Great video, and not only for beginners. Always helpful to see these tips and tricks even when I have been using my machine and don't consider myself a beginner. Thanks for sharing.
it is a learning curve with any electronic cutting machine, but if you are new i would suggest the playlist for beginners, which you appear to have found its a good starting point, thank you and have fun with your machine.
Thanks so much for your enjoyable & easy to understand videos! You have really helped me want to dive in. I just got the older SNC350 2 bundle off HSN & am looking forward to learning how to use it. I didn't want to spend more for the newer one because just being able to scan & cut things quickly pretty much sold me. I'll soon sell my silhouette cameo after I save all my designs. The SNC's software doesn't seem to have the best manipulating features for designs & wondered if you think using my older version of Adobe Illustrator (that I've never learned), would be beneficial to use for more complex design editing. Thank you again!
Glad you like the videos. Ive never used illustrator but i do have videos on my channel using Inkscape which is free and will probably have the same or similar features. but have a look in the "canvas" playlist on my channel because you can do more than you first think with canvas. thank you
Hi, I AM SORRY TO DO THIS TO YOU. I HAVE JUST DONE AN UPDATE OF MY SCANN CUTCM550. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME WHAT NEW ALPHA BETS, PATTERNS ARE THERE. I CANT CANT REGONISE ANYTHING NEW SO I DONT NOW IF IDOWNLOADED CORRECTLY. MY SCREEN DID SAY THE UPDATE WAS SUCCESS FULL. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP AS I JUST CAN'T NOTICE ANY THING NEW.
Hi im sorry i don't know, if you downloaded the update from the Brother website, there will be release notes telling you what features they have added or changed. thanks
I tried using the image trace function to trace the nose and mouth of a Easter rabbit on a design I purchased. Should I use a different editing tool? I bought the design from the Silhouette design store. I have a brother scan n cut sdx225. I bought the svg file. But when I uploaded the file, the machine and canvas both showed a message stating that some design elements were eliminated because they were to small. So, I enlarged the design to my desired size. The nose and mouth were still missing. So, I tried to “trace” them. Should I refrain from purchasing Svg files?
You can either use the shapes/tools in canvas and re draw them or you could open the SVG file in inkscape select the mouth and nose and delete everything else, make the mouth and nose bigger and save the new file. then open the new SVG in canvas hopefully you should have what you want then just resize it to fit the rest of your design, then save the Canvas FCM file
One more thought if canvas has removed them they must be really small, which makes me think they wouldn't cut well, are you sure its a cut file and not a draw file
WOW! Another fabulous tutorial. Thank you so much! The possibilities are now endless.....
Thank you glad you liked it

Where do you get the advance trace program
The standard auto trace is in canvas workspace, if you want the enhanced trace feature you have to buy it from a brother retailer
I tried using the image trace function to trace the nose and mouth of a Easter rabbit on a design I purchased. Should I use a different editing tool? Hi, im sorry im confused about your question, if you have an SVG that is already a cutting file and therefore doesnt need tracing.
The brother canvas eliminated the mouth and nose from the svg file. How do I create a new mouth and nose?
You can either use the shapes/tools in canvas and re draw them or you could open the SVG file in inkscape select the mouth and nose and delete everything else, make the mouth and nose bigger and save the new file. then open the new SVG in canvas hopefully you should have what you want then just resize it to fit the rest of your design, then save the Canvas FCM file

Thank you! I sized the file up to 4:5” . I will try inkscape. Thank you! Does brother have software you can purchase?
Can we use draw files?
I would gladly pay for classes!
