Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity.
However, byond is old as an engine, is limited in its own ways, and largely prevented a number of people from joining in. And thus, there was Space Station 14 - which is free and on steam! This open source monster replicates the madness and is the early version of what promises to be many decades of stupid just like its sire.
Join me in Space Station 14 friends. Be farty spacemen.

I'm more impressed about the ability to have an actual BAND with people playing different instruments all at once. That's fucking amazing to me. Never saw that on /TG/, or goon that I can remember.

I've spent plenty of time in a marching band, no tubas are not cool. Tubas are insane. Ours conducted various rituals that involved sprinting around randomly carrying sousaphones, hosing eathother down with the contents of their spit valves, and praying to a picture of Aaron Rodgers with one of our director's faces shopped over it, cause his name was also Aaron.
Granted there was a long standing tradition across the entire band that made every friday "kickbutt friday" so insane is relative.
Or that one time we got stuck inside thanks to rain so we all sang out parts and banged on desks to "practice". 250 bored idiots screaming and banging on shit it was fantastic.

Prussens Gloria will always be memorable to me as the song I hummed to myself carrying my son piggyback up seven stories of the Indianapolis Children's Museum's giant, central, wheelchair-accessible ramp. Imagine a seven story wheel chair ramp that wraps around on itself in a corkscrew. I needed that lively march to make it.
Holy fuck I remember being a part of this! I was itching to pull the trigger on those seccies. It's great seeing how that started out. Also loved being part of the band.

Twelve hams is always such a blast to play with, I did many a roving band adventures and traitor schenanigans with that man.
So I had this idea. Can you use the trash chutes to transfer gas from one room to one other?
If yes then reverse the chute direction, fill the tash compactor room with gas. flush it into the station and send a burning lighter up there once the room is empty.
Maybe a fun firework?

Your super old SS13 engineering videos got me to start playing SS13. Unfortunately I only found them 5 or 6 years after you uploaded them. Nonetheless I've been playing on goonstation for about 2 years now. Loads of fun, loads of frustration but it definitely changed my life and it's very hard to really explain the magic in words.
My only advice for potential new players is to start off as a character with no responsibility and maybe a server that's not heavy rp until you know the game. Don't worry too much about not being able to do anything useful. It's part of the magic of the game to be incompetent to a certain degree.
Also, improv, if you see somebody acting weird, follow them until something happens

The dumber the thing someone is doing, the greater the danger what it is covering for is to the entire station.

Mosins only cost 1 TC.
It is theoretically possible, albeit probably incredibly stupid, that two or three traitors could spend all their TC on Mosins and have enough guns to arm every non-Security department on the station, including the greyshirts.
This is probably way less efficient than doing Cargo things and making enough money to afford guns for everyone, but I find it really funny.

Dude, youre the QM. Theres no way theyd expect a head to be a rev. Even if they saw it theyd just figure its for a bounty.
You know.. I was just thinking of two things specifically while watching this.. One thing I am not shocked that is not in the game due to balance issues but would be kinda cool in a way.. and something else that is stupid but I think would honestly fit the game.. The first one.. A flash-bang that only Revolutionaries can build, anyone hit by it's flash are converted.. The other is a grenade from a really stupid movie.. Where the grenade itself is labled "Pick me up" and said grenade detonates every time it is picked up.. Only the one who picks it up is harmed ( but they are vaporized )
That second grenade honestly feels like it would fit really well with the game and I am really shocked I have never seen it even in SS13. Lets be honest people will STILL pick it up in SS13/14 even if they just seen someone die from it like what happens in the movie... ( The movie is called "Mom and Dad Save the world" ) Though I would make one change and that is to make the grenade randomize its appearance somehow as long as it would be a item someone can/might pick up. Either make it change each time it kills or after X amount of time.. Obviously its inert till its first activated but once it is, no one can pick it up without being "vanished"
Mosin Bayonet's are actually Spikes, not blades... Dammit SS14...

Why does that farmtool indentured servant have a real job with all access. This violates over 528 NT laws, clearly a terrorist did this. The fact the HoS did not restrain him and "ask him nicely for a few hours" who he really works for and how did he get all access and become a captain where he get these "real" papers who hacked into NT for him. Simply repulsive, any real crew would have spaced him instantly and call a NT emergency. Clearly there is a bunch of traitors on board way more....... then usual. God imagine the smell of the captains room I bet it stunk for months. This is why getting rid of all regulationm that all lizards must wear a GPS-explosive headimplant at all times is insane!
