Very good video. Thanks for doing this, you saved me a lot of time reading through some very poorly translated instruction. Just a suggestion for a video this long, but you may want to add a table of contents so we can skip to the function we most want to program in. For Example DUAL WATCH 6:40 SQUELCH 7:27
This was a very helpful video. I now see that some of the problems I had were because I was in the wrong mode. Also, you can stop the scanning by briefly pressing the PTT key.
How to stop the Scan mode - use PTT Short answer: The PTT button on the side is also an "escape" button. When scanning through frequencies or memories, there seems to be no way to stop the scan mode. The manual is silent on this detail. Here's the secret: Use the PTT button to escape from scanning modes (halt the scan). Don't worry. The transmitter does not transmit when the PTT is enabled as the escape button for scan modes. They designed it this way, but forgot to mention it in the instruction manual. You can confirm this by placing the radio into scan mode and then press and hold the PTT button and you'll see that it is not transmitting. The next time you press the PTT it will transmit. So be careful with double-pressing...
Hello. Great video! :) Just a quick question - can this unit TX on the UHF3 band (470MHz-520MHz)? The specs that I am reading says that it can only RX. I am hoping you may have the answer. I appreciate your time in advance.
Starting at 17:30, you walk through how to program in a channel number for a frequency. I'm able to type in the frequency I want, but when I click F and then MR/VFO, it just does a double beep and goes out of function mode. It doesn't bring up the SAV option on my screen. It's like that function is locked. What may I be doing wrong?
I'm not sure whether it is you doing smth wrong or the radio. Here is a flow I will use: 1) First make sure small arrow is pointing to the upper row (MAIN) 2) Then make sure you are in Frequency mode instead of Channel mode (MR/VFO) 3) Then save current frequency in a channel: F+MR/VFO => (asks to save) => UP/DOWN(to select channel) => MR/VFO => MR/VFO
My problem was I was trying to program and save the sub/bottom channel on the radio. Once I inverted them and saved it in the main/top channel, it worked fine. Thanks for your help.
I'm considering buying a couple Baofengs as well. There are a lot of options though. Any suggestions on what is a good price vs. capability option? Since most of these will be for some others in my party, I'm considering the 888s. Don't want to buy a piece of crap though.
888s radios are good choice: easy to operate and work well for short-range communication (car-to-car when driving together, paintball, neighbors). But: - they are UHF only (not as good for forest as VHF), - you will need to program them from PC, - you may want a larger battery. Expected distance: 3-4 miles in a field (line of sight), 1-2 miles in a small town, less than a mile in a forest. Other Baofengs are basically the same 888s + screen/buttons + VHF.
Good to know. I don't mind programming from computer. But want VHF. I use these in my race car and also have a group of guys who beat around in the woods that would use these. Any suggestions on which baofang has VHF capabilities for a good price?
Good for the purpose. Hope the new radio will meet your current needs. I did not make specific UV-5R video, since plenty of information about this radio is already available. In my videos you can find it only in tests: Distance test: ruclips.net/video/H8EgM-U0cEU/видео.html Receiver comparison: ruclips.net/video/E7nWuvon6bU/видео.html
Hey! So I have followed your guide. But I have a problem. I can transmit audio to another (baofeng) and they will receive. But if they transmit I can see on the display that there is something happening. But the noise will be gone and you hear nothing. Tried squelch and scrambling but I have no idea.. Can you help?
Hi! TG-UV2 can only receive at 470-519 MHz. It cannot transmit at this range. You can try unlocking F4 frequency band, but stable work is not guaranteed.
Самый чёткий видеоролик по данной рации. Спасибо!
Very Good Video! Much easier to follow than the manual.

Yes, that's a good idea. I will consider adding contents. Thank you for positive comment.

Thanks. Yes, that way to stop the scanning wasn't obvious for me at that time.
Thanks you so much for very helpful video!
Very Good Video. Very helpful. Much better than the manual. Thanks for all the help. AD4JH

You are right. Thanks for the comment.
Hi again, did you know you can exit the scanning by tapping the PTT button instead of turning the radio off? ;)
Yes, I discovered it only after I completed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Amazing
Nice video my friend, ive learnd alot now :) i hate reading poor manuals
Really glad the video helped you
do you know where you can buy the scramble board? to solder in
@@kvmods no, I've never seen it on sale
Hello.
Great video! :)

Hello!
Thanks for positive feedback.
The 470-519 MHz band is receive only on this radio.
I have a couple of Quansheng TG-45AT radios, how do I change language from Chinese, to English?
Do you have any experience with Wouxun, Model UV3D? A friend bought these and I'd like to program ours together.
Hi. I do not have experience with UV3D.
İs it possible to open TX this radio to Russian River frequency 300-336 MHz? Or only >360 MHz is possible ?

Very Good Video. Very helpful.
I have one question>
Is it possible to Change the Time Display Light?
Thank you

I would suggest BF-UVB2 or UV-5R. But they cost more. You can find them at ~ $30 at aliexpress or ebay
I ended up getting the UV-5R. Thanks. Do you have any training videos on that?
Good for the purpose. Hope the new radio will meet your current needs.

Hi! Make sure no CTSS/DCS codes are enabled for receive.
@@R2DMD Yes I eventually figured it out, apparently I didnt setup the receive 6.25 something khz in the menu
Hi how to set 470.625 and use? I have "DIS" on screen and long "beep" sound ??
Thanks for that video is very usefull:)

R2DMD ok thanks, i have "plus" version in 4000mah battery and 10w power but like l see that menu is the same like in older model.
Hi there, would you also make a manual for TGUV2 Plus, please? Thanks a lot
Hi! I do not have this radio at the moment. If I manage to get my hands on it, I will do.
to stop scanning push ptt button
Thanks.
