There is normally open and normally closed switches. I bought both from eBay and of course put the wrong one in first. Once I got the right one in it worked fine.
I had the same problem with my truck after a air leak was fixed behind the dash. The air switches were replaced, however the shop installed the wrong ones. The parking brake cutout switch and cruise control cutout switch should be "normally closed". If the switches are swapped with "normally open" type, everything works backwards. Example: High idle with parking brake released. Cruise works with brake pedal pressed and kicks off when released (use caution when checking). The parking brake cutout switch has to be unplugged (open) to check this. The freightliner air manifold diagram can be found online. Hope this helps.
THANK U SO MUCH. And thanks for watching. That is exactly what is happening. I changed the air switch for the cruise control. On the air manifold. Freightliner must have sold me the wrong switch?
Thank you man. A few days ago I noticed air leak behind the dash and when I opened it it was on the second switch from top for cruise control at the same time I lost cruise. So I went to freightliner and bought new one but when I replaced it I still didn’t have cruise. So now I red your comment and tried it with brake pedal pressed and it works. Tomorrow will go back to get right one. Thanks again
It seems like the dealers and shops are installing and selling the wrong ones even if they have the vin. Kurt, make sure you check both switches. I used two of the same switches to fix mine. My parking brake cutout is located on the lower left of the manifold in a fitting shared with the driving lamp switch. This fixed the high idle/ cruise mode problem. The cruise kick out switch was in the center of the manifold and this fixed my brake pedal.
My cruise control works fine but the idle bump doesn't work at all and I just changed this whole assembly out because it was leaking air so I replaced the manifold and all the sensors as well.
Hi I did find out the problem. I didn't do a video because I didn't fix it yet. It's the air switch behind the dash on the air manifold. There's 7 or 8 air switches for certain things. Freightliner sold me the wrong air switch. They all look the same. When u buy it make sure they sell u the right air switch. Thanks for watching
Ok i have similar issues except it bumps idle when parking brake is engaged but cruise itself doesn't work. Cruise worked before I replaced the manifold. Any suggestions?
I think it's your air switch that is connected to your air manifold. And if u put new air switches in? Freightliner or whoever. Sold u the wrong air switch. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck
@@Dr_Angry I don't know which one it is? U will have to go to Freightliner. They have a schematic of the air manifold. And which port is the air switch for the cruise control
Hi buddy I got 2009 century with auto shifter transmission I have problems with cruise control it’s work in idle but not when is on the road it’s any body know what I can do thank you
I would change your air switch. It's locates on the air manifold behind your dash. Make sure when u get the part. That Freightliner gives u the correct air switch. Also they should have a diagram of which air switch it is on the manifold
@@wilmerrojas6969 Maybe it's the cruise control switch? Or maybe the air manifold itself? Or also they may have sold u the wrong air switch? I woul double check. That's what happened to me. They sold me the wrong air switch. They all look the same
Unfortunately it didn't work. I changed the speed sensor on the transmission as well. That didn't work either. I'm going to change the speed switch on the dash next. I'll do another video when it's fixed. Thanks for watching
yes I believe so. I think the problem. Is an air switch behind the dash. There's an Air Manifold. And there's like 6 or 8 different air switches that go to the Manifold. They operate different things. If u go to Freightliner. Make sure they sell u the right air switch for the cruise control. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck
I'm good thank you. Unfortunately no it didn't fix it. It may be the speed sensor switch on the dash? I changed the speed sensor on the transmission. And that didn't work either. Sorry
