@@westernaustraliatrainscene5689 haha I wasn't chasing IP. My mate and I got it at Bayswater then tried to go to Thornlie station for 7146 with GL107, we made it with 5 minutes to spare.

Has the new Ellenbrook Line Services affected the running time of the Indian Pacific and TransWA trains?

    • @westernaustraliatrainscene5689
      @westernaustraliatrainscene5689  19 дней назад +1

@JulianTransporter91 There's a slight delay, whilst the Indian Pacific needs to arrive and depart slowly from East Perth Terminal. I'd say the IP will be held up only where it crosses over the suburban tracks into East Perth Terminal itself. Transwa railcars can move about more quickly. The signalling system, allows for more easier and frequent train paths.

I was on the Perth bound A series behind the IP and we were 15mins late arriving into Claisebrook. We stopped out side Melthem , Maylands and Mt Lawley for a few minutes. All the bayswater bound services were one signal behind each other. Airport and Ellenbrook line services behind us were only a station a part.

@NR29pacnat Thanks for reporting in about how the following suburban trains are delayed somewhat. There was a story, before the Ellenbrook Line trains commenced, that timetabling on Saturday afternoons, a few trains would be omitted to accommodate the Indian Pacific.
So, far as I'm aware. The Indian Pacific will continue to use East Perth Terminal in 2025?

i thought the ip was already using kewdale permanently but it seems just temporarily. what has been put at kewdale for this train? if the train is over a kilometre long they will need a one kilometre platform. this is perth not alice springs.

@vsvnrg3263 It was Kewdale, quite a few times last few years. Re the Bayswater Station upgrades etc. As also the shutdowns as needed for the Midland Line Metronet works. Where the Indian Pacific is parked up at Kewdale, it's a working freight terminal. With container trucks about. Far as I'm aware. The Indian Pacific will definitely continue to use East Perth Terminal. And Kewdale Freight Terminal is an emergency. Bearing in mind, that it's supposedly is still on for an interstate passenger rail terminal built at another Perth location? Like Perth Airport land?

@@westernaustraliatrainscene5689 , so how are all the mostly old people who use the ip getting on and off the train at kewdale? and it sounds like they have to slot the ip in between freight trains. thats tight. somehow fitting the ip in near the airport would be a good idea but the airport is not really state land. its federal land that was sold off to private ownership and they will not give land up cheaply. there is space at kewdale for another line that can take full length trains. they could put it where there used to be a ng line that ran across where beaurepaires on kewdale road is and through to where the welshpool station was. they could fit the ip there but all the passengers will need taxis to get away from there. if the ip is put somewhere else they could fit a second freight track there. and it could take longer trains than the existing track. someone told me the ip will not be at east perth in the future because it jams up the suburban train timetables especially now that the ellenbrook line is open.

@vsvnrg3263 I've seen the arriving Indian Pacific into Kewdale Freight Terminal, some 18 months ago I think?🤔🙂
From the public visitor parking area. People were there, waiting to pick up loved ones from the IP.
There are mobile ramps for the elderly and disabled to alight. Coaches, taxis, chartered vehicles of all sorts collect the passengers. Being in a freight yard, moving vehicles are strictly controlled by PacNat yard personelle. To make everything safe.
Back to your question, of one big platform being built there, that I'm not aware of.
I have seen the arriving Indian Pacific at East Perth Terminal. It's so easy to see the elderly people just walk off the carriages, with hand luggage being wheeled off behind them.
I think the Airport land plan, was supposed to have been along side the rail corridor there? But would still need a transfer to suburban train connection, I'd thought?
I like your thinking of the other alternatives.
Interesting story here. The WA State Government, was planning on upgrading, a $30 million project. The Victoria Quay old Fremantle railway yard area. Which included rebuilding of Victoria Quay Cruise Ship Passenger Terminal. And a rail terminal for the Indian Pacific. Like a true west coast to east coast Indian Pacific. Now that would've something special. But that got canned!
It has been reported that Transport Minister Rita Saffioti wishes the Indian Pacific to continue to use East Perth Terminal. Perhaps they are testing out how the Indian Pacific is travelling, now that there's three train line services in the Bayswater - East Perth section?
15 minutes wait for the following train, behind the Indian Pacific into East Perth Terminal, there'd be something in the wind!🙂

@@westernaustraliatrainscene5689 , so the kewdale yard is like alice springs with mobile ramps. i also like the idea of a victoria quay terminus. the best place. and a suburban train close at hand.
