  • Easily one of the best rounds I have ever played in Space Station 14. Great mix of roleplay, action, all while stuck in just my perspective. This is a post commentary style video.

      I had a really interesting Rev round where I (QM's 2IC) resisted the mind control long enough that the game UN-brainwashed me.
      Basically, I knew I wouldn't successfully be able to kill my QM that was in full Gun Cargo mode, my new Rev programming said I shouldn't blow my cover unless I could get the kill, and the real me didn't WANT to kill my (honestly really nice) boss.
      So, I roleplayed it as my character finding a loophole in her programming and logic-bombing herself so she didn't have to kill QM.
      (All the other heads could go get fucked for all I cared, Sci and Engi were useless, and Sec was Sec)
      I got a message a few minutes later that I "remembered my true loyalties", at which point I ran to QM and spilled as much as my character could remember-which wasn't much, because, well... mind-whammies aren't gentle.
      But in the end, QM and I got to CentCom, and the Revs were all either detained or dead.
      Hail Cargonia, fuckers.

    I was wondering if you'd make this shift a video. Conrad Roterstein is my newest character, and I'm still trying to find my footing with him. He's a dutiful man, but not a fighter by nature.
    When you came by with the shuttle, I cried tears of joy as I was legit the last person alive in Cargo after HoS took half of security to die in medbay (I think), and the QM was cut down by the Clown with AA. It was a brutal fight, and I spent basically all my lethal shells.
    I was actually trying to make for the tiny fan when I boarded, lol. But I collapsed before that happened.
    You claimed you weren't a hero, Tyrone. But you stepped up to the plate when duty called. I was honored as Head of Personnel to be served by such a man.

    This is why LRP is my favorite
    MRP takes it self just barely too seriously for my liking, and HRP is WAY too much of a no-fun zone.
    The weird twilight zone of invoking roleplaying within LRP is so magical, it's so much better because it's not expected. It's like a weird mix of MRP and LRP, somewhere between the two, where it's basically a chaotic roleplaying comedy.

    • @megalobanter3997
      @megalobanter3997 Месяц назад +2

      honestly i think lrp is the best place for rp, both on ss13 AND 14, because you're not forced to do it so you have less restrictions on how your character behaves. MRP and above ends up restricting a lot of ideas because of the "self-antag" rule being called, even when you do something as simple as slipping sec as a clown.

    Salvage is such an experience. You get back from an expedition to find all hell has broken loose, and often your best course of action is to just hide out in space. If you can order a gun crate and crack it open with a pickaxe you can arm yourself, or if the station is pretty much lost, you can disassemble windows to space it while hiding key staff on your ship.

    I was a sec recruit that came in about half way through the shift. I wound up going to cargo with another officer to defend it from revs with a shield and my issued gun. Cargo was converted mostly and let in a mime who thew an IED at us. Survived that somehow partially due to the shield I had, fired a few round out of my sidearm at the mime clipping a few of the cargo techs who pulled spears as the QM tried to shield one of them.
    We got cut down there, I got restrained and taken to medical stripped of everything but my jumpsuit, then zombies was called. The head rev (I think) was one of the doctors who actually revived me and cut me loose. Found a gun eventually and wound up working with the revs to cut down what zombies there were but I was bit in the fighting so I turned and was taken out as well about 5 minutes before the round ended.

    Personally, i play on LRP because i have issues maintaining myself under certain metaknowlege, i find it really hard to act like im not aware of certain game states and mechanics and would not see myself having fun in a MRP environment, i find the lower quality/lack of RP is a fair trade for it, but that in no way means i dislike RP, its always amazing to find the moments of chaos in LRP align into something, especially since the chaos of LRP has a way of generating stories that wouldn't normally occur in MRP. My honest to god favorite gimmick of roleplay lately is acquiring omnizine (reliably through a somewhat round start gimmick i will not share for now) and then claiming to everyone that i won it in a poker match (before inevitably donating it to the CMO because its only just enough omni to fill a hypo, might as well)

    • @Liltenhead
      @Liltenhead  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I agree. I really like LRP cause it has much more varying skill levels across every role in the station. So lots of really weird things happen that the more experienced world of MRP doesn't get to see often. MRP still has a lot of chaos, it's just different.

    I was "Rose of Harmony" This shift and this was my 2nd time playing as QM and or even a command role so i made a ton of mistakes during this shift, And im surprised the revolutionarys didn't kill when they brought you to cargo. Eventually they all rushed cargo while you were gone and i managed to gun one of them down but not kill them then i got stunned and dragged away outside to my death. It was a fun shift at that and the HoS hiding in a locker on Evac.

    Yesterday I was the only scientist managing anomalies. I'd contained an Ice anomaly near botany and built plasma glass around it to keep the crew safe. While going to weld the glass, I slipped on the ice and dropped my active welder which critted me instantly (I was working myself to death quite literally).
    Some gray saw this happen, said he'd be back, never returned. I was left to lay there in crit while over the radio other scientists called out that the anomaly was going critical. They all called out but no one did anything. When it did eventually go crit, it took me out and heavily damaged science. 10/10 I had a good time watching the rest of the inept science crew avoid anomaly work in favor of borg building because it meant i could respawn into a salvage borg and start living the good life in Salvage.

    i had the inverse of this experience last night, where i gave myself up as a rev so i could escape the station with my life. i told captain and his security guard that i wasn't a head and that they shouldn't shoot. i had restraints in my belt that they could have used on me, but the captain just replied with "so?" and the secoff immediately after shot me in the head. after i was already dead, the secoff proved that he had restraints by fucking cuffing my corpse. i ended up malding for the rest of the time in deadchat.

    I also had a rev round yesterday. We had already won so the people with sec gear were arresting any sec they could find. We took two members of security hostage and brought them with us on the shuttle. I think warden was even revived by medical. I was a little nervous taking warden to the shuttle since people kept floating around us with weapons. They kind of left when he got put in a chair next to another sec officer and there was someone else also guarding the prisoners. It is nice to see RP on rev rounds, I hope this is a sign it will become more common as time goes on.

    I got reved last night and managed to take Hos alive and keep him as a hostage. Other revs kept attacking him randomly and one even crited him after I explicitly told people "We arent animals, we just want change". I ended up dragging HoS to med because everyone else either refused to help heal them or outright attacked their gasping body. They ended up dying but I revived them. The journey was on a biblical level and I ended up basicaly kidnapping hos from the other Revs and escaping on Salvage Shuttle. Never had a HoS call me a "Based Rev" till then.

    • @TheeOK1
      @TheeOK1 6 месяцев назад +1

      Isn't the whole objective for revs to kill all heads tho? That's the only way to get green text and win the round, and as a rev you're literally brainwashed to help the revolution, going against that is basically not playing ball with the main objective. I'm surprised you didn't get bwoinked. Interesting rp, but basically defeating the point. Way to do this but cooler and goes with the gamemodes main objective? Ask the heads for a trade or you would kill the hop, surgically implant a bomb in the HoPs chest after using a voice activator on it and setting it to a word they'll say eventually (HoS is perfect, or any alive heads that'll come up in a sentence). Do the trade normally, and then wait for the boom.
      Note, the voice activated bomb is something you can do in ss13 but idk if that's the case for ss14. Ss14 is super behind in content and Ive only been checking it for a week. He called you based because you were letting your revolution lose

      As the HoP, I never planned on staying in hiding. My plan... well, initially it was just to get away from the massive hoard of revs at Cargo. Then it was to swing around to the bridge and call CENTCOM for an ERT Extraction. But.... yeah, that fell through.
      Can't speak for the HoS. I know he was trying to RP it out, but everyone in death chat was dog-pilling him.

    I rember one of my rev games in ss13 was when i was a coroner and i got turned. And since sec saw the revs in medbay and yust yeeted some acual explosives. (We where stelth rev) so long story short head rev got gibed. Buuut me being the unhinged coroner, yust put the brain in a "new" body. And thats how i singlehandedly kept a revolution goin. This ironicly hapened a second time but it was during the round ending so not much of a inpact, becides the head rev seing how cracked having a coroner can be. Mind you that during the time when i was saving the head rev all the other revs died. But for some reson nobody suspects the coroner to be a rev. Oh also the irony that the head rev got revived in a new body. So sec had no idea it was him

    The first step to surviving a revolution is quite simple: do not die.
    There are more steps, but I haven't played enough of SS13 or 14 to know them by heart.
    EDIT:
    The second step is to avoid being flashed if you are a non-command role, and if you are Command, be very careful.

    I had two rev shifts in salvage. First one was when Rev mime caught me by a soda machine. I hate non-RP rev so I immediately ran off because I don't have to obey orders if head rev can't give me any and I pretty much spent the whole shift as a plant in cargo. At some point a different rev gave me weapons, but I didn't use them. I pretty much only relayed information without doing any harm to my boss at all.
    The second time me and other miners got converted after our first flight to asteroid and immediately ordered to kill QM, I couldn't get out of it this time, but I sabotaged instead. The rules say that I have to obey the head rev but not that I have to succeed obeying their orders. So I pulled out a knife and attacked QM right next to his office. He stormed in, called in sec and they busted every miner, even those that weren't involved. They knew it was me, but since everyone hates sec they didn't snitch. So we sat in brig pretty much the whole round since nobody had mindshields.
