POV Responding to 2 alarm Structure Fire. Restaurant, smoke and flames showing.
A delayed response, I was on my way home from out of town when the call came in. Medium to heavy traffic, with some drivers who really don't know what to do when they see an emergency vehicle coming from behind. Before Y'all start asking the questions on the comments below... Yes, I am the Chief and I responded to assume command.

Rolling up on an MVA right after it happened in rush hour

Two car MVA in probably one of the worst places to be in rush hour... 30 stories above a ship channel on a bridge. Google Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge and you'll see what I mean.
POV responding Code 3 to tree fire (scene)
Просмотров 12 тыс.8 лет назад
Got an early morning call for a tree on fire. upon arrival, found a large palm tree on fire with frons impinging on primary power lines and sparking. The extreme humidity of that morning probably played a role. As usual, in the same place everytime, someone doesn't know how to properly yield to an emergency vehicle.

Responded in my POV to a car accident involving an 18 wheeler and a small SUV. Driver of the SUV had minor injuries but needed to be extracted from the vehicle. This is a response all the way to the scene.
Sad news about my POV Suburban

Well, I totaled my Suburban... I put it into park and got out of the vehicle with it still running... only, the gear stick didn't make it all the way to park. It stopped in reverse. when I came out of the house, I found the truck across the street into a tree. Yes, I'm a bonehead! I was on my way to a call too, a big brush fire... I didn't make it. But this video also contains the Phoenix from ...

POV responding to MVA blocking freeway

(This is my first time doing the editing thing on the computer... Let me know what you think in the comments.) I was on my way home when page came out for call. Started the camera (i.e. my iPhone) after I went enroute. I met the engine and command at the scene.
Exercising the bumper nozzles on Brush 2

Needing to cycle some water, I fine tuned the bumper nozzles. An excellent tool when a quick attack is needed. Plus the truck can pump and roll, so attacking a long fire line can be done with speed and ease.
POV response for gas leak, and yet another failure to yield.

What is it about that one area that people just don't pay attention.

POV responding to station for MVA with grass fire. Plus one failure to yield big time.

There seems to always be a driver who can't see or hear me when I'm code 3. It's almost always in the same spot too. Got cancelled, continued to the station, then got another accident close to the first one. If you listen close, I was pretty vocal on this one.
Responding POV to station for grass fire. Pt. 2

This is part two of the code 3 run. It's in two parts because the recording was interrupted. In this video, you will notice the approx 300 ft of grass fire just in their her side of the freeway as I pass it enroute to the station. Made it back with the brush truck 3 minutes later.
Responding POV to station for grass fire on freeway. Pt. 1

The video got interrupted, so there's two parts. This part shows a hairy intersection crossing and a vehicle that would not yield till I was on top of him. This my first response with the dual sirens.
POV responding to report of train derailment

This ended up being a false report. I passed the scene on the way to the station. I saw nothing. This will be the part that I slowed down and cycled the siren. I thought I found a Union Pacific employee responding, but that was just someone hitting their lights too. When I saw no sign of carnage, I continued to the station.

2006 Chevy Suburban POV Emergency light upfit
That V8 sounds so good redlined
Any Idea on where I could look to find that console? I have a 2006 Tahoe and am looking for this or a similar console to install to fit right where this one is mounted. Thanks!
The STL brand has come a long way now. Their stuff looks a lot better than the stuff they put out when first going into business. Still a cool setup though!
They upgrading the control box another control box coming in 2024 or before 2024
You should take a good look at Federal Signal. They make a very good lights/siren setup.
Today's modern vehicles are made to be as quiet as possible inside the cab. Unless my windows are down, I most likely won't hear you coming, and when I do, I have no idea from what direction the siren is coming from or going. I don't recognize povs as emergency vehicles. If you don't have the exact same equipment as an official vehicle, it's your responsibility to get there as safe as you can, not my responsibility to figure out who you are. Another thing, you're telling me no one was closer and you have to drive that far just to get to a station? No wonder it takes forever for help to arrive. I can get to the er going the speed limit in 10-15 min. In an emergency, 5 min. Time it takes for anyone to show up dialing 911, 45 min.
thank you for your service ma'am.
It will be nice to have the Code 3Z3 Banshee Siren!
Police
thats a lot of emergency cars for 1 vehicle accident
Get a rumbler siren
I hope your still alive I was looking forward to your new response vehicle swtup
I can't stand ambulances that don't have air horns. The ambulance in this video is likely a van cab and chassis or pickup truck cab and chassis. The ambulances in my town are Freightliners and they're LOAD AS F*CK! If you can't see them coming, then you shouldn't be driving.
I know this video is old but damn that camera is terrible. The way it corrects itself and moves around makes me want to have a seizure lmao
Why did you stop uploading
I know it's frustrating when a vehicle won't move, but however you could've easily moved into the other lane to go around them. Maybe they were hard of hearing or maybe deaf, ? All emergency vehicle's still must obey all traffic law's
I realize this was over 5 years ago but the science doesn't change. The reason people don't move over sooner is not necessarily their fault. In emergency services everywhere support vehicles are usually equipped with 100 watt siren systems. Law Enforcement, fire dept. support vehicles and some EMS are equipped that way unless they are specifically designed to have bigger batteries and alternators installed. Fire apparatus do... The Chief did a fine job responding but did you catch his speed during the response? A few times he reached speeds over 80 mph. According to the National Safety Council and others once your speed exceeds 60 mph you are outrunning the sound of your siren. The driver hears it but the public does NOT until you are on top of them. At 40 mph your siren is heard only 10 - 15 feet in front of you. Couple that with how quiet a vehicle interior is, radio playing, kids carrying on, etc. it is very possible those drivers don't know that EV is there until the last second. And yes, there are those drivers that just don't give a damn!
Just regular Texas rush hour traffic.
You… live on a Lovers Lane???
Why respond like that when you admit that you are responding 25 minutes after initial dispatch? Pointless and dangerous. Officer or not, looks like you responded that way because you can. Totally unnecessary.
Usually law enforcement or fire vehicles have their pa/siren speaker out in the front. I can’t see yours so I’m assuming maybe it’s under the hood. I have mine under the hood and it squelches db on the siren. Maybe mount it on that pusher rack you have on the front of the vehicle and it will be heard better.
Nice and clean. OCD approved. Lol
U need the rumbler siren
Seeing this video 4 years later. Interesting how the skyline of Corpus Christi has changed so quickly with the construction of the new Harbor Bridge.
Thats really dope
since you have video of you responding, can that be handed over to law enforcement as evidence of their failure to yield?
Sorry folks..if the mph indicator is correct there is NO REASON to be responding in excess of 80 MPH...no matter what the call.
This may be a Longshot question but what size havis console is that I currently own a 2003 chevy suburban and in need of a center console
FEDERAL GALLS???
Hi Dustin Amy I'm curious about why you have red and blue emergency warning lights on your car. Idk maybe that is the rules for your state but all I can say is that in my state of New Jersey we are only allowed to use eathier all blue emergency warning lights or a combination of blue and white emergency warning lights. Can you explain what the light laws are for your state and why you are allowed to have red and blue emergency warning lights that would be great thanks
As a volunteer firefighter are you allowed lights and siren in your POV in Texas or is it only for command personnel?
Different states have different rules. In Ohio I can run lights and sirens on my pov
Now a days people don't like to move over
What Grille Guard is that for the suburban?
Dumb ass drivers
You need a Q2B on that thing lol
Please please uh real lights like feniex and or whelen or federal signal or even strobes n more
Where did you purchase your lightbar and was if very expensive and who makes that brand...thanks
I'm from the Penacook/Concord Area here in New Hampshire and all the POV's for the Penacook Rescue Squad have Red, White and Amber-Light's [No Blue's]. Blue Lights are Police Vehicles. And Green Lights are Security Vehicles. But every state is either the same or different.
I'm from upstate new york and work as a volunteer firefighter, our POVs use ONLY Blue lights.
I’d recommend better siren usage and less bullhorn at junctions if you want a better response.
I wonder if he still has this
Now I know why our chiefs are sometimes annoyed on arrival.
Miss yall
When I was an EMT in NYC most vehicles just slammed on their brakes in front of you. You have it good, at least they move over even if it is to the left.
I also have STL lights. The key to syncing the lights together is first having all the lights on the pattern you want before connect the white sync wires. Secondly you have to have all the lights on the same sync. You cannot put 2 on regular sync and 2 on alternative sync with blue wire. You have to alternate sync all the lights together or keep them on regular sync with just the white wires. Also i had to take and put two white wires together on two lights and two ehite wire together on the other set of lights then take a single wire and connect those two groups together to get all the lights synced together. Atleast that worked fjr me i have 10 pc Z-3 and 6pc Z-4 on my Toyota Tundra
Have you considered going to a Carson Siren Box or an Able 2 Sho-me Siren Box "Just giving 2 considerations", Former Volunteer Firefighter myself from Kentucky.
I would like to know if you have a led bar is legal looking to put one on my truck
This is the sort of time you fit a semi horn and make them move with that
Great response chief
You need to make a video walk around of your new suburban
so i noticed before you took off you mentioned a number to dispatch, do you run lights on your pov? and do you have to have a permit for the lights and sirens?
