I agree with almost everything you said! Jackie’s acting kind of felt like Bella’s acting in Twilight. Like she’s definitely not a bad actress, but it kind of takes you out of the romance scenes when you can tell that she’s not as into it as Cole is. Like I want to feel like she’s literally fighting with herself of what is right (staying loyal to Alex) and what she actually wants (Cole.) I do understand. But instead it lowkey feels like she’s just there, while Alex is super obsessed and cute, and Cole is obviously super attracted to her
Your Alex breakdown was SPOT ON! I came into the show really wanting to like him and like him with Jackie (I tend to prefer that character/ship in a love triangle) but his dynamic with Cole made him insufferable to me and the way he acted around Jackie felt like she was some kind of prize he won over Cole which I absolutely despised.
I agree with this but overall I still think Alexs behavior was better than Cole's, Alex was definitely better before their relationship but he was always sweet to her , and he genuinely liked her , but the love bombing , jealously and insecurity was toxic. Overall still with time and therapy I think Alex would be the better choice , cause Alex wouldn't cheat or say that he wished Jackie never came like sorry but Cole lost me completely after that like her whole family died
I love Danny so much. That's all. Also I'm so tired of these "love triangles" where they make it obvious from day 1 who the main girl is ending up with. Like we should I get invested in this when I there's no real competition??? Alex and Jackie were cute at the beginning, Cole and Jackie are cute sometimes but the way Cole treated women up until ep 9 rubs me the wrong way and it pisses me off that they kissed at the end despite Jackie DATING ALEX and Cole saying the entire season "I would never intentionally hurt my brother". Ahggggg it makes me so mad. Like I can't get into either of the ships because of this & how blantantly obvious it is. Anyways I will be watching season 2 if there is one.
Haha, same here! I can't stand predictable tropes and stereotypes in shows and I loved Alex, so it annoyed me because I knew it was never going to last. They gave me so many cute moments of them, just to let her throw him away for rude ''so misunderstood'' bad boy Cole which was the only ending we were ever going to get, because the girl just has to always pick the bad boy over the nice guy. Shows need to break away from these same storylines. And if they are never planning for Jackie to end up with Alex, don't let her choose him and then choose the guy she really wants. Don't do that to me, it's not fair for someone who ships Alex with Jackie and likes his character so much! Those poor unoriginal writing choices get on my nerves so much I rewrite shows, taking out the parts that were predictable and unrealistic because the decisions for the characters were simply uncharacteristic for them.
two episodes made me cry cause yes, the show is a little corny and very much teenager form, BUT, there's also some pretty real stuff, and it was nice to watch
Im usually not for the bad boys winning the girl but Alex truly seems like a hidden narcisist trying to pose as the "good" guy, where as Cole is honest, that means his bad and good traits are all honest. MEANING all the times he expresses love and care it's geniunie. Hope he gets better, having something you lived for stripped away from you is not easy. I can relate as an ex-ballerina.
Y’all kill me with these assumptions of Alex character. It’s never what he did to Jackie or what he actually did to Cole or what happened in the show. I purely based on how you feel smh y’all aren’t being realistic
@@lakeshow-vq1rm what are u talking about. if u actually try to understand the show, its pretty clear alex acts victimized and is jealous and obsessing over cole. where as cole is his own person, sure he can be a jerk or whatever but hes honest and open.
@@zainabismail2779 well I’m a guy and I can honestly tell you that I would never do my brother the way that Cole did Alex. Maybe because you’re a girl and you see nothing wrong with two brothers fighting over a girl but that’s not realistic and it’s disgusting. I think if it was your sister boyfriend you wouldn’t go behind her back and kiss her boyfriend would you. So I have no respect for Cole and absolutely no respect for Jackie
Alex is not exactly the good guy ... infact i think he's wrong most of the time....like he was practically showing off jackie to cole...idk if anyone noticed but whenever cole came he got all so touchy and even when cole told him the he didn't know about paige n him and all ....he still had a kind of grudge against him And yeah alex had that feeling bcoz he felt like he was living in his shadow but as cole said he felt that too but he was not being a jackass and trying to make alex jealous bcoz of it.
I also agree with Alex being obsessed with Cole. I’m team Jeremiah, so I’m not always on the “bad boy” team, but omg Alex really made me this time. First of all, in like episode 2 or 3, Kylie says “not again” when she sees him staring at Jackie, and then Alex gets kind of annoyed. Like… you don’t even know her fr to even be liking her that much. Then, it was like, he would blame Cole for EVERYTHING, when 1) Cole is not the problem in every situation and 2) Cole didn’t even know him and Paige were together. It’s obvious Alex has resentment towards him for reasons beyond Cole’s control. Alex just came off as very whiny and I just couldn’t deal with that
now i'm team cole, just bc i thought alex was kind of clingy and too attached too early, but Cole is NO CONRAD. Conrad isn't "brooding" or a bad boy or a player, he's simply grieving. Cole is just kind of sad and taking it out on everyone around him, and his character is very surface level, but so is alex & jackie & literally every other character
YESS, those were my thoughts, like clearly everyone is gonna compare Cole to Conrad but if we wanna be real Conrad's attitude in s1 & 2 of tsitp stem from a place of grieving, we know from the flashbacks, everyones comments, and that brief period when him and belly dated b4 susannah was too sick that his attitude and withdrawnness is NOT his real self, when for Cole as Jackie has only known him in the now that is all frame of reference she has and it also doesn't help that basically no one talks about how he was before jus about how awful he is now, I do gotta say even though his brothers cover for him and his shenanigans none of them or his parents seem to be trying to understand his reasoning for doing these things now nor trying to help him through it
this!!! the conrad comparisons have pissed me off because yes conrad hurt people, but he was holding so much stressful and upsetting information inside. the story makes it clear that he was never this rude and emotionally detached before, whereas it seems like cole has always been an asshole. also the way cole treats erin is COMPLETELY inexcusable, regardless of him being upset.
Yess ...but conrad was being more of an asshole about his situation than cole i think... He was practically taking out on others whenever someone tried to console him or understand him, even belly.. But cole wasn't really being a jackass about his situation and taking out on others MOST OF THE TIME , he talked to jackie and everyone around him just fine....ya he got drunk n that shit but other thank that he never avoided anyone..infact he wanted to talk to jackie he wanted to be with her and unlike Conrad he showed his feelings for her quite clearly from the beginning
So glad you made a video on this! It’s so bad, but I couldn’t stop watching 💀 Also, as an epileptic, I LOVED Nathan! I got diagnosed in middle school, so seeing another teen with epilepsy going through the same emotions and struggles with family/friends being overprotective felt somewhat relatable.
Alex is easily the better choice and it's not even close. He's sweet, respectful, reliable, kind, just the perfect boyfriend. Is he a little obsessed with Cole? Sure, but I mean, the first girl he's ever been in love with cheated on him with Cole. He spends his whole life watching girls like Grace drool over Cole with that "Cole effect" nonsense. He watches his brother be a dick to everyone and still be the popular guy every girl falls for. It has to be annoying. But he's always been the perfect gentleman with Jackie. Also, Jackie and Cole cheating at the end proved that Alex was right to not trust Cole all along, right? Btw abut the love triangle trope in teen dramas, Never Have I Ever was a show that did it right. The girl didn't end up with the popular jock with the slo-mo entrance, but with the awkward nerdy dude who showed up for her every time it mattered. I wish more shows did that.
I swear NHIE had the most cliché jock/popular guy entrance, going as far as giving Paxton his own theme tune but still, the right choice, the only choice, was Ben, and Devi and the creators knew it. Like, I hate how, especially in YA movies, they'll introduce a 2nd LI in the 2nd movie after main girl and main boy broke up, who's almost perfect in every way but still, main girl will go back to her dusty, crusty, musty boyfriend/love of her life turned ex. Please just let homegirl end up with the right dude. Case and point, the Kissing Booth, to All the Boys, the Sumler I Turned Pretty, and soooo many more
I literally said the same exact in a comment I’m another post. I loved NHIE because one Paxton wasn’t a jerk and though devi and him was together they ended up just being friends and they didn’t rush her and Ben back together. I think we should a Cole and Jackie relationship to give the viewers what they want but because this is a series the writers know that Jackie and Cole doesn’t have to be end game because this is a teen romance and it’s not like anyone getting married. This reviewer was spot on about the love triangle being to trashy and disgusting when you have a girl messing around with brothers. Cole looks 10 years older than Jackie also was disturbing. But it’s making the lead character look like trash. I literally can’t stand Jackie at this point. And I really despise Cole. Alex is the only respectable character coming out of season 1 so I hope that’s for good reason that the writers of the show will take this in a different direction than the book. I’m sure we will get a Jackie and Cole relationship at some point next season but man it’s gonna be messy. Alex is gonna feel betrayed as he should and resent his brother even more than he did before. So I just don’t see how there gonna make a Jackie/Cole relationship comfortable and acceptable without outside interference. And teen romance doesn’t last long either so there could multiple relationships developed. Like Jackie being with someone else other than Cole or Alex.
@@lakeshow-vq1rm Alex will go to training camp, find his passion, suffer some injuries and humiliations and finally grow up. They'll give Kylie a make over so he wouldn't feel tempted to call her a dude ever again.
@@susivarga7303 I literally said this yesterday that Kylie comes back way hotter next season and gets Alex attention off of Jackie and Cole. Give Jackie and Cole there season now and save Jackie and Alex for later seasons. Alex and Jackie are Taylor made for each other but I wouldn’t be mad if Alex and Kylie stay together. But i do think a Jackie and Cole relationship will be toxic no matter how they try to spin it. They made it wayyyyy too messy to work. And Cole is way too dramatic and so is Jackie. Someone’s gonna get there heart broken
Let me guess! She gonna act like she don't like Cole but at the last minute she realized "oh he really does have a heart" & then gets w him. If she ends up w Alex I'll truly be surprised they know who they want the main character w in the first episode. Let me guess it's gonna be a slow motion shot when walks to her or something
And there is another that was written the same fact way as this one but it came out 2 hrs ago so it sucks on originality. TSITP bootleg version and it’s low budget
Something if found so stupid is how the show was showing a guy that couldn't play football in his school team anymore but not the trauma of a girl that just lost her entire family, i mean cole was being soooooo dramatic and i hate when people compqre him with conrad becaude conrad was losing his mom this guy couldn't play a sport, if he was taht good he would have been asked for scholarships in actual teams before but he was judt playing in his school team....
i totally disagree with u on this one, mainly because, cole was only a sophomore, so nothing could be done as his grades were dropping. during the show, u can tell how he's upset as he is worrying about his future and doesnt know what to do as football was the only thing taht could help him. so no, cole was not being dramatic, he was trying to figure out what to do with his life. also, yes conrad and cole are 2 different ppl so the comparisons are quite stupid imo. conrad was grieving because of his mother but cole was trying to figure out his future.
@@zainabismail2779 you basically explained him being dramatic. OVER FOOTBALL!! He treated others like crap, he treated Alex like crap, he treated his family like crap, he gets drunk, misses his sister football game, sleeps with half the girls in the school, soaks when he see the football team cheering. Yeah he was being very dramatic
@@lakeshow-vq1rm i genuinely dont think worrying about college and your future is 'dramatic'. ur saying 'OVER FOOTBALL' like its useless but u have to understand it was the only thing he had and since his grades were overall useless. and yes he was a jerk, im not denying that but he got the character development he needed in the end.
@@zainabismail2779by stabbing his brother in the back for the second time? Na he didn’t get better. You’re just being obsessed with the guy. I get it though. He’s the good looking older brother. Yeah he cared so much about family he was willing to betray his brother just to get the girl he wanted smh
To all of that's approving of her cheating What is wrong with you?! I thought you didn't like cheaters?! I guess it gets a pass when the person has a chiseled jaw line huh? They should've called this show Pretty privileged
Just like this girl doing the review. When she was analyzing him she didn’t mention any of his toxic ways. She only mentioned his looks and how obsessed she was over it 😂😂 but she was very critical when analyzing Alex and how he wasn’t the one for her even though Jackie chose him first. When doing character breakdown you have to take all the positives and the negatives of each character. She blamed Olivia for what she did to Erin but never mentioned what Cole did to Erin 😂
personally, im team cole. i feel like alex was too obsessed and clingy and u could tell jackie wasnt too comfortable with all the pda. their overall relationship was kinda unhealthy. now dont get me wrong, i love alex, but he has gotta work on himself and stop obsessing over what cole does. as for cole, yes he can be a jerk but u can tell he has genuine feelings for jackie and would do anything for her. and cole and jackies chemistry is on another level, just the way they look at eachother says it all. something that was pissing me off though, was how alex just kinda blames cole for everything without even listening to him, all out of jealousy. you could tell how cole was changing towards the end though, which was very much needed for his character development. also, i wouldnt say cole and conrad are the same, for obvious reasons but im team jeremiah in tsitp. ik this is all just a show which is mainly directed towards early teenagers, but i had to write this whole paragraph to express what i feel abt this.
She exudes the same energy as my therapist in the sense that I find her very calming and relaxing and just someone I can have a zen, fulfilling time with. The only difference is that I am discussing sth fun and not my trauma which ofc makes it infinitely better. I wish we could be friends.
Two things 1: I prefer her with Alex….now yes, Cole and Jackie have more chemistry especially when getting deep into their issues but Cole isn’t very reliable, he leads Jackie on as well as Erin, he hooks up with multiple girls, and he’s kind of a jerk. With Alex, yes he’s quirky and awkward but I’d rather that than a known player. Alex is way more reliable, he’s smart, he doesn’t lead people on and hook up with random girls, and he actually owns up to his mistakes. I’d rather see the good girl dates “awkward and nerdy kid” instead of the usual bad guy trope. 2: people seem to have a hard time understanding that actors and actresses can have multiple roles in their careers…..everyone’s acting all shocked that Nikki was also on On My Block, well yeah it’s called playing different roles which is the point.
@@cheekschu2152 Alex owned up to that though and was definitely more lenient after he saw how it was effecting his relationship with Jackie and especially after him and Cole communicated their misunderstandings. I mean, Alex did think that Cole hooked up with his girlfriend on purpose but that wasn't the case at all and Cole really did nothing to dissuade Alex's assumptions. Alex was also supportive of Jackie's motives which is one the main reason as to why she kinda ignored her feelings for Cole because he contrasted and distracted her from her main goals. Even though Alex wasn't the only sibling jealous of Cole, I do agree that Alex took it entirely too far sometimes and allowed his inferiority to consume him at the worst times, like at Katherine's award ceremony.
@@awesomeyou6815 so true and these teenage girls are eating it up too. Any flaws in Alex personality was gonna be highlighted to the max. But he’s not the worst guy you’ve ever met. I understand that most of these young girls are just obsessed with Cole based purely on his looks which is fine, but let’s not justify his character like he was a saint or that he was changing for Jackie. She doesn’t even look better than Erin or Paige. Erin said in the beginning that she was just the new face which I’m glad they highlighted in the show. It’s just sad that these young girls can find every little flaw in Alex character but overlook every toxic behavior of Cole and Jackie and will try their best to justify what they did. Truly sad generation we live in.
I hate when i see people overly judging alex but not doing the same with cole like yes Alex has insecurities issues but cole has been depicted as a literally womanizer like yes cole and jackie have more romantic chemistry but like lets be frl overall im just tired of the sweet guy always loosing, like jackie if you don't want alex I'll take him frl 😭🙏
I grew up reading (ie suffering through) these love triangles. Now that I’m an adult, I heal that part of me by reading love triangle turned throuples and no one can stop me. Why have a loser when you can have win-win-win?
SPOILERS!!! As somebody who read an OBCENE amount of wattpad stories in the ages of 12-18 yet somehow never came across this series, almost every single plot point was 1., predictable, 2. unsurprising, that being said, as a now 22 yo I started the show not really invested as ofc it seemed very childish, but when I put myself in the shoes of 15 yo (the most probable age I would've read this book if I'd found it back in the day) by episodes 3-5 they had me HOOKED, the love triangle being the least issues I have with the show given its the central point really saved it for me, but ofc certain actions of the characters seem childish and immature in my pod but I get why they happen given their ages. the clearest thing I noticed is that the show itself is team Cole rather than Alex, from the introduction of the 2 characters to the amount of screen time, as soon as Jackie started dating Alex it was clear to me that they'd bring it back to Cole in the season finale and that the teapot would be the catalyst for this
Agreed!! I was also an avid Wattpad reader and somehow never stumbled on this book at the time, but this comment totally sums up my feelings toward the season and the three central characters
Your points about the large cast of characters being a good thing but I think that's a negative. Since there are so many people, it's hard to follow and care for certain moments.
once you are introduced to al the characters and get to know them a bit you quickly realize who belongs with who like cole and jackie had chemistry from the beginning just like alex and kiley; great banter, theres flirting etc and alsooo danny and erin, they just fit, you know?
I remember reading the book years ago, and went into the show not expecting much, but like you, I found myself liking it (even though there was sometimes some cringing haha) Now we just have to wait for Netflix to decide on season 2 or not :/ (Netflix, please stop canceling enjoyable shows!!!)
i totally agree about Jackie. I was expecting for romance scenes to show up but the actress just wasn't there. Of course she is a good actress but it make me feel like "girl, IF I WAS YOU..." but i enjoyed anyways!
It's so trashy and toxic but it was very entertaining and I'll watch a season 2 😅 So many tropes, way too many characters to give any of them enough weight. Casting in that family was laughably weird, like the oldest brother looks the same age as his mother and how did she have time to have 9 kids and do two degrees? Make it make sense! The only characters I loved Danny and Erin, I wish we got a bit more redeeming friendship development between Erin and Jackie, and I was more excited with just the hint of something between Danny & Erin than I was about the main romance! 😅 The writers really turned me around on the love triangle (like of course, but I wasn't confident they would based on how much I hated everyone haha). Alex was so nice and sweet in the beginning, but he got so unhinged, possessive and selfish once he was with Jackie, just consumed by insecurity and I really disliked him by the last episode. Cole was an asshole in the beginning and I was dreading the inevitable romance with him - but I actually slowly started to feel for him and thought he was way less problematic than Alex, very flawed but ultimately quite caring underneath his antics. Ultimately they were both toxic and I felt happy when Jackie left (with Danny! yay Danny!) cos gurl you need to get out of there! I also thought it was pretty problematic that she was like 15, traumatised by whole family dying, and moves into this chaotic house of mean boys, then pursued by 2 of the guys who are in a brotherly role to her now. It's a little weird to me now as an adult 🫠 And girl should be in therapy, her whole family just died!
This show was cute sure some parts were cringe but overall I was surprised how much characters were in the show each having their own story can’t wait for season 2 ❤
yes, it’s so fantastic for the character. they love the chemistry, the excitement, & the disappointment. it’s was on wattpad from 2012/13 like a long time ago, and in 2014, she published the book, and NOW it’s on Netflix 😳 👏🏽 seriously, i’m so proud of her from Ali Novak, the book. i’m also very proud of the actora & everything!! omg we NEED season two… 😭❤️
I love this show so much! I enjoyed hearing your opinion. Here are my thoughts: 1.) I need Danny & Erin together. Like, right now! 2.) I love the family dynamic and the fact that the show is so wholesome. 3.) I agree - Noah is a great actor! He seems like such a sweet guy in real life from the few interviews I've seen as well. You can tell he's grateful for this experience. I'm so excited there will be a second season!
Yoooo 😂this is a funny ass video but I just finished it and yessssss it’s so predictable I knew she was gonna end up with cole like I hate that they waited till the last episode to kinda confirm they would be together
It's all the same brothers love rivalry now 😭 I want a fluff romance, not this. And also I feel like Jackie with Cole is a weird combination bcs they looked like Jackie is under 18 while Cole is 25+++ something
Have not read all comments. Don’t know if this has been said , But Issac’s mother is George’s sister. She left home early His dad is in the military so no place else for them to go.
OH gosh what's wrong with Jackie dude! If she likes Cole then why she started kissing Alex? Jackie knows he's a play boy in past but she still likes cole because of he's handsome? But she hurts Alex so hard how innocent and decent that guy, but this girls likes play boys😢 Hard but true. I'm very disappointed for Alex cause he steals Alex girlfriend again 😔 I'm sad sorry.... sorry Alex....
Honestly everything about the show except for the phe triangle was chef's kiss for me. For the love triangle however, first I'm not a fan of brothers falling for same girl trope moreover Cole lacked depth, there was always the implication of Cole effect throughout and that is all that it took very tried and tested approach where the fl first denies the obvious but falls for him nonetheless while being in a relationship with someone else and Alex fell far too quickly yet not showing enough efforts. He kinda took the back gear and passive approach almost like he gave it away to Cole letting him win there was no fight that he did for Jackie to be his, he's also way too closed off when it came to his bestie Kiley clearly showing him interest. On a side note, Noah and Skylar did kiss though and Skylar mentioned his life goals and who he was trying to be to Jackie And Lee and Isaac are cousins from the mom's side I believe.
I tried watching the first ep of the Walters & Summer I Turned Pretty, and it’s not for me 😂 But there is a show I recently discovered & I’m literally telling everyone to go watch it cause no one has reacted to it. It’s not high school drama show, trust me you’ll like it. And I’d love if you make a video of it cause I love your analysis! It’s a meaningful and entertaining show! It’s called Cable Girls.
Im sorry but i hate cole , i dont like alex either since hes toxic as well , but he had moments of being sweet and cute but cole was an ick almost all the way through the series and was only likeable in the last two episodes and even then he didn't deserve to be redeemed for be with jackie in my opinion. Choosing between them is like the lesser of two evils. If i could choose jackie to be with niether i'd choose that cause girl just be single. also people comparing cole to conrad pisses me tf off because conrad was actually grieving his mom dying of cancer and also he had to be burdened with her dying almost the whole summer , while cole just had an injury dont get me wrong what cole went through sucks i can acknowledge that but the way he acts will never be okay , while conrads behavior is more understable his greiving doesnt excuse it either but its two different situations and its not fair to compare conrad to cole at all. But im more sympathetic i think because ive had a parent die of cancer so i know the struggle well. I do agree on your takes tho. Also nathan was my love and i was so sad with his epilepsy storyline. It made me think of Cameron boyce who was on disney with corey aka nathan , since corey played farkle on girl meets world and cameron passed of epilepsy so i bet nathan was sad but happy to spread awarness of it. May he rip
SPOILERS: besides the fact that I think Alex looks like a 14-yr-old boy his jealousy/insecurity was really off putting. The little things Cole did like auctioning himself to help Jackie raise money for the fundraiser, fixing her sister's teapot, bringing her to the flower meadow when the wedding bouquet was destroyed did it for me. Alex's little digs at Cole like "he's the worst" or "he's a dick" it's like he's trying to convince Jackie of that to keep her on his side and paint Cole as the villain.
I agree plus on top of all that Alex is gets jealous easily and kind posessive while Cole is just happy with Jackie being with wjoever she wants even if it is not him
You guys are reaching trying to paint Alex as a bad guy😂 if I’m not mistaken, Jackie chose him. While his personality may have not been attractive to the avg teenage girl. When Jackie was acting with morals and being goal driven and thoughtful of others you could actually see Alex being a really good fit for her. But Jackie is the true villain of this show. What she did to Alex was toxic by definition. And it will be impossible to make a happily ever after for Cole and Jackie because of how there story is developing. I think a lot of drama is on the rise for Jackie and lesson learned and accountability for her to mature. If not she’s gonna be disliked by many viewers. I think Cole will be Cole and if they try to make him this caring loving guy will not be relatible. His struggle with decision making gives him character and is exactly who Jackie needs to be with so she can understand you don’t choose toxic. I want Alex to remove himself from Jackie and find better. He’s way to good for her
After finishing the series, I think they all need to go on a self-improvement journey instead of focusing on romance. Cole is an irresponsible jack@ss, Alex is clingy/possessive, and Jackie should be spending some of her time working with a trauma therapist after school. I still loved the parents and the rest of the Walter siblings tho.(and honestly the show should’ve been about them imo)
@@lakeshow-vq1rm I totally agree, people are trying way too hard to make Alex look bad when he literally did nothing wrong the entire season. Yeah, he called Cole unreliable and a jerk a few times, so? It's not like he was wrong. Maybe instead of focusing on him, circle back to the looooong list of messed up things that Cole did? Here it is: - was being a jerk to Jackie from the start for no reason - made a bet with Isaac and pulled a dumb prank on her - left her behind when it was his job to drive her home from school. On her FIRST DAY no less - continued to treat Erin like crap all season long - missed Parker's game even though he promised to be there - didn't show up to help Jackie break down the cider cart even though he promised that too - stood Jackie and her friends up and went to have sex with Erin instead - got drunk on his mother's big night and ruined it for everyone and best of all: - cheated with his brother's girlfriend after specifically swearing to him that he'd never do sth like this But sure, let's focus on those three things he actually did right. Teenage girls are so dumb, I swear. I'm so glad I'm past that phase.
to me jackie has a personality but she is so out of her environment she ends up not being able to thrive. she had that little fashion rich girl moment but why is she with alex ? he's the total opposite of her. and she was being a bit bitchy to the family sometimes but it just ruins the mood
I finished watching it & yup it was hella predictable. I don't like Cole he's a narcissist out of all the girls that allegedly want you in that school why go after your brothers gf? Yous a b*tch for that idc how much chemistry y'all got that was a b*tch move! This is just my opinion I don't see what y'all see in Cole Also I don't like how you guys were making Alex a bad character & the reason y'all did that so it could justify Jackie's cheating
My point exactly. Funny how many of us older adults I assume and definitely us guys are saying the same thing. Many of them are just like Jackie. Obsessed with the hot guy and willing to ignore or overlook or justify every obvious red flag they know is true about Cole. They live in her shoes because they want a guy that doesn’t necessarily wants them. I cause then to be obsessed by definition. They live through movies like this one because it’s their fantasy to bag the guy that every girl want instead of choosing the guy who clearly wants you. But the truth is guys like cole will never change for girls like Jackie. Guys like Cole use girls like Jackie because they what they are willing to do just to be with them. And at this point it’s clear Jackie is obsessed with Cole and that’s not good for her are the show being that she’s the star actress
@@lakeshow-vq1rm cause in real life Cole would be doing this out of spite & an ego boost to his brother cause it's clear Alex is the favorite & he's jealous of that so to make him feel superior is that he's gonna take all his women. I almost stopped watching it after episode 3 where he sold himself at an auction like GTFO bruh you ain't all that. And that one girl was getting on my nerves talking about some "Cole Effect" like girl Stand up!! Like at my school a dude like that would get no girls not cause we are intimidated by him but we would all think he's corny as hell
@@awesomeyou6815 icl he would still get girls he has no game but he is learnardo decaprio and Brad pitt mixed he don’t need game and it don’t matter if he’s cringe
I only watched a couple of episodes because it was shot in Alberta and Alisha Newton & Sara Rafferty were in the series. You worry about Gen Z if they actually think this series was good in any way. It’s poor man’s One Tree Hill and One Tree Hill isn’t a good show either. Maybe people in Gen X and Gen Y will have much harsher opinions of “Life with The Walter Boys” because we’ve been over exposed to one too many teenage angst trope show since 90120. We’ve hit our moody teenage angst limit to suffer “The Walter Boys”.
this show is so bad. i love cheesy ya stuff but this series was so genuinely bad i could not watch it. 0 character development. i do not feel like i know any of the characters 3 episodes in. they don't even outright tell you how her mother dies and she just ends up on the farm with a bunch of teenage boys whose family is going through a financial crisis even though they own a giant farm and multiple horses and then they just continue on with the plot and ur like HUH. no way her mom was that rich and famous and didn't have some type of backup financial plan for her daughter. i never criticize things but this show was just so bad on so many levels and its disturbing to me that people like it just based on the men in the show.
Agreed you know before watching the show she's going to wind up with Cole it's so boring and cliche. I can't continue with it.
two episodes made me cry cause yes, the show is a little corny and very much teenager form, BUT, there's also some pretty real stuff, and it was nice to watch
I can relate as an ex-ballerina.
thank youu this is literally what i was saying
Alex is not exactly the good guy ... infact i think he's wrong most of the time....like he was practically showing off jackie to cole...idk if anyone noticed but whenever cole came he got all so touchy and even when cole told him the he didn't know about paige n him and all ....he still had a kind of grudge against him
And yeah alex had that feeling bcoz he felt like he was living in his shadow but as cole said he felt that too but he was not being a jackass and trying to make alex jealous bcoz of it.
He got "clingy" cuz they were 6 months together? idk if thats too early tho
@@remib1199I think cold became an asshole after blowing out his knee and losing football
It’s so bad, but I couldn’t stop watching 💀
Also, as an epileptic, I LOVED Nathan!
Like Jackie being with someone else other than Cole or Alex.
perfect boyfriend? the guy is the perfect exceple of a clingy boyfriend. the worst kind of a boyfriend
@@lakeshow-vq1rm
Alex will go to training camp, find his passion, suffer some injuries and humiliations and finally grow up.

Thank you
i totally disagree with u on this one, mainly because, cole was only a sophomore, so nothing could be done as his grades were dropping. during the show, u can tell how he's upset as he is worrying about his future and doesnt know what to do as football was the only thing taht could help him. so no, cole was not being dramatic, he was trying to figure out what to do with his life. also, yes conrad and cole are 2 different ppl so the comparisons are quite stupid imo. conrad was grieving because of his mother but cole was trying to figure out his future.
I wish we could be friends.
the thanksgiving episode made me cry actually
Maybe it’s just me but i loveddd the jackiecole kiss scene. Like Roman Empire fr
In my opinion Alex is kinda possessive and gets jealoud easy while Cole is kinda selfless in terms of letting Jackie make her own choices
@@cheekschu2152 but that was the idea. They needed a reason to hate Alex so that they could approve of Jackie's cheating on him with Cole

Only characters I really like were the parents and their dynamic. I would love a show with their story
Awwwwwww way to go Cole, and Cole and Conrad = Damon Salvatore. Yes, and if Cole and Jackie don’t get together in later seasons 2,3,4.
Your points about the large cast of characters being a good thing but I think that's a negative. Since there are so many people, it's hard to follow and care for certain moments.
The girl that plays Jackie was Vero in on my block
once you are introduced to al the characters and get to know them a bit you quickly realize who belongs with who like cole and jackie had chemistry from the beginning just like alex and kiley; great banter, theres flirting etc and alsooo danny and erin, they just fit, you know?
Are you going to upload your reactions to season 2 of TSITP?
I remember reading the book years ago, and went into the show not expecting much, but like you, I found myself liking it (even though there was sometimes some cringing haha) Now we just have to wait for Netflix to decide on season 2 or not :/ (Netflix, please stop canceling enjoyable shows!!!)
i totally agree about Jackie. I was expecting for romance scenes to show up but the actress just wasn't there. Of course she is a good actress but it make me feel like "girl, IF I WAS YOU..." but i enjoyed anyways!
I finished the first season of the show a few days ago. Its kinda cute and very relatable/Cliche.
i felt you with the shadow and bone 😢
At least they are not brothers...oh wait.
Unrelated but have you seen The Artful Dodger???? PLEASE WATCH IT, IS AMAZING !!!!! The best romance
The best show
less than a minute into the video, but I just have to comment this: YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO GOOD DROP THE HAIR CARE ROUTINE PLS !!!
I need a love triangle where everyone involved wants to be with each other not like in a throuple but you know what I mean 😭
It's so trashy and toxic but it was very entertaining and I'll watch a season 2 😅
So many tropes, way too many characters to give any of them enough weight.
The writers really turned me around on the love triangle (like of course, but I wasn't confident they would based on how much I hated everyone haha).
I was expecting to hate it, but the show has heart!! ❤

1.) I need Danny & Erin together.
Wait a damn minute!! They cancelled Shadow and Bone????!!
Yoooo 😂this is a funny ass video but I just finished it and yessssss it’s so predictable I knew she was gonna end up with cole like I hate that they waited till the last episode to kinda confirm they would be together
Are you going to oost your season 2 reactions to TSTP?
The reason I knew that Nina Dobrev is actually a great actress was because I quite liked Katherine despite finding Elena absolutely insufferable 😂
I just thought of that when you were talking about the purpose of the main girl
It's all the same brothers love rivalry now 😭 I want a fluff romance, not this. And also I feel like Jackie with Cole is a weird combination bcs they looked like Jackie is under 18 while Cole is 25+++ something
am i the only one who thought kiley was gay??😭😭 her and grace had way more chemistry than her and alex in my opinion
Have not read all comments. Don’t know if this has been said , But Issac’s mother is George’s sister. She left home early His dad is in the military so no place else for them to go.
Did you ever read Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys?? I believe it's what inspired the wattpad and imo much better!
On a side note, Noah and Skylar did kiss though and Skylar mentioned his life goals and who he was trying to be to Jackie
And Lee and Isaac are cousins from the mom's side I believe.
I tried watching the first ep of the Walters & Summer I Turned Pretty, and it’s not for me 😂 But there is a show I recently discovered & I’m literally telling everyone to go watch it cause no one has reacted to it. Hello Are going to do reactions videos for the Percy Jackson tv show ? 😊 I hope so
I think the underlying issues with Hayley and Will before their marriage is bound to come back and will be addressed now that s2 is confirmed.
THE moment they bleached her hair, i was out. And i was even further out when they were like “bRoS dOnT sNiTcH” SHUT UP
Tbh when I saw you were covering this I asked myself “didn’t she just cover this book?” 😂 oops my bad
About Erin - I felt she needed to apologize for her initial attitude and the “orphan” comment when she opened up to Jackie. I do like her though!
I’m so tired of these types of shows. Like I thought we all collectively agreed to leave them behind in the 2010’s 😂😭
Yo need your Percy Jackson reaction
May he rip
This series is pretty cliche but I do like the depth of the side characters
I don't get the Cole thing AT ALL
SPOILERS: besides the fact that I think Alex looks like a 14-yr-old boy his jealousy/insecurity was really off putting.
Here it is:
- was being a jerk to Jackie from the start for no reason
- made a bet with Isaac and pulled a dumb prank on her
- left her behind when it was his job to drive her home from school. On her FIRST DAY no less
- continued to treat Erin like crap all season long
- missed Parker's game even though he promised to be there
- didn't show up to help Jackie break down the cider cart even though he promised that too
- stood Jackie and her friends up and went to have sex with Erin instead
- got drunk on his mother's big night and ruined it for everyone
and best of all:
- cheated with his brother's girlfriend after specifically swearing to him that he'd never do sth like this
But sure, let's focus on those three things he actually did right. Teenage girls are so dumb, I swear. I'm so glad I'm past that phase.
I'm team Erin
oh how i MISSED YOU
Did you study literature in college?
to me jackie has a personality but she is so out of her environment she ends up not being able to thrive. she had that little fashion rich girl moment but why is she with alex ? he's the total opposite of her. and she was being a bit bitchy to the family sometimes but it just ruins the mood
I finished watching it & yup it was hella predictable. I don't like Cole he's a narcissist out of all the girls that allegedly want you in that school why go after your brothers gf? Yous a b*tch for that idc how much chemistry y'all got that was a b*tch move! This is just my opinion I don't see what y'all see in Cole
Also I don't like how you guys were making Alex a bad character & the reason y'all did that so it could justify Jackie's cheating
@@lakeshow-vq1rm wait are you a guy or a girl? Cause I'm a girl. The reason I'm asking cause you said "many of us guys" & i got confused
@@lakeshow-vq1rm they want a guy who's emotional unavailable yet very attentive to them cause it feels like challenge & challenges are sexy to them
@@lakeshow-vq1rm cause in real life Cole would be doing this out of spite & an ego boost to his brother cause it's clear Alex is the favorite & he's jealous of that so to make him feel superior is that he's gonna take all his women.
Cole is 25
His real name is Noah not Cole 😂
0 character development. i do not feel like i know any of the characters 3 episodes in. they don't even outright tell you how her mother dies and she just ends up on the farm with a bunch of teenage boys whose family is going through a financial crisis even though they own a giant farm and multiple horses and then they just continue on with the plot and ur like HUH. no way her mom was that rich and famous and didn't have some type of backup financial plan for her daughter. i never criticize things but this show was just so bad on so many levels and its disturbing to me that people like it just based on the men in the show.
also the acting is some of the worst ive ever seen. corey fogelmanis is too good for this.
this show kinda sucked (a lot) ..
Lol it is super cliche and kinda predictable but I still liked it for what it is
The show peaked at ep 10 🙏
Lmfao
@@cheekschu2152 What's funny? 😂. Maybe I should have said the last ep was my favourite.
You’re reminded you’re not the target demo for a show when you immediately have a crush on the dad. George had me at hello 🫠😂
I was flabbergasted, like Riley Finn what are you doing here?!
@@LiciaM Oh my god, I knew he looked familiar!
@@ma_kenzHonestly, I wasn’t even paying attention in the airport… it took until halfway through the first episode to realize it was him 😂
