Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity.
However, byond is old as an engine, is limited in its own ways, and largely prevented a number of people from joining in. And thus, there was Space Station 14 - which is free and on steam! This open source monster replicates the madness and is the early version of what promises to be many decades of stupid just like its sire.
Join me in Space Station 14 friends. Be farty spacemen.

The Robot is 7 Safe. Upon hearing that my brain screaming "Oh god dammit who let Doctor Christmas build a fucking Robit."
I could see Doc Christmas come up with "flexible" rules for the robot's behaviour, claiming it's more natural than any "rigid" rules to govern its behaviour... and then the robot just goes crazy, kills a bunch of people and catches fire randomly.

I tried learning ss13 but could never really get things down. I’m going to have to try again with ss14 now. Watching this has given me the itch
Getting things down is such a foreign concept to me in ss13. I just "yes and" everything I come across.

I played ss13 for a single round. Had no idea what I was doing, UI was a mess... played ss14 for a round. Picked up the controls way faster. Still didn't know what I was doing though

This was one of those all-time classic Checkers traitor/chef rounds. The prospect of force-feeding someone rotten meat until they drop over dead reminds me of why I got into SS13.

I want to get into this game lol, my pea-brain probably couldn't handle all the new roles, rules, and controls though.
I encourage you to try it out! You don't need much prerequisite info, just jump into a passenger role and chill in the public areas, you'll pick up a lot literally just treating it like a text based game until you feel more comfortable manipulating the world lol

Looking forward to finding BPL14 in the server list next time I get the itch to play! I've mostly played DeltaV(esp before it was acalled that) but switched to Frontier after the admins started giving special treatment to their friends and banning a mime for pranks. 😂🤡🍿 BPL based server is going to be amazing though.
