Broly, no contest. It canonized a popular character & gave him a personality, expanded the lore of the Saiyans, and it was just more exciting to watch. Super Hero, it seems like they want to do this weird pseudo-cel shading video game-esque animation style, the Gammas were extremely forgettable villains, Piccolo got a new form which will be nerfed almost immediately because that’s what Dragon Ball does whenever a character unlocks a new transformation and Cell Max was just a giant mindless monster that’s defeated 5 minutes after he’s awakened.
Very biased comment IMO Super Hero is quite a lot better than Broly (which is also excellent) - I feel Super Hero feels more like Z than anything we've gotten since.

After over 35 years of the franchise and a vibrant characters that Tori have created , it is a blessing that Goku and Vegeta is sidelined for others to shine.
Also DBSSH animation is far far better than Broly and I am 29 who grew up with 2D animation.
CG in SH felt so immersive that I felt like I was in the world.
The real Broly is The Legendary Super Saiyan, and he had a character. Wasn't just some brain dead tool who can't even speak like an adult. Even Bio Broly has a higher functioning brain than Super Broly
Both movies where very very good! 🔥 broly is better as far as a origin story! Super hero is the future and where the story is headed!
I like Super Broly for the spectacle, the animation, the battles and themes. However I like Super Hero for actually advancing the characters and their stories which has a bigger ramification for the future of the series, Pan is able to develop as a Character now, Goten and Trunks finally grew up, and maybe finally Gohan can find balance in his work and warrior life style, Piccolo got a much needed upgrade.

If dragon ball super super hero came out in a bubble, it would have been much better recieved. The main thing that bothered me about super hero was the lack of tension throughout the entire film. now every dragon ball movie that comes after broly will be compared to broly, and most likely won't be as good.

One thing I will add to your discussion was the reactions I got in the theater. When Gohan transformed I heard more gasps in the theater than I did at any moment in broly.
DBS Broly just takes it for me, but DBS Super Hero is nothing short of a classic-worthy film. They took a risk and it truly paid off.

Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 really made the movie for me. I really loved those new characters and what they did with them and how they were new challenges that Piccolo and Gohan had to struggle with and overcome. I liked Super Hero better because of this. My favorite thing about Broly was the prologue and how they added that bit of lore and it showed how Frieza came to rule over Planet Vegeta.
Super Hero introduces Beast Gohan. Beast Gohan is by far the worst transformation in dragon ball history. It reverts character development, it has no build up, it’s not earned, and its just a cheap call back. Cell Max is also just a cheap call back, everything that made Cell special is gone in cell max. The 3rd act of super hero goes down the drain pretty hard. If only Toriyama had stuck to his Plan and kept Piccolo as the main character and the gammas as the main villain it could’ve been the BEST Dragon Ball movie.
Brolys only issue is maybe too much fighting, and depending on personal preference that could be better.
DBS Broly is a lot better than Super Hero.

@DrJareld You're 100% right. In fact, Super Hero can be compared to the Bio Broly movie as both Cell MAX and Bio Broly are the same concept and Lord Jaguar and Hedo look almost identical. Super Hero is arguably just a reskinned Bio Broly movie only the two main characters get transformations
Both are really solid movies, one of the best stuff to come out of Super. But I have to lean more towards Broly. The visuals and animation was just amazing. That's not to say Hero's was terrible, the CG was pretty good, but I prefer the 2D Animation. And Broly's music is more memorable.

Personally i enjoyed superhero far more than the broly movie.
Following other characters besides goku and vegeta alone is one of the reasons i like it more.
I also preffered the combat in superhero far more than the broly movie. Half the time i could not even tell what was going on in the broly movie too many affects and the animation while smooth in movement just was not that clear and goku and vegeta looked kind of weird.
I much preffered the combat in superhero it had less effects it was much easier to see what was going on and i preffered the choreography much more.
However, i would say the writing and story was better in broly but i much preffered superhero over broly.
I also preffered the music in superhero over the music in broly.
I watch superhero 6 times for a week long rental while for the same week long rental of broly i only watched it twice.
However, i will say this is my own personal opinion not trying to cause a war in the comments.

Personally, i think both movies are strong in their own ways, i haven't been able to place one above the other in my mind at least
I don't care if i get hate for this: I prefer superhero. Despite the fact that cell max was a letdown, what happened in that movie feels more significant and memorable to me that what happened in the broly movie. Amazing animation and fights? Yes... The broly movie has both, yet i barely remember anything about it. I saw both the same day this year at home for the first time so... No recency bias here. Quite frankly I strongly believe that if both movies were animated the same many more people would like superhero more.
You won't get hate for this because I agree with you and you are correct. Dragon ball super superhero is a better movie than Dragon Ball Super Broly. Cell max was not a let down. He worked well for the movie and he served his purpose. Villains don't always have to be deep. Super had more character development and comedy. And all the characters are in a better position in the end of superhero so I do prefer superhero over broly.
It's Super hero for me. As much as I love Goku and Vegeta and the broly film, it's was so nice to see other characters get some shine. Piccolo was the MVP. Piccolo and Pan's dynamics were great, Gohan is a loveable goofball, he's like Goku, and yet different at the same time. Gamma 1 and 2 were interesting new characters. Just a really fun film.

“Kakarot vs Broly” and “gogeta vs Broly” are the 2 best db tracks I’ve ever heard
Both films are incredible!! I choose Broly...because it gave me that vintage DBZ vibe I had growing up watching toonami.
I love Broly as much as the next guy, but it gets a little too much praise for certain things(it deserves praise, but its flaws are mostly overlooked) .
The animation of Broly is immaculate, but it has a lot of that jarring, ugly CGI mixed in(not Resurrection F levels, but still noticeable), while the CGI in Super Hero actually looks great.
The music in Broly is more memorable(mostly because the terrible chant songs, and the bop that is Blizzard(but I don't really count end credits music because it doesn't play during the movie)).
I personally think Super Hero is a better movie, because Broly is more like 2 movies in one, which means neither get to be fully fleshed out.
By time the movie actually started I just wanted more Bardock(his final stand was glossed over).
By the actually end of the movie I wanted more of an Epilogue with Broly.
They give piccolo two forms because he was so behind Goku,in the resurrection of F he's weaker than base goku and in the moro arc we can say he's on par with base Goku or ssj goku,so giving him only one form would put him only ssj3 or ssGod lvl, that's why they gave him two
I’d actually argue that by the time Super Hero rolls around, Piccolo’s base form is comparable to SSJ3 Goku.
When Goku and 17 spar in the manga, 17 is able to hold his own against SSJ3 Goku. In the Moro arc, Piccolo did a better job at fighting a powered up Saganbo than 17 did.

You guys summerized most of my thoughts quite well, there's nothing more that I can say, Broly edges it out for me for all those reasons but my biggest nitpick is Toriyama's version of Bardock which I don't like as much as the version written in the special. Bardock has a better backstory and motivation there. I like what they did with him in Farther of Goku, with the psychic ability, getting banged up, then gets his zen kai boost, tries to warn his people and then sees a series of flash backs that builds up to Goku becoming a different kind of warrior and in the end being the one to defeat Freiza. You already went over most of this in your other video, but it something I was immediately aware of during my first watch through because minus doesn't do it for me. Aside from that, the Super Hero movie proved that characters like Piccolo and Gohan could carry a story without Goku and Vegeta, and the 3D CGI wasn't too bad either. Where my main criticism goes to is the fact that the villain was a mindless monster. I think there was so much more they could've done with bringing Cell back but I'm not here to throw out ideas, I have done that in previous comment and come to think of I have cooler stuff I can think of now. But overall its a good watch but definitely not as amazing as Super Broly.
Speaking of JuJustsu Kaisen, season 2 is finally here and I've been waiting for that.

My biggest gripe with Super Hero is that they went out of their way to make it look like Gohan got weak again by having him not sense Piccolo in the Red Ribbon outfit when even Pan did. Only then to later in the movie give him a massive power boost with a new form... like why??? Of course that's gonna make people mad it's not satisfying... even though massive power boosts from rage have been part of Gohan's character from the beginning since Radditz. I'm so tired of Gohan being weak then strong again weak then strong again... at this point if they want Gohan to actually keep up with Goku and Vegeta in the future they HAVE to at least show him training a LITTLE on screen for Beast to make more sense and be satisfying. Like instead of Gohan telling Piccolo that he was secretly practicing the Special Beam Cannon at the end of the movie, we should have actually gotten to SEE Gohan practicing it in like a flashback scene or something.
The Gohan situation is rather complex to me. On one hand he does have difficulty with his forms but doesn’t suffer burnout like in the RoF series adaptation. But saying he was unprepared when he actually learned the makakensoppo in secret is a lie (when was the last time post-Cell Gohan added a technique to his abilities). I also thought listening to Piccolo to destroy Cell Max despite being in a power rage (and ignore him) showed he still kept to his objectivity taught him in the Anime ToP. So,. I can’t be absolute about this one.

Personally I say both are very close on my top 10 favorite movies but I do like Super hero a bit more because the character interactions, the forms (yes I like the forms but they are not in my top 5 favorite forms), and the sacrifice with Gamma 2

Visuals: Broly, I will give it that
Music: Super Hero, just because of the subversion of not putting in a big rock melody for Gohan Beast, and I still don't really love Sumitomo's orchestration style, even when I like his tracks.
Villains: Super Hero, because I think Broly's character arc falls completely flat. It's all about them arguing over his agency but he barely says anything the entire movie. He just sits there and lets other character decide everything for him. I don't have any deep connection to Cell, so I don't care if they bring him back 'wrong'. The original still existed.
Final Battle: I hate Gogeta, so yeah Super Hero.
Story: Broly is a complete exposition mess, there's so many lines that are just there explaining everything. Super Hero has the issue that if you're a newcomer it makes it a lot harder to understand, but it's also less boring to watch.
Transformations: why are you asking about forms, why is that a criteria that is so specific

I got the Broly movie. Better fight scenes but I loved both but the Broly movie was visually superior. We got to see Goku mom for the first time and it kinda made the sayian origin’s more clearer.

I like Super Hero more. Gohan being my favorite character this movie had more meaning to me personally. Especially for a character thats been abandoned and ignored for so long. Broly had great fights but that's honestly most of the movie. A large fight scene lol I didn't think broly was great movie necessarily but the fights and fusion was cool.
I liked DBS broly better because of its animation, the story and music was great too.
Finally got to watch Dbs:Super Hero for the first time.
Took me half the movie to get used to aesthetics before it looked natural. Overall I was happy with it, some classic happenstance dbs writing but loved piccolo running the plot.

Realistically super heros animation was more consistent than brolys and people nostalgia judge people's view On super hero because they just want another cell v gohan which is actually lazy writing and the animation which they forgetting is a whole different category
I would have to say Dragon Ball Super: Broly was better than Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Transformation-wise, I would have to say the Broly movie was better only because both Full Powered Super Saiyan (I personally like to continue calling it Legendary Super Saiyan) from Broly and SSGSS from Gogeta were impressive as far as power. Goku and Vegeta were both at SSGSS and they couldn’t damage Super Saiyan Broly, or at least barely damage him, but Gogeta kept giving Broly heavy hits whether physical or ki based and Broly was still able to keep fighting. Super Hero on the other hand felt very nostalgic for Gohan. It really is a shame because as much of a Broly fan that I am, I also like Gohan as a character but the movie just gave him a new transformation out of nowhere (plus I didn’t like how they made Ultra Beast Gohan’s hair ridiculously long). I do have to give the movie credit for giving Piccolo the orange transformation. That was impressive. Music would have to go to the Broly movie by far. The entire soundtrack kept hyping me up where as in Super Hero I was okay with it. It did have the superhero theme (hence the name in the title lol). Story, I would have to make it a tie because they both told it so well that I just couldn’t decide. Like I said previously, Dragon Ball Super: Broly is better than Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

I love both movies and I think they were really solid on their own right, but I think Broly is the better movie.
Both movies are great and worth multiple views. However If I must pick 1 over the other, I'd say dragon ball super Broly was the winner. It had this continously building tension, insane action, had my favorite characters.
Super hero had lots of slice of life which I was thankful for though. Gohan isn't my favorite character, but he was good throughout the movie. Just didn't have that same tension that the previous movie had.

Super hero was garbage, it had funny moments but the movie was not good
I feel the same, very lackluster to me. A couple of cool parts but I was bored. Cells personality was what made him an awesome villain and they literally just took that away. Super hero I watched twice. Once initially and the second just to make sure it wasn't good. Lol it was sub par. I'll watch Broly over and over though.
The thing is after watching super hero the animation style made sense it worked with the theme of the androids and what not but it's also made the movie too goofy, not one time in the movie did I feel like the situation was dire and me I just personally hate that imo they made a joke of Gohan piccolo a bit but mostly gohan this was suppose to be a movie where we see gohan be what we wanted and we didn't it was too focused on the comedy aspect and I didn't like that I enjoyed the comedy but it worked against what gohan ended up becoming, even when he transformed beast it didn't have the impact of when broly rose out the ground, gogeta finally being Canon and we see goku and vegeta succeed hell even vegeta going SSG had ppl so hyped cuz we know the essence vegeta been working his ass off and achieved it gohan literally came from behind his desk fought two androids and was bacc to his peak and going beast idk it just didn't hit he never felt intimidating broly could have did things different yea but the movie gave you substance all the way you saw the complication of broly you see the inner workings of all the other characters and how they each affected the story even down to chile super hero to me didn't take serious of the situation but a good comedy

Dragon Ball Super: Broly was the overall better movie for me, I liked Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero though. I think it was such a good thing that they made Piccolo the main character of the movie and that he got two new transformations. You can't blame Toei Animation experimenting with CGI animation but I prefer my dragon ball to be hand drawn. Looking forward to seeing what new content they give us in the future! :)
I like Superhero better. But imo these are the best Dragonball Movies. I you put one over the other I will not call you crazy or disagree at all. Very huge W for Dragonball.
Super Hero was needed for Gohan to have a clear starting point in the series other than being the student that's too busy to take care of the world dangers. If they don't take advantage of this plot to make Gohan's character develop even more in the future then I can agree with the haters saying that SH was bad and/or a waste. For now it's a fantastic movie in my eyes.

Dragon Ball Super - Super Hero is just the Bio Broly movie only the main characters get new forms.
Cell MAX and Bio Broly are basically the exact same concept, Lord Jaguar and Hedo even look almost the same and both have goals of creating powerful warriors through the use of science
So I really like both movies, however if I'm being honest with myself, Broly is better in my opinion. The story is just beautifully written. Music is good and animation is even better. Super Hero is great though; I find the music in super hero to be better but I find most of my love for that movies comes out in the final parts leading up to Gohan transforming and finish Cell max.

As a story superhero is way better but it's the fights man broly just had them bangers man Gohan beast is cool didn't dig cell max too much but I'll take broly
That's a surprisingly tough call. Broly is, I think, the better package. The animation, the story, the characters, nothing doesn't hit on some level. But Super Hero, while it's more flawed I feel, it felt like the first true step forward for the series since... Well maybe since Super began.

DBS Broly did have a new transformation the one where Broly tapped into the power of the great ape.
Broly was excellent, especially in its flashback scenes, and the slow back and forth between Broly and Gogeta was great; need more of that instead of abrupt finishing moves all of a sudden.
I personally pretty much can’t fault Super Hero and loved every minute of it. Piccolo going giant was incredible and I love that they brought that technique back!! He’s my favourite character overall so that movie was an absolute blast for me. My only dislike of it was the abrupt ending, but still quite satisfying.
I like broly better because to me it has a better story. Plus broly is my second favorite villain after cell. And it showed broly in a different perspective

It's a tough one, especially with how much I like Broly (character), but I think I like Super Hero more.
I'm glad that Piccolo finally has some new forms to make him more relevant in terms of power scaling. I also like that he finally has forms that actually look different (more than just bulk/height increase).
Another thing I liked was it felt like there was much more character development, and for more characters, too. This also allowed characters that weren't Goku and Vegeta to shine. I guess it just felt like there was more "heart" in the movie, overall.
It was one of the worst movies in the dragon ball franchise coz there is no Goku and Vegeta in it. dbs broly is so much better. period.

They dropped the ball with Super Hero, I’m sorry. Super Hero wasn’t bad, but That movie could have been so much better than what we got. The Broly movie is perfect from start to finish.
1. We HAVE to move past Gohan not keeping up with his training. Gohan has had enough examples with Majin Buu, The TOP and Moro arcs to know his power is needed and that he can’t solely on Goku and Vegeta all the time. That truly irked me and doesn’t make his transformation feel earned. It feels like a random ass pull. Gohan is my favorite character and is the biggest disappointment of the movie for me. Even though Piccolo used the dragon balls, his power ups felt more earned and makes sense due to his mindset on wanting to grow stronger and protect the earth and his Namekian heritage. Piccolo was the star of the movie hands down.
2. Having a movie titled Super Hero and NOT having the Great Saiyaman in it is a totally missed opportunity. I would have preferred like Gohan patrolling maybe even helping Krillin solve crimes as another way to keep him sharp and his training up. You could have even incorporated the manga stuff and have all saiyans Gohan, Goten, and trunks being the Saiyamen sending hedo to jail and hedo becoming inspired by them to make Gamma 1 and 2. I would’ve even accepted that. That would have brought Trunks and Goten into the story better as well being inspired by Gohan.
3. Cell Max was a waste thru and thru, and should have been developed a lot better.
Those are probably my biggest gripes.
Broly was clearly done better as a spectacle, its a way better movie than super hero, retconning broly and minus is huge. The build up fights looked amazing and gogeta v broly was sick. Super hero is the better story, I think less time was needed to showcase picolos teddies, Dr hero and magenta and more focus on Beast. The overarching theme was picolo wanted gohan to establish that he needed to be ready to be the hero. They needed to give Beast more time, more build up. Picolo orange made perfect sense and was brilliant mind you. Brolys better if you need to watch a film, hero is better to disect, discuss and establish the story going forward
