That was the best most straight forward video I have seen about this sensor light. If only all videos were made this way. You showed the part. What could be wrong with it. Where to find the part if you choose to change it. And the pros and cons of d.i.y. versus going to the dealer. And how to disengage the system. I don't usually like and comment or subscribe, but you earned all three. I know my opinion doesn't mean much but I forwarded this video to my wife and she disabled the system herself and made the comment of how good the video was. You helped me help my wife. Happy Wife, Happy Life. Thanks Man.
I just left the dealership and this light came on I panicked so bad thank you for explaining!
Did a better job at explaining this than my auto shop! Thank you!!
I think if they install these safety sensor they should be warranty at no cost to the owner as long as you own the car. with out buying an extended warranty.
Thank you sir!!!! The last one worked for me all I needs to do was turn on the assist on and now my cruise control works. Thank you
you mean turn the assist off?
I have a Nissan Kicks 2019 and was excited with all the mobility features it had at first. But after a while... it has been concerning and alarming with AEB becoming disabled whenever there's any obstruction on the surrounding of the sensor. Yes, it's a great feature, it's great for emergency alerts... but during winter season and there's excessive amount of snow.. slushy or even heavy rain the light constantly comes on. It gives me few minutes until the car will slowly die down and then just stopped. I always have to pull over and wash the area with water. This feature is frustrating and I always panic when notification comes on even for minor obstruction because I know the car will stop. This is actually unsafe specially when you're on the highway.
Nissan Canada suggested to have it checked at any dealership. I brought it to a dealership, waited 2 hrs 45 mins for them to do just the diagnostic test. They couldn't find an issue but instead suggested to bring it back for further observation when the weather is in bad condition. I paid for the diagnostic test and this was the result. The model of my car doesn't have the off feature. How I wish it did.. or at least I wish I didn't have this feature at all.
Any suggestions?
great video been looking for 3 days for an explanation and finally, I found ur video.
My 2021 Altima does this, but it is always when I am driving into the sun, or when the vehicle in front of me has extremely bright tail lights. The forward emergency braking has actually almost CAUSED me to wreck by engaging when it didn't need to engage and when I wasn't expecting it to engage.
Same thing with my 2020 Sentra did you fix it my cars out of warranty
@@abbas674 no. I just turn it off when I know I'm going to be driving as the sun it rising or setting in front of me. And keep it set as the closest distance before it alerts/brakes for me. The auto braking thing really should have the option to turn it completely off. I guess Nissan doesn't realize some of us were actually taught to be aware of what's going on around us - especially when driving!
These systems use radar, meaning they don't care about light and sun light should have no effect on them.
Currently having the same issue
So glad I bought a my nissan sentra without this feature. Less to worry about long term.
More equipment in car's for more money when it malfunctions, another skim they got going.
I totally agree
What a great video bro. Sweet and short and to the point.
What fuse box should I check
Great information, and very informative. Many thanks 👍
My 2018 sentra doing same thing. No breaking issue, but out of the blue it would "beep" with a malfunction and and warning lights. Sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes every other day. Bought it with 26,000 miles in it, took it to Nissan two different times and because it wasn't happening at the appointment scheduled time, they said there was nothing they could do. Even though I had pictures.
Nice video. Mine doesn't seem to like foggy days.
my 2020 altima came on for the first time last night and it was foggy. when the light came on it was flashing.
This light keeps coming on the dealership stated that its because of direct sunlight although it came on with no direct sunlight the dealership changed out the stop lamp switch 3 times replaced it with a high mount stop lamp and it's still doing it
I have 2018 altima and have that issue. Every time i make a loop turn it turns on and saying that im gonna crash and they it says unavailable.
How to remove it, this crazy car stopped on me while I was driving and no close car was near by ,it was scary! Now I’m afraid to drive on the highway
My wife just got the battery changed on her '21 qx80 by some green haired lady at Walmart. Apparently she forgot to tighten the terminals down on the new battery. It must've blown the fuse and caused this to come on. I'm 400 miles away. Perfect timing.
Great video thank you!
I deep cleaned my car from the inside. My rag was semi wet and I cleaned that area where you press the brake..it stated blinking after that
I have a 2019 sentra,no issues with brakes, but sometimes the light will come on and stay on for any amount of time
Where is the ABS light fuse at though?????
Great video 👍🏻
Do you guys know why the radiator sensor pops in a 2021 sentra
How about if the light is flashing all the time? What does that indicate? I tried replacing the sensor (with a brand new sensor with the exact same part number), but then the error goes from a flashing forward collision warning light to a "malfunction" warning shown on the dash. I tried scanning for codes with my scan tool, but no codes are visible. No apparent wiring damage. The vehicle was in a previous accident, but the FCW system was working when I got it. Every once in awhile the malfunction light would light, but it would reset itself when the vehicle was shut off and sometimes not come back on for multiple trips/days. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Did you ever figure it out it’s happening to me too
@@vinnynaga4842 I gave up trying to fix it as I read about so many people spending tons of money replacing parts and having the sensors calibrated and aligned. Maybe I will take another look when the weather gets warmer. Good luck.
@@timj3664 My car is out of warranty
@@turbotato I have a 16 maxima platinum and the sensor did have to be aligned/calibrated, however now I have a issue with my front emergency brake not working so now my whole cruise control doesn’t even work
It could be the control unit itself not the sensor
Where is located and what is the name of the Aeb fuse ? Where can I check if it is Blown?
It's in you owner's manual.
My Nissan radar goes on and off sometimes and not bad weather obstructing in front of the radar. Something when you go on a bump etc..
Great needed this
yeah i'm disabling this. have driven over 15 years without any fancy braking system, i'll manage...
Still drives well with out it? Because I’m thinking of doing the same.
Changed sensor still which fuse witch fuse would it be
Would a body repair cause an issue? - They pulled the front bumper and they had to calibrate the cameras.
I have a Rogue 2021 and this issue sometimes shows that malfunction and sometimes it works just fine, any idea?
Does it cause the check engine light to come on too?
my EBS light came on yesterday after driving about 1/4 mile and stayed on while driving. If I turn off the car and turn it back on it's not on but will come back on within a couple minutes. that makes me think it's not a blown fuse. Also, is it dangerous to drive without fixing this issue?
Where is the actual fuse???? I have a 2017 platinum Murano and I can’t find the information anywhere. It’s literally unbelievable.
Not sure why this is happening, my car is 2024 Brand new…
Mine is also 2024 but it says OFF under the symbol
Edit: I checked the manual and it was due to the blizzard. The sensors are turned off because they cant detect properly in bad weather. The car is fine :)
Smh my 2023.armada with 4,000 miles on it, abs light came on tonight slip controls, forward and rear collision light on Saying malfunction. I had to shut the vehicle off and so far it didn't came on back
Most likely its off if you go in the Settings you can turn it on and off
Mines is too , brand new & that symbol keeps showing up
Mine is 2024 too band new and done 3k these sign came blinking for a second and then I stop while for a while and it’s gone again..what’s the reason??
Mine is on and out of nowhere will say “malfunction”
My 2022 Pathfinder just started doing this a few days ago. It goes on and off.

Anyone know what to do, went over big bump, stayed on, switched engine off, now this light just comes on for 10 seconds after switching ignition on? Goes off after. Never used to. Worrying.
I replaced my break switch ligth on my nissan sentra 2019 the other day was I supposed to replaced the other sensor that was next to it? Because the next day my dashboard came up saying malfunction on it.
Hi I have a 2020 versa and I Wana know how to disconnect this sensor
Hello, i have a nissan altima 2021, it happens twice while driving not when i start the engine. Let say it happens rarely. what it seems to be problem? Dose it need to replace the radar or just calibrated?
Same thing happen to my Altima 2020. It happens while driving and when the signal come on , the car will stop after 10 seconds. Then doesn't move. I had to turn it off. The car is back to normal after about 1 hour. Then the problem comes again all of sudden. So how did you fix the issue of "malfunction" ?
@@salajmi i did not do anything, it fixed automatically. But keep the nissan badge always clean. As I read many reports of this case, there are two cases, 1- if the error comes immediately while starting the engine it needs to replace the radar.
2- if the error comes while driving the car goes around 50 km/h, no need to be worried it just needs to calibrate the radar or clean the nissan badge.
@@Wasta91 Thank you for your reply . Yes, I get the "Malfunction"error while driving about 15 km/hr or less , then the car doesn't move. If turned off doesn't turn on again. After waiting about 1 hour it would turn on and drive normally .The problem will come again after 2-3 days and it would happen suddenly.
Which radar needs to be calibrated ? Does cleaning the badge has to do anything with the "Malfunction" error?
2014 Infiniti QX 60 even disable it still gives me an error message on the dash.
Calibrated with a scan Tool
Thx
Itd gotta be radar sensor is broken or bad connection
What if this light is going off after my car auto braked
Just had a minor accident with my 2018 Nissan kicks that I have had for two months because of this feature how.I was at the traffic lights with no car in front of me it malfunctioned and backed into the car behind me😢
I already had this fixed within a year of owning my 2019 rogue awd tech. After 2 years and of course at 60 000 kms it will cost 3000$ to fix
Any suggestion
Can this make your car not to start?
Done some of these things. But it sets off my engine light also and p2004 code. So what is that?.
Also 2016 rogue. This has been an issue for about a year and half now and I have taken car to 6 mechanics now and each say different things, and dealership say its a humidity issue. Nissan won't help at all.
I changed my windshield and then after that sign is appear
I was on the highway and a peice of tire in road flew u der my car and then this light came on and won't turn off now, my question is, is it still safe to drive my car
Of course, it’s safe to drive your car. This just means that your automatic braking system, the breaking feature that the car offers when you are about to hit a car in front of your or any other object, is not working properly and it has shut down. This is happened to my car right now, just be extra careful because you don’t have that safety protocol measure in line. The only thing that will stop you from bumping into something in front of you will be manually pressing the break. as far as it safe to drive, there are plenty of cars, especially older cars that don’t have an ABS system. If the lights on means that the front sensor is the one that is not working, so you should be OK with the rest of your sensors around the car as far as when you’re about to hit something and it beeps. Just be careful.
I accidentally hit something and it turned on, when I turn it off it won’t brake for me right?
On my 21 Altima I can turn it off, but I have to do it every single time I start the car. It's a huge pain. We stayed at a hotel for 3 months after some storm damage & the best way to park was to back into the space. This stupid car kept slamming the brakes on because there was a hedgerow that I was backing toward. The place I parked was next to the pool area. The car made such a loud, horrible noise that it was quite embarrassing.
It really should have the option to turn it off and have it stay off until you decide to turn it back on
The dealership told me it's 1500 to replace it!!!
My system disables whenever there is bad weather. Anyone else?
I get 23 qashqai two weeks.start at night high way front of me car was too far start flashing its annoying and dangerous dangerous could slam on brake scary
Can someone translate the video for me, it's in English, I speak Spanish, I just need to translate it please.
I just bought a 2023 Altima amount 2 weeks ago and it just started doing this 😒
Did u get it fixed? Or you disabled it?
Take it back to the dealership, this is unacceptable
I just got a 2023 Sentra and mine came on in the morning for only a few minutes 😥 I'm just going to wait a couple days and see if it does it again, I wish you luck👍
@thebaddestradish9678 It's called the front radar obstruction, and it's a complete piece of trash. Nissan did too much with this part. They connected it to the cruise control, so once the sensor goes out, none of that work. I've been dealing with this for month. The Nissan service department replace the sensor for 2k..and it still doesn't work.
New cars are junk
I completely agree with you, very expensive but garbage, better keep the old cars running.
I just left work and mine was blinking all the way home before it finally stopped. My car was covered in frost though, is it possible that was triggering the sensor?
