My second son looks eerily like Dave! During 101, after being chased by a crazed fan, he pulls his hair that was wet with rain back & does the exact same sparkly eye look & smile that my son has always done since childhood. In the span of less than 3 seconds, I screamed, turned the TV off, & threw the remote across the room because I was so shocked! After watching 101, I found a pic of Dave from that era & posted it on FB freaking out about how much they look alike. My friends who know my son in real life asked if I was sure that I hadn't slept with Dave when I saw DM live. My son was born in ‘96, so no, I hadn't slept with Dave. VERY well said, my friend...& of my 3 lifelong favourite bands, New Order, Pet Shop Boys & DM (excluding Kraftwerk, because they began making music before I was even born & they're not exactly my idea of a contemporary 'band' anyway - although even PSB are pushing it in that sense as well - mind you, DM have now essentially become very similar to PSB in that sense, with just the two of them forming 'the band', although Christian & Pete have become almost permanent musicians within the bans & they certainly do FAR more than Andy every did anyway! IMO, Andy does one less thing now than he did when he was alive - ie take money from the band...although some would say that he also acted as Martin's confidant & his additional vote within the band, when Alan was still there & not coincidentally, when they were at their very best re: their musical output), the latter of the three acts are the only ones still making truly solid music this century, although for me, as I previously indicated, they will NEVER be anywhere near what they were when Alan was there, especially during their 'Violator' & 'Songs of Faith & Devotion' era, which was most likely when Alan had the greatest input...et voila!! PS. Apologies for the unintended & rather excessive verbosity of this post but it was the part within parentheses that formed the massive majority of it, I'm afraid!!

Having been born in 1971, and being a young teenager when DM was becoming famous, my looks were always compared to Dave Gahan. At one point, when I was 17 or 18, they happened to be in town (Detroit) visiting with Derrickk May, from The Music Institute - the originator of “Techno/House/Electronic Dance Music”. This was around the time they began production on Violator. Anyway, Derrick took DM to a club called The Majestic, which was the Majestic Theatre, where I and many of my friends worked. That night, my best friend at the time, who was basically blind without his glass, went up to Dave Gahan, and started talking to him, thinking that it was me, until Dave said in in English accent “I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else.”; that’s how much Dave and I looked alike at that time.
