I like the detail that every camper dies the way they were hurting the environment! Just goes to show how dedicated the team behind Blender is. The first blue guy steps on a snail at 0:25, then is killed by snails at 6:30. The hair girl sprays her hairspray at a spider at 1:26, then is killed by spiders at 6:12. And finally, the barbeque guy kills a butterfly with fire that turns green at 1:29, and then is burnt by fire that flashes green at 4:37. Very cool part of the already mind blowing animation!
Bare minimum analogies, which where literally the point of the (awful) story, is dedication...? Why are peoples standards so low nowadays? You see a 💩and praise the effort it took to produce it.

- SPOILERS BELOW - I like how they were ironically killed by the very thing that they did. The blonde guy with the bat crushed a snail, and later he got crushed (and presumably eaten) by multiple snails. The rainbow-haired girl with the pepper spray attacked and killed a spider and was later suffocated and killed in a spider web. The redhead dude with the lighter fluid started a fire and incinerated a couple butterflies, and was later tied up and burned in a large fire with a bunch of torches by the sprites. The black-haired guy with the boombox urinated on a ladybug, knocking it off of a mushroom, and was later drowned in urine by the sprites. Then there's the main character, who had saved a bird from choking on plastic six-pack rings, was later saved by that very same bird, who attacked the father sprite and allowed her to escape. It's a nice little touch.
To be fair they did say they tried to capture one of them like assholes. And they didn' attack her till... well she tried to help them XD don't fuck with fey man. they'll be chill so long as you is chill.

You haven't seen many animated movies, have you. Like, actually gone out and looked for animation targeted at older audiences, instead of just the stuff you sit through with the kids/grandkids lol.
I appreciate that the short has some tells early on for what you're in for. the guy stomping on the snail, the beer, and the piss all work as warnings to the audience that the animation isn't going to be kid-friendly. The cast being one-note classic slasher flick tropes also helps clue you in for what you're in for. It's a cheap trick to disarm the audience with an cute aesthetic just to blindside them with gratuitous violence and i'm glad this short avoids that.
This is fantastic! I gotta admit, the briefer moments here disturbed me a lot more than the main plot. Namely the eggs breaking when they hit the ground and the slime-trail left by the bodiless Sprite as he pushed himself along.
I kept rewatching this over and over again because I'm in love with Ellie. She's too pure for this world to get hurt. Even the Sprites refuses to kill her, because she does care for the nature just like they do. But instead she'll freed the people, I guess they had no choice but to kill her.

Cannot believe this is from blender! This has enough potential like a million dollar Pixar movie. Wish the creators the best of luck with their other projects.
Well, it doesn't seem like it and I'll explain why. *SPOILERS ALERT* Those four just wanted to capture the sprites themselves while the girl was sleeping. The sporty guy has clearly stated that and emptied the pickle jar exactly for that purpose. They just didn't want her on this matter as a "tree hugger" and she was left alone. That in turn doesn't mean that the gnomes didn't want to kill the girl. They actually clearly did chase her for the same purpose as the others and only the bird has saved the protagonist in the end. That's why I personally think that the movie's moral is kind of ill-formed or borked in the end. The only 'good' character is still being subjected to revenge and multiple death threats by the supposed 'good' guys. You could say of that there are only two good characters in the movie. The girl and the bird, perhaps. UPDATE: The girl was indeed chased by the gnomes for the cause of trying to save her mates. That's based on the fungus master's words actually. HOWEVER. She couldn't do otherwise, obviously. Selling her human friends to the sprites sect would totally destroy her persona, both moral-wise and film-wise. Even if she left without helping, she still was a witness for the mass murderers. And even if the gnomes have burnt the corpse before her seeing them, she still saw the bloody boot and would eventually figure out the cause of her friends being gone. She would in turn call for help of the armed forces or something, so I wouldn't believe the gnomes too much on letting her go. Their maniacal behaviour is certainly not what I would consider trust-worth. UPDATE 2. I'm pretty sure that the movie is about a girl's transformation from a merry 'tree hugger' into a warrior. From a prey to a hunter. Her hair has changed, her attitude has changed. She now knows for sure that the nature itself can be dangerous and she has to survive and protect her kind. Her final state at the fungus master sais it all.
@@VladislavTurbanov Eh, I don't think they would have targeted her until she freed the others, though. Otherwise they probably would have gone ahead and secured her as well.
@HexEngineer not for sure, since the sporty guy clearly said 'we just wanted to catch one of them'. Even if you're right though, the correct behaviour for her (in sprite's vision) would then be leaving her friends for inevitable death, while saving herself from the forest. She clearly couldn't do it and that would ruin our feelings for her as the protagonist completely. Her behaviour however was right from the beginning, she both told her friends to be nice to nature, was nice to the nature herself also. Then she tried to save her own 3 remaining friends from the inevitable death in a peaceful manner, by setting them free. Didn't kill anyone yet. In the end, when the funguses switched to killing herself (they could've told they only needed the four, not her) she has justly defended herself, actually destroying lots of sprites. I think in the end, and this could actually be part of the story's moral, the girl have realised that nature itself can be hostile, and has to be stood up against, when the humans are in danger. They're also part of nature in the end. The 'nature' girl 've essentially transformed from the merry 'tree hugger' into a furious ninja soldier, ready to fight for her own life and for the lives of her friends. That's quite obvious, I suppose. The bird however was the only one who was fine with that. She remembered who has actually saved her and paid back the same, even to the now opposing side. It's more than possible that the fungus master has knew the bird since he called her 'brother bird' in the end. That would mean he has also cared for her. However the bird have chosen to help the girl instead. The bird must have known that the girl has killed lots of sprites, but also understood the sprites' actions were not just nonetheless. That's of course as judged by someone who's not responsible for the original script. Using some common sense only.
I'd say he was completely rational for the kind of creatures they are. They're not human, so can't really compare their mental state to that of us. Not sure why I'm defending these fictional murder smurfs, but I am. Maybe because I liked them killing the unlikable side characters.
@@multifan745 Blender is used to create and render the environments, some editing is typically done in external software. However, blender has proven quite sufficient for post processing and it might have been used for fine tuning here too.
This is GREAT! The story was so unexpected. Even with the title, I don't think anyone was expecting this be a straight-up HORROR film. I also love how at times, the animation ALMOST looked like Claymation. I love how all the teens were killed in karmic ways, while Ellie was SAVED by karma in the form of the bird she helped earlier. The "anyone can die" aspect was also thrilling; towards the end there, even when she saw the log-bridge out of there, we weren't sure if she was gonna make it. I do feel bad for Ellie, though, because not only is she likely traumatized, but she'll have to come up with SOMETHING to tell her teachers and her classmates' families, because there's no way they'll believe her if she tells them about the Sprites. Best story she could possibly give is they all decided to run away or something. Anyway, AMAZING short film, definitely gonna check your other stuff!

I think Ellie is the ONLY good person in this short (and the bird who saved her): her companions were jerks, indeed, but these smurf-like creatures are PURE EVIL. Instead of trying to kill the humans, they could have just driven them out of the forest like ''Be gone, and don't ever come back!!!''

Maybe Ellie became a famous writer to cope with the traumatic experience with the sprites, and she uses those stories to warn people about them and teach them about the importance of nature.

When Blender Studio does a much better production than the curent Pixar films
- SPOILERS BELOW -
I like how they were ironically killed by the very thing that they did. Well, it doesn't seem like it and I'll explain why. *SPOILERS ALERT*
Those four just wanted to capture the sprites themselves while the girl was sleeping.
@@VladislavTurbanov wow, u missed whole point. lol, calm down and stop {internally justifying the girls friends} or {painting the sprites red/bad}.
@@VladislavTurbanov listen the dialog they said at 8:00
@HexEngineer not for sure, since the sporty guy clearly said 'we just wanted to catch one of them'.
"Alright sprites, let's burn the bodies and have some peppermint tea!"
Well that's one way to say "I'm a psychopath"
Di de diddly
They hurt the animals so but yeah its like they are Killer smurfs
I'd say he was completely rational for the kind of creatures they are. They're not human, so can't really compare their mental state to that of us.
Not sure why I'm defending these fictional murder smurfs, but I am. Maybe because I liked them killing the unlikable side characters.
I love how none of the deaths include blood, yet they’re so gruesome and disgusting
this is exactly why im using blender to pursue my dreams of being a 3d atrist, just amazing!
and it is open for everyone, I might give some contributions if I learned developing skill well.
Hey me too, we can work on something together, sometime, if you don’t mind
Yeah Hollywood should hear about this and make this into a full feature movie 🎥🎞 right now because this is totally wicked awesome 😎🤩😃🤟🏿 and I want to see what happens to the girl 👧 in the end like with the sprites follow her and kidnapped her or place a dark spell on her 👍🏿;)
I imagine the best explanation she could have is that they were killed by a bear or any other big animal, maybe mention that it has rabies if she wants to get rid of the Sprites as well or make up some story about a murder in the woods. Either could get an investigation started.
She'd probably say that there were druggies or cultists in the woods that took them
Ellie would write it into a book that would teach the kids to respect nature or the sprites will make them pay the price.
The only kids that were aggressive towards the nature are Boombox guy and That jerk. Cooker guy and Pretty girl didn't do anything really bad, and they didn't really want to harm nature. Sprites are awful.
It was brutal, but the fact that such amazing quality of cgi can be produced with open source software is just out of the world. Hats off to the blender development and animation team
Yeah this short film 🎥 🎞 is mind blowing 🤯
Hollywood should hear 👂 about this and have this published in 20th Century studios or Universal Studios To become a full feature animation movie 🎥🎞 right now because I bet this would become the worlds 🌎 1# animation movie 🎥🎞 of all time because this is totally wicked awesome 😎🤩😃🤟🏿 and I want to see how it ends for the girl 👧 who escaped the one called Ellie
This animation made me confused, scared, and weird. Lots of things just happend that i cant explain i love this
It's criminal how cute Ellie's design is
Holy Crap!!! I forgot the blender animation studio has no target audience, and It actually caught me off guard when the dark tone happen.
Me too, I guess it was planned as Halloween movie, so yeah... Haha..
IKRRR, I FORGOT AS WELL
Same, The character looks like from a PG Dreamworks movie. But damn, drowning in Smurf piss 😣

Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand!
They just showed that their program is beautiful and can be used professionally, gosh it was like watching a movie, these 10 minutes felt like an hour of a movie, and that's amazing
I’m with you on that 👍🏿 buddy this is really amazing 🤩 video. They should make a full feature animation movie 🎥 out of it right now because I wanna see how it ends for the girl 👧 who escaped.
I thought this would be some sweet wholesome short story😭😭
Totally loving what I saw
I honestly would like a full series with this, its a franchise that holds a lot of potential when it comes to story telling.
Yeah I would like to see how it ends with the girl 👧 who escaped from those psycho creatures
I wonder if they make parodies as how horror franchises go so ellie somehow end in space with the sprites
@@joserobertosolismerlin5527 Maybe 🤔
I could see it as kind of a Friday the thirteenth style franchise where it’s like a summer camp that gets taken over by the sprites
I honestly think it works better as a eleven minute movie there's only so much they can do with this concept
