I took the senior engineer role once, and was immediately asked to teach atmos how to tritum. problem: I don't know how to tritium. or frezon. I then discovered that there are no tutorials online. thankfully a dragon showed up and ate me.

@@FrikandelKaaskroket frezon is simple. Just mix plasma and oxygen, make them burn, than collect tritium and feed it to more oxygen and N2. Cool it to lowest possible temp and voila. I've made a vid on my second channel, but it's on Russian.

Old SS13 TG Station player here.
Getting the hang of engi on SS14 was real easy and only really needed a few vids from you to really put me at the top of my game with it- Its basically just the basics of engi on TG Station since there isn't a big ass death crystal to worry about... The nightmares I have about that thing are endless. all I really have left to learn is the singulo, but it seems a lot easier.
P.S. I went from medbay main on TG to engi main on SS14, so I only really knew the basics of how to engi on TG- Fight me.

    I like these videos
I only can learn by doing, it's pretty rare to find a player willing to actually ruin their round to teach another player.
I really want to learn Atmos but I really want a SS13 friend who can teach me all the intricacies. Watching/reading guide after guide on Atmos does nothing for me, but once I do something once in-game I'm set for life.
Mostly play 14 because I know basically everything except Atmos, but that's because totally screwing up everything else isn't a game-ender lol.
Tip I suggest if you only learn by doing: I learned Engineering in a private server just by taking the China Lake, raising hell in a few cluttered departments and took a LONG time slowly piecing things together. Keep doing that until I got a lot faster. Though I don't know how to set up a proper scenario to learn Atmos the same way.

  • @Derpenscruben

Gotta say, thank you for these videos.
I know another one I mentioned maybe doing sec again. But I hard focused Medical for paramed, and just got to Station Engi as well. You have been my first source to prepare for departments I'm going to learn; Then having more knowledgeable people be a secondary in-game teacher.
I know how to rush AME, core count to injection, Solars, Singulo setup. And going to try learning Atmos and Tesla sometime. Assuming I don't swap to Sci soon!

Since when did SMES start to convert HV or MV? It only stores power and transfer further by HV. HV to MV converted in substation. And APC convert MV to LV.

    • @Liltenhead
      @Liltenhead  Год назад +3

Converts is the wrong way of phrasing it. But substations need power fed to them through HVs is the point I was trying to get across. But you are correct

Everybody has to start somewhere, I learned a lot of my engineering by being thrown in the deep end. Don't forget to teach folks the basics of atmospherics! The advanced stuff can be information overload to someone new, but the basics are so so so god damn important for keeping people alive.

Lately it seems like we've needed more basic atmos knowledge out there. Lots of high pressure superheated water vapor disasters cropping up. I don't know if this was due to spacing changing or just a new influx of players.

Ah yes, random entounters, screaming people and a the end die painfully. I do love SS13 a lot! The first time I played this game I was a miner medic or something like that. I also got a teacher on my side to teach me how to save people. When I ever learn the basics, I would love to do the same to new cadets! After all, we need more new players for out great game!

I hoped you liked the assistants, CE said fuck it lets go, and essentialy asked me to hire more tech assistants when he already had 5. I'm p sure I added four more of them at his request. And yabshoulda taken him to maints. Holofanned a window and smashed it. I've done that for teaching a few times.
Also considering how chaotic that shift was with every other crew member having a python or two, it seemed like you and the intern got on well!

To train spacing repair, remember that fireaxes can now pry plating, pick an airtight room, ask for a atmos to remove a wall and a floor, and demonstrate it there (should your atmos tech cooperate anyway) also a decent chance to show off inflatables
