Very nice video. It is sad traffic does not respond to you approaching but I guess that is typical. I was a volunteer 40 years ago and it was the same then. Cars now are better insulated but they still have review mirrors for the driver to monitor while driving. Stay safe.
Peter McGovern- They are trying to get out if the way as quick as possible. In their minds moving 5 feet to the left considering they are in the left lane is the quickest option. I don't understand why so many people ask this question. I know as do most that you are supposed to move to the "right" for emergency vehicles, but sometimes your mind doesn't process things fast enough.
A better question was - Why did he think he had to stay in the passing lane just because he had his lights and sirens activated? If someone pulls to the left (that far), go to the right!
I have had people slow down and stop to make a left turn with us coming up on them full code response. Federal Q blaring and air horn blasting. Some people must just really be unaware of their surroundings when driving and it's kinda sad and scary to think about.
Nice driving DC 1401, Florida is that way too, drivers are told to pull to the closest curb. It was like driving down a serpentine course at times. Glad I don't do that anymore .
1401 you did an awesome job with this video even POV if we can barely get by in our POV how the heck they think we going to get that engin or tanker through those tight holes. People should always have to experience either riding in a tanker with that 1,000 gallon stainless steel tank on the truck. Or let them drive it with all that water swishing back and forth and have cars pull to left just enoughed so you hit their exposed ass sitting on the left shoulder. If I get an occupied structure fire I'm carrying their trunk and bumper with me most likely and explaining why to the chief when we 10-24 a scene then go 10-8 and wait for the next one. watching all your videos 1401. Great driving again brother. Two thumbs up👍👍

10 minutes is a long time you must be in a really big district. We respond in our district within 10 minutes thankfully from home to station to scene. People think it's easy sometimes and question "what took so long?!?". You do your absolute best with each call. People have to understand what it takes to get to a call and how much goes into it.

Hey I've been watching your videos for a while and I was wondering what kind of siren you were using in this video. It sounds like one that I have which is the Smart Signal SS670
Dustin Amy your garmin shows GPS locations and starts from your home on lovers lane. don't know if you knew you were giving out your home address on your video.
Yes, well... Think about it for a bit. No one truly can hide on the internet. Even without the GPS info, my street numbers are on my house when I pull away. Even without that... anyone who knows how to look at a map can count streets that are in my videos. Knowing where I live isn't a problem. We all know where the President lives, the Governor, and many officials. You might even know where a Federal Judge lives or maybe the Police Chief in your area. Does knowing where someone lives endanger the lives of their family? No, but if you you should decide to visit me with any other intention besides a cold beverage, then that's where laws take over, particularly those for self defense under the Castle Doctrine. Everything I do outside my home is viewable by the the public, just as it is for you. I am happy to share this part of my life with everyone, just as I am hoping you all are happy watching it.
Not sure if you still run this youtube account or not, but if you do I have some gear you might love to add to your vehicle sir. Feel free to reach out to me! Great videos!
Good vid overall. Only suggestion would be a deeper toned siren than the halls, like a Carson, ppwercall, or such. Doppler effect is a bitch for road clearing. It's a problem that has plagued falls for years.nalternarively a higher volume output could counteract that. Do disagree with comments saying to get a rumbler or a eq2b. Eqbsuffers from the same Doppler effect problem, and the rumbler has a remarkably short range, resulting in the same "moving when 5ft away" issue here. Sadly can't fix stupid in drivers so have to do what you can instead
I realize this was over 5 years ago but the science doesn't change. The reason people don't move over sooner is not necessarily their fault. In emergency services everywhere support vehicles are usually equipped with 100 watt siren systems. Law Enforcement, fire dept. support vehicles and some EMS are equipped that way unless they are specifically designed to have bigger batteries and alternators installed. Fire apparatus do... The Chief did a fine job responding but did you catch his speed during the response? A few times he reached speeds over 80 mph. According to the National Safety Council and others once your speed exceeds 60 mph you are outrunning the sound of your siren. The driver hears it but the public does NOT until you are on top of them. At 40 mph your siren is heard only 10 - 15 feet in front of you. Couple that with how quiet a vehicle interior is, radio playing, kids carrying on, etc. it is very possible those drivers don't know that EV is there until the last second. And yes, there are those drivers that just don't give a damn!
Arkansas Outdoorsmen not according to ifsac evoc training. a national certification. The everyday driver expects emergency vehicles to pass left, consistency ensures public safety. In controlled circumstances, like on this call, passing on the right happened, only because there's no shoulder on the left and traffic was stopped about twenty cars deep. I did this because I could control a safe outcome.
I have been in Fire/EMS for about 15 years, and throughout that time I have never seen someone drive so reckless. I have held every rank in the service I know what it's like for comments that will come from the peanut gallery. You do realize if you hit someone or wrecked your vehicle going over the railroad tracks doing 92 MPH while on the cell phone none the less is reckless driving, reckless endangerment of the other motorists around you, among other things. Most Vehicle and traffic laws let emergency vehicles exceed the speed limit by 10 or 15 Miles Per Hour at the most not 30 over the speed limit when you are already late to the party. Your ability to use due regard as an emergency vehicle operator is unbelievable and I would suggest slowing down before you hurt someone or you hurt yourself. Unbelievable and these are the people who they allow to have lights an sirens in there personal vehicles. Typically Jolly Volly one fire per year and they spank it all the way to the call. 2nd alarm either it was just wrapping up and you made it to the end or that was a ridiculous command decision to strike a 2nd alarm. Would you look at that you rushed 95 Miles per hour to get there in time for over haul. Great job there Chief Great job! I hope I never end up in your district because that was nuts.
@@Mega747400 Career bitch we are the people who actually get the job done and make sure there is no delay no crew go mutual aid ha that never happens in a career service ever
Well, I did once, it broke. That was years ago. Now, I don't see much interior action, so I really haven't considered it again. I do have a pair of sunglasses with a camera that maybe one day, I'll remember to grab on the way out... that might be interesting.
Ok because im going to be a volunteer firefighter in my state I live in Georgia and I want to have a firecam to put on my helmet and post videos on my RUclips channel and my mom said that I would have to ask my chief when I do become a volunteer firefighter this year would they let me use a firecam or should I wait and ask the fire chief when I do become a volunteer firefighter
stephen peel, well that depends. What I do and allow in my department doesn't make a hill of beans anywhere else. We all may fight fire the same, but department policies differ greatly from Dept to Dept.. For example, I have a strict social media policy. My members can wear helmet cams, but the video needs to be approved before posting so that there's not a chance of sensitive information getting out from an ongoing investigation. I recommend that You find these policies out from your department first before you do anything.
However due to uh.. I guess relativistic lorentz velocity transformations, it can become challenging to hear the higher end notes of the siren tone as it is increased in tone by the vehicle approaching you at a velocity faster than you are traveling. ...that being said, he's the chief and if I remember correctly, also LEO, and he's recording his responses... so if anyone in the appropriate place of power over him would want to ridicule him for breaking some potential code or law would have likely done it already. Edit: Sorry, I've been lost in lectures all day. But yeah, the second sentence is my main point. lol
You need to watch your videos and just ask your self . I delayed 25 min. is it worth driving to the point that I might kill someone on the way. I'm a retired Fire capt./Ems and worked as a medic for the Swat team. If a cop saw you driving like that here in Florida he would have fallowed you to the scene wrote you some tickets. In your Pov the laws are not the same as if you were on the fire truck. you can't go into oncoming traffic , you have to stay in the left lane and stop at traffic lights before going and 15 mph over is the max. This is to help you now the laws. I retired after doing this for 35 year and seeing some young firemen get killed driving their Pov on a call(killed 2 firemen an a child) all over going to fast. I wish you the best and my god bless you
Stephen Wallace I doubt that will all those spelling errors your response laws are different then his and he cleared the intersections beautifully he didn’t blast through them he stopped and cleared them 15 over is also not true in my state we are allowed to do 70 no matter what the speed limit is
Maybe for the volly's that aren't line officers. I know here in PA, the lower guys have blue lights and can't run red lights, or go through red on intersections. They're called "courtesy lights"... aka "can I get by you so I can get to the station faster". But the red lights/sirens on chief's vehicles and POV's.... you can go through intersections once clear (on red) and speed.... so yeah. also, chances are that 100% of the time, the cops who "would be following you" are going to already be at the scene, and won't even see you responding...
Actually, depending on the state, he may be considered an emergency vehicle, which I believe he is. Here in Wisconsin, an Emergency vehicle MAY, proceed into oncoming traffic, proceed through stop lights and signs (after slowing to clear the intersection), and much more.
Dustin Amy Dang congrats! Love your videos, I am also a Texas FF I have the same Garmin dash cam. I need to do some update videos. Haven't done one since I switched vehicles 2 years ago.
Dustin Amy it is probably how you render them, when I transfer mine look fine. When I render them to Facebook/RUclips they sometimes mess up like that.
Watching every single of these idiots FAILING to pull over to the right is infuriating. Here in Wa state, if you fail to pull over for lights and sirens and a cop/trooper, LEO sees it, it's an automatic $965 ticket NO WARNINGS!
Dave Burgess He's the chief who just returned from out of town. It was a structure fire with multiple agency involvement and he had to get there to assume commend of the scene. Yes, 25 minutes after the first call went out- he's responsible for those men and women.
It doesn't matter who assumed command, when its his fire in his district that he runs so he can assume command whenever he wants! I would respond code 3 to a 2nd Alarm fire no matter how long it has been going on too like hello!
Looks like - most folks like to hog the left lane, even when nobody is in the right lane, which is mostly done by drivers of trucks and vans. Must be a man-thing.
I don't understand why people have to wait for the emergency veichles to come an inch away from them before they actually move over.
At road speed your out running your siren... have to be a few feet away for them to here your siren.... this guy needs a rumbler siren
@@sedrichuffman1350 they should be looking in their mirrors enough to see the flashing lights behind them from a distance

Ok thanks
Dustin Amy what dash cam do you use?
2:41 - this guy's got the right idea!
5:43 - this one does not. 😐
IF YA HEAR SIRENS OR SEE LIGHTS, MOVE TO THE ------> PEOPLE!!
You happened to be in Texas? I used to live there and they have the shittiest drivers in the world!!!!!
nevermind... wrote this before I seen the Texas State Trooper.. shoulda known. smh
brianjirish try living in Houston lol I swear the worst drivers in America live in Houston
I thought the worst drivers lived in Florida.
NO!! The worst drivers live in Vegas!!
No from videos I have seen is NYC
Awesome Chief!
The video is 9:11
Are you the main chief?
Do you not have lights on the front of your vehicle? Lol
Sure wish in my state we could use sirens 🚨
90 + mph??? really ??? ever heard the saying out run your siren ???
The speed of sound is 767 mph you literally can't
However due to uh.. I guess relativistic lorentz velocity transformations, it can become challenging to hear the higher end notes of the siren tone as it is increased in tone by the vehicle approaching you at a velocity faster than you are traveling.
...that being said, he's the chief and if I remember correctly, also LEO, and he's recording his responses... so if anyone in the appropriate place of power over him would want to ridicule him for breaking some potential code or law would have likely done it already.
Edit: Sorry, I've been lost in lectures all day.
But yeah, the second sentence is my main point. lol
Hey, wouldn't you want the first responders to get to you or your place as fast as possible??
Alive n Well and Happy - I'm not arguing against the driving if you're @'ing me. =P
Look at the silver truck coming out @4:10 though he even almost passed the car in front of him
You need to watch your videos and just ask your self .
Read the description he is a chief and responded to assume command.
Chiefs have to follow the law too.
U good?
I love pov I made two vid on them
Surprised this guy did not cause an accident, Thank goodness he responded and answered his phone. I feel safe.
why is there hesitations in your video?
driving 90+ miles an hour is a great way to represent the department..
Has to get to the scene so he is good as far as that goes
I know right...not like there’s an emergency...he should definitely be going the speed limit as an emergency responder...🤦🏽
Nice air horn usage
Do you Need so Long to get to the Fire Station? In Germany we need usually 2 minutes.
Feulex all depends where you live. Keep in mind, there are states in the US bigger then a lot of countries
4:14 crunch! The white Ram just rammed that sedan.
Need the rumbler siren
Pull all their licenses HOLY FUCK!!!
Now everyone in the world knows your gps cord to your house!!!!
Chief now?
Glock22Mischief since January.
Dustin Amy Dang congrats! Love your videos, I am also a Texas FF I have the same Garmin dash cam. I need to do some update videos. Haven't done one since I switched vehicles 2 years ago.
Do you have the same video skipping issues I do on my videos from that dashcam?
Dustin Amy it is probably how you render them, when I transfer mine look fine. When I render them to Facebook/RUclips they sometimes mess up like that.
Watching every single of these idiots FAILING to pull over to the right is infuriating. Here in Wa state, if you fail to pull over for lights and sirens and a cop/trooper, LEO sees it, it's an automatic $965 ticket NO WARNINGS!
Good driving, stay safe out there brother!
Running code 3 ... 25 minutes after the page ... nuff said!
Dave Burgess He's the chief who just returned from out of town. It was a structure fire with multiple agency involvement and he had to get there to assume commend of the scene. Yes, 25 minutes after the first call went out- he's responsible for those men and women.
jason david chief should know better, he's not essential anymore
Dave Burgess I thought the same
Sorry, but 25 minutes in, someone has ALREADY assumed command!
