Amazing journey thru many types of terrain. Austrailia is beautiful and the trees hanging over the rail lines something you don't see in America except maybe on a scenic railway. Thanks for the video and the music was a good choice (not elevator music). At 73 I found it pleasing.
You guys have the best job in the world when you consider, that you get see a Australia from a unique angle. Nobody else gets to see the landscape the way you do. I did my ticket but never got a start.
What a GREAT video ! Thanks AUSSIETRAINDRIVER 👍 Im from Adelaide, just got back from there 3 weeks ago, and took a train from blackwood to Adelaide while i was there ! Ive always wondered what the trip from Murray Bridge to Adelaide was like going through the hills. Absolutely spectacular! Thanks so much ! Your videos are amazing 👌
I used to travel on the Overlander four times a year during the 90’s and early 2000’s to visit family in Melbourne. The hills are spectacular, especially as winter approaches and the green starts coming back. I don’t remember much of the rest of the route, but coming back into Adelaide was always so exciting. The views as we came down the hills always made me glad to home. I love Melbourne, and I have fond memories of the early 90’s green and gold trams, but Adelaide is my home. The Murray River bridge meant it was time to have my nose glued to the window.
What a lovely run. Man.. I was talking with a friend and I was telling her that your videos make me want to move down under and drive trains for a living and forget all about this Information Technology stuff.
August next year we are going north on the Ghan and then driving back. It was always my intention too shoot video at Murray Bridge and now while watching this video I found the perfect place to stay, Bridgeport Hotel. Hi from NZ, Anthony
Firstly, thank you for taking up the time to fast forward the video. At the start of the clip, it certainly gives everyone the feeling of what it is like to ride and on an engine at that speed. Well Done. I enjoyed it.
Often hear you and the mighty beasst coming through Eden Hills and through the Sleeps Hill tunnel, sometimes at 1am. If the wind's in the right direction I can hear the throbbing of the engine, and the screech of the brakes. In the 60s and 70s sometimes took the train from Adelaide to Mt Gambier (the Bluebird?) and before that one of the old red trains with timber interiors and black and white framed pictures of local landmarks from the 30s. That was until the Mt Gambier line was closed down in the 70s..Mmmm I'm getting old.
That was fantastic! I hear those trains coming behind my place just before it crosses the murray, you can also see the original section of the 1880s rail cutting in this footage.
Cool chase through Millswood with the Railcar. It must be rare to drive the line for you guys, so great idea to get some footage when you can. Matt - M&S Trains
Great video, haven’t seen too much footage from the train crew’s perspective on this line so it was really good to see, especially since the scenery through the Adelaide Hills is quite nice and not all areas are accessible on road. I also must add it was a fun chase from Dimboola to Coomandook on the way back home 😅
Only just had the chance to get around this now, great work Adam! I've been lucky enough to have many a run through the hills before however it's nice to see coverage from outside the cab or carriage window!
Am a real fan of your photography style. Have watched a few similar videos of train drivers in other countries but yours are truly the best by far. You capture the raw beauty of the rugged Australian landscapes in an unconventional way and indirectly sell Australian as a great country to live in and vist. I'd be very curious to know what people from other countries also think of your videos. By the way, thank you for an enjoyable 30 minute journey this time around.
thanks, i appreciate that, the unfortunate part is im just idling with what id truly like to do, but so far the stats show working harder on vids doesnt really pay off, just need a gopro and everyone is hooked. but i do have some future ideas, but some would require an assistant at least.
3:30.... I love that bridge! Engineer: 'How wide do you want your bridge?' Accountant: 'Could you make it as wide as the ties, then shave a bit off?' Driver: 'Strewth, I'm not looking down...' 4:29 'Engineer: 'How wide do you want your tunnel?' Accountant: 'Maybe as wide as the train but only just?' Driver: 'Strewth, I'm not looking out...'
This is an amazing presentation with excellent picture quality. The music chosen is perfect as is the time lapse speed. I am privileged to be able to watch this on an 85inch TV and I really hope that you can do the same because a phone or tablet just won't do it justice.
February 24 Water level at Murray Bridge: 90cm (15cm above pool level, 1.44m below peak) Re-establishing River Murray levees and “de-watering” agricultural land is the state Department for Environment and Water’s highest priority, it has confirmed.

Didn’t realise you were on board, was wondering what the camera on GM10’s roof was for. If rumours (of Aurizon sending their CLF/CLP’s east) are correct, then the AK train could well be the only one to run in SA with a streamliner or more
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER actually this is your art, for other people to enjoy if they choose. You do you, and we'll respect that and come along for the ride.
Just wondering what speed the AK cars record at? Guess that's progress. Now an inquiring mind would also ask about that lone mound known as Mt. Islington now a childrens playground just as you began your reverse back across the suburban lines into the North Gate, just saying 🙂
Awesome. Floods still evident on the Murray. You seemed to switch off the mainline each time even though no train was coming in the opposite direction?

This video is an absolute treat! I've always wanted to see drivers eye view on this route. And from a GM makes it that much cooler. Thanks so much!
Wow, watched the whole Timelapse. Thanks for sharing 👍
