesn’t mean it’s not good. I’m sorry you had to go through things like this. It happens to the best of us.
As a musician this really filled my heart it really makes you think how some family’s don’t have it like all we do and it makes me just want to give all I can
This video has moved me in such a way im coming bk to it since the first time i've watched it. I've become a very successful musician with this video as my initial beggining... if it werent for this video my carreer never wouldve started that cafe around the corner never had me play in it but no, i play my heart out and i may be recieving a contract soon enough. When i fall from my career i will be sure to search out man in need and help him in his career.
This is relatable for me in many ways. My father never got along with my mother and still doesn't. He's never really around and in this video,I use things like music, animation, and video games as an escape for these things. They're divorced but I know a lot of people are really positive and have many inspirational quotes, but,I prefer the truth. People may not be able to be whatever they want to be and things aren't always great, but,it's better if we find something to do we escape from reality.
This is the most emotional short film I've ever seen. It's actually changed my whole life. The story is unbeliveibly beautiful and the music is perfectly reflects the mood of the character. I love this short film. Thanks for the video!
Life is something to be cherished in every form.I remeber seeing this video the first week it came out and it still blows my mine how emotional it can get. Their was only one thing that bothered me, when he was a teenager he looked old enough to move out alrdy.
Even though this video is 7 years old already, I still cannot put the feelings after watching this video into appropriate words. This is just. You did a very good job on creating this. I myself as a fellow musician feel with you.
i saw this when i first started playing music or close to it and loved it, now after 9 years into my music career, i still love this video. thank you very much for creating it and communicating the importance of music.
Wow.. That was ... incredible. The way you manage to express the feelings of the characters in this movie was.. extradinary. This is a movie that should be watch be the whole world. Great.
This is so touching and heart warming, I rarely say this since I am a crude loudmouthed person who takes joy in anothers pain, but this, it hits me right here. *Pounds chest*
I watched this video when it was originally on Newgrounds, and I come back to it every now and then just because it is such a simple and lovely piece of animation.
I played the violin when I was younger, so I understand how this music feels, and how it speaks. It's just so good. Same with your other animation. Thank you jazza.
Dude i'v watched this animation years ago, and because of it , i started loving music more and doing more animation and digital art, and today its the first time i know that it was you who made it , and its always like i'v watched it the first time even though your more better now than then , love the feeling , dude thank you
I love this vid, I saw it originally on NG, and I was immediatly touched. Im now practicing this with my band. I love to have music to clear your mind, just with this kid, instead of crying in a corner like most kids...
I'm a musician and I know what that is... Music is the expression of our souls... Loved it... add on my Orkut... and add on my favorites.... congratullations for that...
absolutely beautiful... amazing.. i have no idea how you would've thought of this... there are no words to describe this godlike piece of music, with such imagination that comes from the heart, its absolutely beautiful....
wow... the most beautiful animation i have ever seen in a long time. i love it no more than love it to that point where i can not find words to describe it such a powerful piece of animation -C.Cam
absolutely amazing... this really put tears in my eyes... and that really doesn´t happen often with me. I really love this masterpiece, and I hope that you will make more like this.
He looked sad throughout his whole life; that emotion probably fueled his music. It goes to show that fame does not bring happiness. Just because everyone knows of someone does not me he has a lot of friends.
My story has only begun, though it started when I used to play while my parents fought, too. Though it was on an electric keyboard in my bedroom instead. A wonderful story. It really hit home.
wow... simply touching so deep, jazza man your awsome... i mean basically when his family is breaking he plays outside to the world... and the old man comes and gives him a few dollars and his career is started and then he is no longer popular when a boy next door is having problems too... its basically the same thing over again... love this
wow that was great! its like how he's pushed through the years and kinda sad too how like w/e rock is taking over but that some ppl still appreciate the joy of good classic music :) great video

Tale teller is probably his best work so far. I'm in love with it now.

Great piece of work you have here. I haven't cried like that in quite some time. Good to let it all out once a blue moon.
Here from the sketchbook tour and I love this
Beautiful animation - the hands playing the piano are perfect, great job!
This, caught me in awe when i saw it 3 or so years ago. Now, its what got me started on playing piano.
This story may not have words but it need none to describe trhe beauty it holds. Music trully can beits own work of art.
really makes you think... i almost got a little emotional there. One of the most inspiring videos.
I'm a musician and I know what that is...
Music is the expression of our souls...
Loved it... add on my Orkut... and add on my favorites....

that's the best music animation in a long time. wow...just...wow. too good for describing.
can still feel the heart & soul of this piece after 6-7 years
Can't stop watching this.... I showed this it my gf yesterday and she cried......

No matter how long music lives, Classical will always live on.
Almost 20 years later and it still is amazing, made me cry but i love it🖤💛✨
Doesn't matter what language you speak. Music communicates with all. LOVE this video!!
wow that was great! its like how he's pushed through the years and kinda sad too how like w/e rock is taking over but that some ppl still appreciate the joy of good classic music :) great video
For every lost soul, there is still talent inside.
