Yes this video is dry, and already some things changed literally as I uploaded this video. Arachnids now don't die as fast to no oxygen, and they slowdown at 65 damage and 80 damage instead of 50 and 70.
I came back to this after a round last night where I noticed I could get drunk as a slime. Which I thought they were immune to. Guess not anymore. That also means that finding a booze-o-mat during salvage will be a lot more interesting. Speaking of, I find slimes work best for jobs that regularly require EVA since they breath slower. Most EVA kits have access to nitrogen tanks, though as salvage you're going to need to find a nitro can for a refill. And of course they still haven't added emergency nitrogen air tanks in slime survival boxes yet. Just goes to show how much prejudice there is in Nanotransen.
As a diona player, the most noticeable changes are slowness and emotional damage :( No other diona players normally go for more dangerous jobs, like HoS (mainly security/command) and if im not wrong, I am the only HoS diona player in lizard, even if im not, its very lonely.
I do wonder how arachnids being faster will affect security. I thought every secoff ever would be an arachnid, but no glasses seems a huge downside (I expect they will just ask engie for welding masks) greytide and similar as arachnid being much harder to catch by secoffs will also be interesting.
If they aren't wearing a welding mask they either can't use their flash, or you just flash them depending on what side the arachnid is on. It gives them a pretty large disadvantage since you'll always know if your flash will be effective or not.
@Liltenhead yeah, I imagine flashes will be used more. I excpect to see huge shortages of welding masks from now on. Normally speed boosts either constitue a veichle or drugs, so seeing them without that will be interesting. I always thought a spider race would just have built in magboots or slip resistance, so moving faster is interesting.
Flashes aside the speed alone is very good for Sec. Can catch up to fleeing suspects much faster or simply out-maneuver someone in combat. The extra pockets make quickly switching to something like handcuffs or a utility item a bit more convenient if you don't like to have your inventory open 24/7. The lower barotrauma damage can also be situationally useful if sec gets spaced during an armory raid. Tho others have said Arachnids may also be very good for Engineering. I speculate they'll be fantastic for Paramed just for the speed.
As a Slime main, all you said is true but if you good at combat and good at dodging. its not really an issue fighting chefs when you steal theyre bbq sauce
As a slime main, on Frontier Station, I consider the fast bloodloss recovery(I think) and slow suffication a major win. Their immunity to N2O is also great, especially for certain expeditions, and the increased water need isn't a problem.
@@samuelloomis9714 I play slime too on frontier, Its not an issue getting nitro, increased piercing damage can be an issue (carps, xenos, etc.) But having good armor and a ranged weapon makes it allmost nonexisting. And yet im sure you do expeds in groups or with someone so they can allways save your buttcheeks.
Something I noticed with dionas that you forgot or didn’t know is that they’re natural lightweights, try drinking 30u of whisky and you’ll see what I mean
Something i could see a buff to diona that they are significantly less slowed by dragging things, cause they are already slow. but root legs give leverage. Maybe armor and such, also not slowing your movespeed as much. just played dionna as engineer, hardsuit makes them BRUTALLY slow.
Two critical things not listed here or possibly changed later. Diona split into three Nymphs on death (you control one) and if you survive long enough you can grow back into a full Diona. Second Diona dont have brains and cant be cyborged. They will be full killed if the controlled nymph is killed after the main body so run and hide like a mouse.
Really inspires me to make a ss13 codebase for ss14 (for porting over features that don't fit the current mood of ss14 ( like grid based movement and the exact values for item damage) for fun of course)
On DeltaV (the new nyanotrasen) we have arachnids for a long time, they are different from here, like they cant wear hardsuits or even emergency suits at all..... Super hard to play in any department, but they have the same ability's like spider, they can spin webs and make cocoons. I think this typ here is better, but they should also have maybe the ability to make webs, then they would be pretty cool i think
I act like I am fine but really all I want is *rattle rattle* back. Love too see my favourite item in game too the O mega soap. I also thought the spordor made a noise that sounded like something from papers please agaha jokes

try a diona, with a duffelbag, in an emergency eva suit, dragging a corpse. moving is more of dream than anything else
Would putting a diona on a vehicle pretty much just counteract their slowness and barefootedness for that matter?
Put em' on a secway. Vroom.
To a degree, vehicles don't control as smooth as walking though

why would someone sabotage atmos with co2???? plasma is absurdly more effective. also cant wait for plasmamen to be added, my favourite from ss13.
You can't see it, and it was before air alarms so it was even less noticable

no Ethereals ? that sad.
but on the bright side no moths to chase me becouse of my light.
