연주 보는 내내 제가 불안하고 안절부절 못하겠네요~피아니스트의 연주에 조화를 이루지 못하는 오케스트라~ 웬지 냉랭한 표정의 단원들~ 꿋꿋하게 끝까지 최선을 다한 조성진에게 박수 보냅니다~
청중은 부채질을 하고 오케스트라 단원들은 민소매를 입을 정도로 더운 공연장에서 재킷을 갖춰입고 연주하는 고등학생 연주자는 이미 프로였습니다,, 그의 열정이 무색하게도 맥 빠지는 오케스트라 소리와 더 의욕 없어보이는 지휘자,, 콩쿨이어서 심적으로 부담이 많으셨을텐데, 이렇게나마 정말 고생 많으셨다고 박수 보내드리고 싶습니다 🥲

저 나이 때도 오케스트라 솔로 부분이 아릅답게 돋보이도록 피아노가 철저히 배경음이 되도록 연주하다니… 진짜 이런 곡해석 너무너무 좋다… 이분의 연주를 들을 수 밖에 앖는 이유 중 하나
마지막 리허설보면 가슴아파 눈물나온다
오케가 어쩜 긴장감1도 없이 손만 움직이고 있는지ㅠ외로이 피아노 치고 있는 17살 성진의 모습이 너무 가슴아픔ㅠ
외로움과 아픔을 모두 이겨내고 쇼팽콩쿨에서 1등한 성진 너무나 자랑스럽고 대견하다

오케스트라가 괜히 방해한느낌 엄청 견제당했나보다
이미 다닐이 우승인 분위기에..
어린 동양인 연주자 별로 신경 안썼겠죠...그래도 3등준건 대단히 인정해준거라 봅니다.
저 오케때문에 협연 트라우마로 한동안 협연을 안했을 정도 였다고 합니다.

Look at SKEPTICAL expressions of the FACE of the pianist even at the beginning of 2 movement (21:23, 21:31).
Cho NOTICED enough, that the Russian conductor and the Russian orchestra made UNFAIR job.
What other people think about the competition, is for me equal. For me Cho is the FIRST WINNER in MY HEART.
I come from Japan. Now Cho is my favorite young pianist.
His pianism is not only talented, but also very reasonable.
Cho is the authentic successor of great tradition of classic music.
He must've been pissed off by their mistakes,of course. So cute!☺He was great and flawless here but many korean fans agreed that 3rd prize was reasonable for him at that age. By the way, Cho is a truly blessed young artist,I think, having such good fans like you. ☺

This young man is the real deal. Truly one of the very top handful of musicians today. Have you heard his Liszt Sonata performance from Helsinki? Unreal. He has grown into an even greater artist.
He was already amazing pianist representing the 21st century. His sound of piano is a fantastic.
쇼팽은 가면갈수록 더 좋아지지만 차이코프스키는 이때 해석이 굉장히 신선하고 잊혀지지 않네요 차이코프스키 굉장히 많이 들어봤다고 생각했는데 또다른 면모를 느끼게 해줍니다
이때 손열음 조성진중1.2위 할수도 있다는 보도 나왔었는데 막판에 자국 러시아 출신으로 1위 유도하는것 같다는 말도 있었는데 진짜 공정한 심사였나 의심 스럽네요 지성과겸손을 겸비한 천재 성진님 항상 응원해요~~

He is absolute the FIRST pianist to EVER play the final octave passage as Tschaikovsky wrote it, THE PASSAGE ENDS IN TRIPLETS, not 16ths.

Could you elaborate? Was also not aware of this difference when others perform this piece.
Try to listen to any version of this piece, they most probably have a different rhytm at the final octaves, which is not the original one of Tchaikovsky's composition. In fact many pianists sacrifice the sound of this masterpiece with the purpose of amazing the audeince with very fast tempos. In this performance Cho played it exactly as it was originally written, showing a deep philological interest that is not very common in young pianists
Actually, no he's not. In, I believe 1941 Horowitz had a live recording to rise money for the US war effort. I had the 78's. He plays the triplets, but he's done with all but the last 10 notes he played as triplets gloving him enough time to really delineate those triplets to a greater degree. No one played octaves like Horowitz, not even the great master/composer.

@@rjkim5000 I believe that getting a 3rd place at Chopin competition(1 year prior to Tchaikovsky 2011) and playing tons of recitals every year is not the definition of nameless. Up to you, though.

콘서트장 더워보이는데 정장 갖춰입고 연주하느라 고생하셨어요. 저 나이에 저런 연주를 할 수 있다는게 보고도 믿기지 않아요. 아직 클래식 음악을 많이 듣지는 못했지만, 정말 귀한 음악을 들려주시고 계신다는것은 세상걸고 확신할 수 있어요!!!! 오빠의 연주는 마치 음악으로 마음속에 곡을 그리는것 같아요 수채화같이 부드럽게...피아니스트가 아니였더라도 저 마음을 움직이게하는 재능은 꼭 누군가의 눈에 띌 수 밖에 없을거에요. 앞으로도 더 나은 예술가가되어 사람들의 감정을 따뜻하게 품어주세요 ♥

심지어 더울때 인거 아니에요? 사람들도 반팔들 입고 부채까지 부치는 사람도 있는데 혼자 덥게 두겹으로 입고서 안에 또 입었을 수도 있고... 집중하고 움직이느라 열 많이 났을텐데 오케스트라도 협조를 잘안해주기까지 ㅠㅠ 힘겨운 시간을 조성진군이 집중력 있게 잘 이끌고 멋진 연주로 마무리 하고 참 대단하고 멋지며 훌륭합니다

19:41 That late entry by the conductor was unforgivable. I believe that was a deliberate sabotage to keep Cho from winning a prize, not that Trifonov was in any danger of losing first, but we all know the dirty politics that goes on in these competitions.
+J. J. Townley Trifonov played this same concerto, but you can hear his obvious mistakes on his performance. Cho played flawlessly despite the orchestra's error. If Cho were Russian, I'd not be surprised to see Cho winning the top prize along with Trifonov.

Similarly, russians stole Yuna kim's gold medal in sochi 2014, giving it to unpopular russian skater-adelina sotnikova-who was caught having taken banned substance(or illegal drug) in competition. Totally agree that dirty politics goes on possibly every competition-sports, arts, everything. Russia is the country even making players who compete in paralympic games to commit doping shamelessly. Shame on russia's dirty national character.

I absolutely agree. Even the great maestro Gianandrea Noseda said in the Barbican Centre interview on 03/28/19, "He is one of the greatest today even though he is young. . ."

That's exactly what I am looking for from him.
Pure artistic virtuosity, not by the home ground market size etc, would make him
as good as Kissin , Zimmerman, Ashkenazy.
He is one of the "intelligent" pianists who use their intellects and minds rather than just finger muscles and flashy showmanship. Very rare especially amongst pianists from Asia. He is in a different league than some of the pianists who rode out their fame with a circus.

Boy someone certainly dropped the ball there for that poor kid (near 20). He looked up at the conductor in absolute disbelief. Did he include an extra note or two the conductor wasn't expecting? Or was this a deliberate 'finger' from the very disinterested looking orchestra, unimpressed by his lengthy but wonderful cadenza? This was an excellent performance throughout, and especially by such a young person. Having heard dozens of interpretations of the work, this resounded very well indeed. Thank you Seong-Jin. cathy

20:21 Orchestra's Error, not Seong Jin Cho's Error!!!
Nope. I know exactly what happened. Most common thing in the world. A soloist picks up the tempo (Cho got faster) and half the orchestra rightly uses their EARS to follow the pianist, the other half lags behind waiting for the conductor's beat, which was at the former tempo. However, the conductor should have gone with Cho's slightly faster tempo. Ultimately it was Cho's "fault" for rushing. But it is the soloist's choice whether or not to go a little faster at these exciting codas. The conductor should have been a "good accompanist" and followed him.

That is awful. So the flutes never came in. Wow. How is that possible? And I'm amazed how they show the flutes immediately after, and they look as if nothing happened. Such incompetence. Maybe they did it on purpose. Or not. Maybe the conductor didn't bring them in on purpose.

It's one thing to play with technical brilliance which Cho can do but to play from the soul moves the listener to a place of tranquility!

라라파파미미레 이 부분 더 쌈팍하게 쳤어야 된다.
차이코프스키 콩쿨에 차이코프스키 협주곡인데 오케실력이 형편없네요ㅋㅋㅋ 각 파트주자들 긴장감도 잘 알지만 지휘자나 플룻이나...그리고 왠지 느낌이 급조된 오케같은 느낌ㅜㅜ 오케 끌고 가느라 고생하는 성진군이네요!
그리고 예전 연주와 지금 연주들의 차이점이 개인적 생각으로는
10대때는 막힘없이 열정으로 연주했다면 지금은 굉장히 고민하고 조심스럽고 다양한 시도를 하는것 같아요 그리고 스케줄이 거의 살인적이던데ㅜㅜ
