Is it true that residence permit is not granted for those on 1 year English tutored vocational courses? Are sponsored bank accounts acceptable as POF? If so, how much is required in it? Thanks for your anticipated response.
Hi! Between Polytechnic institute of Viseu and Leiria, which would you advise one to go for? Also, which has amongst them has good job opportunities. Thank you for your response.
I will say choose according to your pocket. lol. Leiria is close to Lisbon, about 1.5 hours by bus and Viseu is close to Porto. In every country, big cities have the most jobs, i.e., English-speaking jobs. Please remember YOU CAN'T WORK UNTIL YOU GET A WORK PERMIT. So prepare your purse for that space of time before coming here. 1000 euros won't even be enough to sustain you before getting a job. because you need to pay rent and eat.
Get a strong LinkedIn profile, get your driving license (both national and international one), have 2-3 yrs experience driving so at least if after you get your permit you can use uber do side hustle (they have an exam you need to pass though) Yes you can get customer service or content review jobs. There are other remote jobs depending on your experiences. But first you should have the Temporary Resident Permit…. From there you move ….
Haha...... That will not be so easy because its in another district, Leiria District. And I have never been there. But honestly, Leiria district is really nice.
Right now students are allowed to work; I don't know how long it takes to get a job (that will depend on your expertise and market). But please know you can only work legally with the temporary resident permit. And to get that, you need an appointment date (the appointment date for now is sometimes printed on your visa from Nigeria or not); if it is printed, then you know when your permit application appointment is set. After the appointment, if you meet all the requirements, you wait for your card to be sent to you at home. Then you can find a job legally. It is important to work legally please.
@japanationcommunity thanks alot for the feedback just so happy to have come across you and to your subscriber i really appreciate what you do looking forward to meet you one day gracias.
Like I always say, Come First, then settle in for studies, and when your temporary resident permit is in your hands, you will get a job. You need your resident permit first. You can ride daily buses to Lisbon if need be and you don't get a work-from-home job.
Can I apply for masters degree with an HND degree or should I do a short course/ part time program or PGd. I just want an advice, as regards getting permit and staying back
Hey Sis, about that last part, send me an email at japan.nation@icloud.com Here is my tip about the HND admission. Apply for admission, attach your ND and HND transcripts and certificates, then submit. Try these schools: Politecnico de Leiria, University of Minho, and University of Porto. If you are in doubt, send them an email by going to their international students page and finding the "Contact Us" page. They always reply. Also, when you get your temporary resident permit, you can work as a student. Please note that laws also change but as of now I know students work. After school, you can figure the rest out. Choose an English-taught program. Choose a course that is in a relevant industry. Get on the Duolingo app and start learning Portuguese. Good luck and congratulations for being courageous
Hi Japa Nation. I also have B.A in history like you. I'm considering going for Msc in Hospitality and tourism management, maybe it will be easier to get a sponsored job after graduation. Unlike M.A in history that may not have such prospect. What do you advise???

Peniche is such a lovely place; its in Leiria. I guess you will be in the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology, right?

While this is good teamwork. Guys, remember you can do this by yourself; be wary of bad eggs that will join the group too. Nice initiative.
