Also for the ages, im pretty sure it’s will (24-25), cole & danny (16 & juniors), Alex (15 & sophomore), Jackie (15 & sophomore), Nathan (14 & freshman), Jordan (11-12), Parker (9) & I think Benny is 5. You acting like Alex is in his 20’s lol. He’s only 15 or 16. Cut him a little slack because he’s not the one who made out with his brothers gf twice. To me that’s more traumatic than a football injury. In the history of reality, I’ve never seen anyone down spiral from a football injury in my life and I know many who had career ending injuries. And she chose Alex for good reason. He wasn’t perfect but dang he wasn’t a villain. He wasn’t lashing out at his mom and dad or skipping school, getting drunk and being a complete jerk to Jackie.

I'm hoping the success of shows/movies like this show networks that there is a market/audience for less explicit YA content, but I also think there needs to be real reflection as to why explicit content depicting high schoolers and written/produced by adults is so commonplace these days

I just finished the book and I have to say that I like the show better and I really like the author is also doing scripts! Of course, the original book was written in her teens for Wattpad (and it shows) and I love how the show is going. Although, there's one thing that bugs me- some of the sweet/romantic things Alex does in the show are done by Cole in the book. I get they need to give Alex a bit of a chance in the show and gave Cole other cute scenes but still lol

cole didn't take paige. he kissed her because she came on to him and he didn't know she was dating alex. it's not like they jumped into a relationship after that. alex was just hurt and decided to take his anger out on his brother instead of the girl who actually betrayed him because he was in love with her and because he already had a history of fighting and resenting cole. his insecurity is his own issue and it jeopardized his relationship with jackie. it's not right that jackie and cole kissed, but it's not "normalizing cheating" to simply show something that can and does happen all the time.

i loveeee katherine and george. they're always such a united front and you can tell they love each other so much. i don't want them to ever have issues that cause a rift between them. i don't think i could take it! as for the teens, jackiecole are IT. i'm not always wholeheartedly opposed to a bad boy (i.e. jess mariano) so i wasn't against cole from the start, but because i often like to root for who i think is better for the protagonist, i was initially thinking it could be alex; but as the show went on i realized what you also realized... that alex sucks 😭 he may like jackie, but he's mostly fueled by his disdain for cole and wanting to "win," which is gross when the "prize" is a human being. on the other hand, cole (despite his weak moments that he deserved to get punched for) grew to truly value jackie as a person and seemed to care about putting her well-being above his. he had way more depth and growth and you can just tell from early on that he's who jackie truly wants, but is trying her hardest to resist. also, all of jackie and cole's interactions were so buzzy! it's insane that she had more spark just talking to cole than in all the pda with alex. also, even though "the cole effect" warranted a bit of an eye roll from me, i'm not surprised it exists in the context of the show. a guy who looks like THAT, with his immense charm, in a small town could only ever lead to girls being all over him lol. plus i relate to jackie in her attempt to seem above it all... but given the chance, they get to us eventually 😭

People keep talking about Alex having one thing and that is fighting with his brother, but that is the only thing Cole has as well and Misogyny. You bring up how he is with his little sister, but he literally blew off his little sister to get drunk. I also feel like Alex might know that Kiley is in love with him, but doesn't want to risk losing her in his life by dating her as she is the only stable thing he really has. All of Alex's fears also come true in the end, because his GF cheats on him once again with his brother. So it's not like his fears and anger are unfounded and he has no reason to hate his brother. Alex has lasting trauma that he has to work out and so does Cole and neither of them should be dating anyone. Cole is a misogynistic asshole who literally treats every girl like trash to make himself feel better about blowing his chance at College, Football and getting out of that town and Alex has trust issues due to his older brother banging his GF(s)... making him come off as annoying and whiney. I feel like what Cole and Jackie did in the final episode justified everything Alex did and said all season no matter how annoying he was at some points, because once again his brother slept with his GF and once again his GF cheated on him with his brother.

Ayyyy, fancy seeing you here! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought Cole looks way older than her... my first thought when he came on screen was "he looks 10 years older than her." The actors might not be that far apart in age, but the actress still looks significantly younger 😬 I also hate the "bad boy falls for good girl" trope. It's very rarely done well imo, and it annoys me even more when his love for the girl is framed as the reason he gets redeemed. The other ship doesn't work for me either, since they all seemed to experience love at first sight, which gives me zero reason to think any of them would actually make a good couple. It made Alex look immature, since his interest in her was based off NOTHING. Ugh, I think I just need to admit this show isn't for me. I hate most love triangles with a passion (especially when they involve 2 siblings), so idk if I should finish it 😅
the funny thing about her being a sophmore is that she is apparently supposed to be a freshman and it flip flops between episodes saying you can't take this class until your a sophmore, then one mintue she is taking the class and she is a sophmore. (sorry about my spelling)

The BIGGEST elephant in the room for me watching the show was this: if Erin and Jackie are athletes, I'll eat my hat. Casting picked actors who may have fitted what they were looking for in some regards, but let's be real - they were in no physical shape for an athlete and displayed no decent running technique or level of fitness to be athletes vying for college scholarships. I couldn't be sold on that.

You gave good reasons for why u like Cole...I didn't like Cole immediately so I couldn't even see the chemistry u saw. Also, I feel that the fact that the actor looks so much older than her that I couldn't get into it. I felt all of his actions were cringey. The bad boy trope really killed it for me. I never like the bad boys even when they try to redeem them lol
Alex good guy trope was even more annoying because they made his good actions bad. It was the guy who thinks he's a nice guy but he's actually just a guy "acting nice"...just ewww I don't even want him to be with his bestie at this point. She deserves better. lol
I want them to give her a new love interest but I know they won't cuz everyone fell for the Cole effect.
I agree with everything else like the parents and the older brother not having chemistry with his fiancee (I tend to not care about pre existing love stories)

that's soooo fair re: cole. I don't like bad boy trope usually and it's so weird this is the one time it worked for me but it means i totally understand ppl who are not fans of his. what i don't understand is being against him but liking alex...you hit the nail on the head about him i 10000% agree. Yes, i feel like they're setting Kiley up to be his endgame but honestly she deserves better than him.

Ayyyy, fancy seeing you here! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought Cole looks way older than her... my first thought when he came on screen was "he looks 10 years older than her." The actors might not be that far apart in age, but the actress still looks significantly younger 😬
I also hate the "bad boy falls for good girl" trope. It's very rarely done well imo, and it annoys me even more when his love for the girl is framed as the reason he gets redeemed. The other ship doesn't work for me either, since they all seemed to experience love at first sight, which gives me zero reason to think any of them would actually make a good couple. It made Alex look immature, since his interest in her was based off NOTHING.
Ugh, I think I just need to admit this show isn't for me. I hate most love triangles with a passion (especially when they involve 2 siblings), so idk if I should finish it 😅

the funny thing about her being a sophmore is that she is apparently supposed to be a freshman and it flip flops between episodes saying you can't take this class until your a sophmore, then one mintue she is taking the class and she is a sophmore. (sorry about my spelling)

LOL I didn't even catch that. There were *many* script inconsistencies but that is just so bad. How could the writers not keep straight the main character's grade???

The BIGGEST elephant in the room for me watching the show was this: if Erin and Jackie are athletes, I'll eat my hat. Casting picked actors who may have fitted what they were looking for in some regards, but let's be real - they were in no physical shape for an athlete and displayed no decent running technique or level of fitness to be athletes vying for college scholarships. I couldn't be sold on that.
I tend to get annoyed by little details like that too so i totally feel you hahahahha
