I've done SO much of this. It's easy to go on and on, for a very long time, just daydreaming and adding things to those boards. I find it's wise to set yourself a limit on various aspects of it, including how much time you spend there. If I didn't put a limit on it I'd never get started on my actual writing. It does help though. Plus it's very relaxing and enjoyable.
OH man.. this is my favorite part of making new characters lmao I usually don't put character boards as sections within the main story board because it makes it harder to organize character pins. I find it's a lot more inspiring to be able to get really specific with the character aesthetics and visuals from multiple facets, but giving them all sections of a larger board makes it hard to achieve that. Anyway, I make one main board for the whole story and only put in pins that relate to the story's overall theme and aesthetics in there. If I add a section to the main story board, it will be for songs that remind me of the overall story and its themes. After that, I make separate boards, one for each character. The character boards will have general aesthetic stuff, and then I make 3 sections within each character board. One section will include youtube links to any and all songs that remind me of that character, and their main theme song. Another section will be "[characters name]'s Closet" and I just build up a visual wardrobe of clothes and accessories they'd wear. The third section is for photos of the character's faceclaim and any images of people who look like my character (whether in body, face, or both) but aren't aesthetic enough to go into the main part of the character board. It's twice the work, but a lot more fun imo 😂
OMG, I do the same! Searching up for quotes that match your character's conflicts or give that vibe is incredibly constructive. Also, I used to be so confused about how to create my boards and sections and manage them, especially the ones for my characters, and I cannot express how much this video has helped me. Thanks a lot, Abbie!!! (the aesthetic of the video was heavenly 😌)
I love the way how Pinterest recommends half of its 'popular' pins as the MOST COMMON ONES. I've seen them more than a hundred times and tbh its strangely comforting to see Abbie pick the same ones i've picked over and over. 😂😂😂
My current WIP is so much like this! Sci-fi crime thriller/dystopian inspired by the 20s. I love this vibe you’ve created so much, thank you for helping me get more inspiration for my novel!
this is something your taught me when you posted for shorts for 'the otherworld' it drew me in and made me fall in love with the characters. # loveatfirstsight. i started doing it with my book and characters and it rekindled my passion for them and their world.🥰
This was so helpful! I'm attempting to write a 6 book series and sometimes things can get muddled because of all the characters, locations, etc. This was super helpful and I have a feeling I'm going to be on pinterest way too much now. LoL! I am so, so glad I came across your channel, even if it was totally by accident. Your tips and tricks have been an absolute godsend. 💜
Thank you for posting this. Ivy had ideas running in my head, sometimes I do physical boards but my family think I'm either crazy or just weird. This will help me so much, thank you again!
Good morning, Abbie! Just began following you on Pinterest, and also took your advice and began an aesthetic/character board for my WIP Whirlwind. Happy writing! :)
Ah!! I was resisting getting sucked into the Pinterest wormhole but seeing how inspiring it would make my stories now I think I will create an account after all
I spent hours one day searching for pins...but because I hate staring at screens more than necessary, I spent more hours pasting those images into a pages file, printing that out, and then cutting all my pictures out. My aesthetic board is directly opposite my bed and is one of the first things I see each morning!
This video was so helpful! I’ve wanted to know how to create the perfect mood board for a while now, so thank you. :) I would also love to see something like this but for playlists - book playlists or specific character playlists. Just however you do that for your WIP. This was so nice.
I have done this forever! Although, I haven't thought about specifically saying "aesthetic" to find things. But I am a visual learner, and I really believe a picture is worth a thousand words. I sometimes get too carried away with this portion of my novel writing and don't do enough actual writing! xp
This was incredibly helpful, going to do this for my novel. I adore Pinterest. Beautifully shot video too and good on you for making so many helpful and beautiful videos about the writing path.
The video was not only helpful, but I love the music and I'm gonna loop the video for studying XD Abbie's my favorite study and writing partner, between her livestreams and this. :)
I love doing this SO much. It helps to give myself such a visual reference when I'm thinking about my characters and where my whole thought process is going. This is so lovely to watch too, so thank you for making this! :):)
I can not believe you uploaded this video today! I was going to ask you in the fb group about how you make your boards, cause oh my word they are gorgeous and perfect. The timing could not be more serendipitous.
I haven’t tried this yet for my story, but this seems so interesting and fun. Thank you for the inspiration, I’m definitely going to try and make a board. Your story seems amazing, even though we don’t know the plot, it definitely seems like a relaxing yet thrilling story!
Yaaaaaaaaas! Abbie! Thank you for this. It has both inspired me to do the same and gave me some well needed ideas. I’m the type of writer that needs to “see” my characters and my story. Don’t know if everyone is like that. Anyway! I’ve been researching aesthetic boards and similar methods for having a visual representation of my stories this past week or two and so this video is crazy timely. Gonna try it out today 🙏🏾 P.S. My sister and I watch your videos all the time and they always provide excellent insights and suggestions. They’re always on point. Nuff love from Jamaica 🇯🇲 🤗
Your soundscape is so immersive!! This is a brilliantly edited video and I do love the subtitles in place of your voice. It has this cinematic quality while still remaining informative! 👏👏👏
I set a time limit to do mine: An hour a day dedicated to each character/setting board. I have a whole Pinterest dedicated to one book I’m currently writing.
The rain finally let up here! It may be sunny and chilly (perfect October weather!) but now I wanna give tea another chance (I'm a coffee girl through and through, but dang it Abbie, you make it look so good!). Creating mood boards for new story ideas is so fun! This was a real treat to get inspired with you. Excuse me while I go make some tea (an attempt!) and sneak away from work to follow you on Pinterest lololol.
Hey Abbie, maybe a good edition to your book could be something like a Great Gatsby vibe. It’s personally one of my favorite books and the aesthetics of the 20’s are phenomenal.
Hello Abbie!Really love your videos. You give me a lot of inspiration.I wait for every Wednesday for your new video.None of your videos disappoint me.❤️ I really liked this video too!✨

Today’s the Day!!!!!! Woohoo!!!! I love them so much!!!!! Also a Christmas story about Tessa and Weston perfect!!!!
I don't even know the characters yet but I can already tell by the aesthetic that Victor is my favourite.
This is so calming, Abbie; I played it while I was working, and it cut down the ADHD anxiety I usually have by a good bit. Beautiful 💛💛💛

My process is similar. I love watching how you do it. Please do more videos like this!
That is too cool.
Watching this I just learned you could add subsections to boards. Blown away. Now I have to spend months cleaning up my pinterest boards. 🙃

One of your best videos! Super aesthetic and the music choice was great
This is exciting. I think you’re slowly becoming one of my favorite authors.
This is all so beautiful… audio, visuals, everything 😍 And I am very down for any book that is part-inspired by Downton Abbey! 😄
I haven’t tried this yet for my story, but this seems so interesting and fun. Thank you for the inspiration, I’m definitely going to try and make a board. Your story seems amazing, even though we don’t know the plot, it definitely seems like a relaxing yet thrilling story!

Hey Abbie, maybe a good edition to your book could be something like a Great Gatsby vibe. It’s personally one of my favorite books and the aesthetics of the 20’s are phenomenal.
Loved this so much, I hate I just now came across it. Q: Do you create character boards for every character or just the main ones?
I got a new story idea literally earlier today and the phrase that inspired it is ‘If you love her, let her go.’ :] it’s gonna be…interesting.
Hello Abbie!Really love your videos. You give me a lot of inspiration.I wait for every Wednesday for your new video.None of your videos disappoint me.❤️
