Your way of throwing ingredients together reminds me of my grandma, when my brother and I were young we used to spend summers with my grandparents in the country and this was how she cooked, fast, simple, nutritious and really tasty! They didn't have time for fancy meals, the farm life is pretty busy;) I have learned to do the same simply because I can't waste time on planning, food preparation and fussing;) Thank you for the inspiration!!!
I love that you feed your family healthy meals and use stuff straight from your garden. This is how I envision feeding my family one day (I'm 19, single, living with my parents and siblings). I am trying to eat much like you do now but I don't do all my own cooking so I just do my best to make the healthiest choice that I can.
You make really nice, healthy food for your family. Great video! Can I give you one tip though? You can secure your chopping board with a wet paper or cloth towel placed under it. Then it won’t move around and there’s less risk of a knife slipping and cutting fingers.
I see stuff like this and since ! don't eat meat I can't really use it, but, I realized that I could put quinoa or beans in place of the meat in a lot of these recipes and they would still work! Thanks!
I admire the love and effort you put into your meals, ground wheat, sourdough, fermented foods to promote healthy gut bacteria...prebiotics and probiotics, fresh veggies and herbs from your own garden, just to mention a few things I've noticed. You are amazing!
Lisa please don't take this the wrong way but we have so many simikar taste in living life! But we have similar taste and you inspire so much to keep going on the healthy path😙 I'm so thankful for your channel! God bless you sis!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the tortilla recipe. I’ve been making them every single day and feeding them to my family up to 4 times a day. We like egg tacos for breakfast. Ham and cheese pinwheels get packed into the lunchboxes. We will have Mexican food or even just a warm tortilla on the side with dinner and slathered honey or butter with cinnamon sugar for dessert. And yes, I’ve got my ball of tortilla dough on standby for dinner tonight - steak and veggie quesadillas with homemade refried beans.
Oatcakes, tahini sauce, chopped apple or dried apricots, small glass container of yogurt plain or snazzed with honey/ fruit, or made savory garlic/ dill/ salt
Yes!! Your breakfast and dinner videos have been a HUGE help for me (my husband has noticed the difference)! Already clicked 'like' before I even watched this one. Thanks for sharing!
I love how you feed your kids the healthy stuff you and your hubby eat (sans the chipotles/jalapenos!) When I visit families, I noticed that the adults eat really good quality, healthy food and the kids invariably eat pizza, french fries and chicken nuggets! I often ask 'why aren't they eating the same as you guys?" and they often say "oh, well they won't eat [insert healthy item] "and I have to bite my tongue to avoid commenting; "well as the parents isn't it YOUR fault that they developed a taste for garbage junk food and now won't eat real food??" It always baffles me how the parents blame the kids for eating junk!! As though a kid goes grocery shopping and plans meals for the family!
Lunch for us is leftovers usually or something simple! I'm making your wraps for our mountain day today so thank you, can't wait to eat them! All the recipes look so good and healthy, I'm the same way with chips if I ever buy them rare but if I do mom gmo
I absolutely love your no fuss meal style! Just normal, natural healthy food. I try to cook like this, but need to get better at making my own dressing and sauces.
For myself, I eat a big salad (including some chopped leftover meat) almost every day for lunch. If I'm going to be away from home, I throw all the ingredients in a jar with a lid and then bring along a big bowl to eat it out of. For my kids at home, I give them either yogurt topped with fruit and granola, or a "continental"-style lunch like you do, or leftovers, or "cheesy toast" (buttered toast with cheese melted on it), or lunchmeat or tuna sandwiches. If my kids are eating away from home, I pack basically a "continental" lunch in Rubbermaid LunchBlox containers. I would typically put in salami or ham, some kind of fruit, some kind of sliced veggies, and some popcorn/pretzels/tortilla chips.
Loved these ideas. I also have 5 kids and I’ve pretty much given up on lunch, dinner is enough work as it is. I found you because of your sourdough starter video...been watching you ever since. Thanks for all the great ideas!
I’m pregnant with baby #4 and have been finding myself in a huge lunch rut lately. These are great ideas and sound so yummy! We are home everyday too because we homeschool, so thanks for some warm lunch ideas as well!
Organic peanut butter 'n honey on whole wheat. lol Fast and easy. My family were farmers too so they cooked like you do, Lisa. Now that I'm older, I don't use recipes anymore either. I just throw together what I like. For outings or picnics though, it would have to be peanut butter 'n honey (I don't like packing foods for on the go). For just myself, a bag of tortilla chips would do. I could eat a lethal amount of those things.
Hi Lisa, I love your Chanel, you have very good ideas for a healthier life. Wondering if you could add some videos about gardening (herbs, veggies, flowers)? I would love to see your garden too, if you could show it. I don't have kids yet but I'm learning a lot from you. Have a nice day and thank you.
Mixing herbs in your salad is such a genius idea! I need to try that TOMORROW! Homemade dressing is the best; you can totally taste a difference! Your hardboiled eggs look perfectly cooked; do you cook them in the pressure cooker? I love how fresh all your meals look! PS--- I love your vintage Corelle looking plate at the last meal. :)
Please your an expert at lunches. I grew up serving lunches with family deli. Hey with chicken salad, try chop up apples and walnuts next time. Everyone loves that lunch meal. My guy comes home for lunch also. Breaks up his day.
I have to tell you how much I’ve been enjoying all of you “what we eat” and recipe videos. I have a host of GI issues, which is really disappointing for a woman like me who loves to cook food full of flavor and used to do that with spices. Watching all of these videos gives me hope - started up my sourdough starter last year and have LOVED the yummy foods we’ve been able to have that are actually good for my stomach. They’re even 19-month-old approved.😊 You’re giving me hope that cooking simply doesn’t mean you’re eating bland, boring food. Can’t wait to try all of your other ferments to try and get my stomach back to normal!
Loved this! You have got to do a video on how you garden now! I would love to see that since we are moving soon and will Be starting our very first garden 😁
I have reduced my meat and cheese consumption. So we eat more beans, quinoa, tofu, and other vegetarian options. Loooove soups! So easy and depending on the soup, it doesn’t take long, especially if you have stock on hand. I like to freeze extra stock for fast soups.
A tip...bite sized fruits and veg with bite sized meat and cheese...some pretzels or tortilla chips. All jumbled up on a platter in the middle of the table with toothpicks as silverware....kids love this! Its great as a picnic or poolside or on a field trip. Just bite sized balanced platter of your family's fav foods....nutritional balance...color balance. Enjoy!
I'm veggie and gluten free, but this still gave me some amazing Ideas! If I'm doing packable lunches, I tend to use a couple of clip-lock containers and do an "all in one" meal like Chilli with rice or a homemade curry (I make the sauce base myself and freeze it in batches!) or some more inventive sandwiches (Goats cheese, caramelised onion and mushroom is a good one, as is Chilli Jam, brie and rocket!) . I've just discovered the wonders of wax-cloth, so I can wrap my sandwiches without them sweating now!
I loved this, as well as your breakfast and dinner videos. I cook just like you 🙂. Use those leftovers... especially the roasted chicken and bone broth!! A couple suggestions for lunches that are go-to’s for us: tuna salad (with crackers or on a sandwich), “continental lunches” like yours but some alternative options would be peppers, cucumbers, celery, cherry tomatoes, olives, hummus for the veggies or with crackers/chips, cheese, beef sticks or jerky, turkey pepperoni, celery or apple with peanut butter (or whatever nut/seed butter your family eats), “trail mix” with dried fruit and any nuts you can tolerate or pumpkin and sunflower seeds. My son has allergies to eggs and some tree nuts, so I thought I’d throw some ideas out there for those of us who need more options! Love your cooking videos! Can’t wait to try your sourdough biscuit recipe 🙂
I also love Mexican food. I love Mexican salad. It's my version of the last dish in your video. I throw chicken breasts or thighs from the freezer into my InstantPot along with a jar of salsa (you may need more than one if you're making a full pot, but I'm just meal prepping for me for a few days at a time) then set it to Poultry for 15 minutes. Naturally release the meat and shred. In the meantime I shred greenleaf lettuce, make a quick veggie sauté or roast - julienned bell peppers and onions, make guacamole and chop cilantro. Then when I'm ready to eat, I just put it all together in a plate and enjoy. I'm dairy free, but cheese does go well on this if you like that. You can also add rice and/or beans to bulk it up. The salsa the chicken was cooked in helps dress the salad too. For what I don't finish, I either portion jar salad style or pack in bulk by ingredient and plate as needed.
Hey Lisa, another good lunch idea to go with your tortillas would be turkey (not sure if you do lunch meat or not so you could sub different meat like leftover chicken) with a basil mayo. It’s mayo (in a food processor) with basil from the garden, garlic powder, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and some salt and pepper and you spread that on the tortilla with lettuce, turkey, bacon slices, tomato and avocado and it is super delicious. It’s another one that can be eaten cold too. The basil mayo just makes it sing. You could switch it up with some purple cabbage and grated carrot or basically do your chicken salad recipe on a tortilla with lettuce instead of an English muffin if you wanted. Just some ideas.
Love your ideas! My kids are still little so I often just make a large breakfast and dinner, but they only have a snack for "lunch". If I'm hungry I'll usually just eat dinner leftovers.
I LOVE your meals videos! It's wonderful to see how easy it can be to put together wholesome meals that also look very economical. I make homemade ranch but I guess I tend to make it a little complicated. Mayo and a bit of heavy cream? Easy!
Thanks for the great ideas! Most often we eat leftovers, or I try out new recipes, or I make things my husband doesn't care for like grilled cheese and tomato soup, or my son's favorite homemade macaroni and cheese. I make easy homemade cheese pizza and carrot sticks with homemade ranch, cold sandwiches (pb, chicken salad, egg salad, tuna) or hot sandwiches which are toasted in the oven (bread, meat and cheese) before adding condements and veggies. Fish patties, avocado and salad greens. A self-crusting quiche. Sometimes bean burritos are easy to whip up if I've made a batch of pinto beans. Or fried eggs and biscuits with apple slices or sauteed green beans if I need something quick and don't have anything left in the fridge.
I just used our leftover grilled chicken from two nights ago and our leftover spaghetti sauce from last night and I baked chicken Parmesan for lunch today. It was so yummy!
Jesus is Lord, that salad looks so good! I'm definitely making that but with Romaine or Iceberg Lettuce for a low oxalate version. You're incredible and a blessing to your family!
Shnetzils, falafel, vegie omlet, roasted chicken wing, homemade beafburgers, kabab with tahini (😋), stuffed potatos in cooked yugort saus (give it a try ) we have lots and lots of traditional recipies that you never heard of it ❤️
Love the honey mustard wrap! Don't know why I didn't think of making my own dressing, duh. Also, love the snippets of your garden. Would you do a video about it? Like what you put in it, etc.?
I'm watching this video, its 10 pm. Getting hungry, all the food ideas looks so delicious...... Yummmmmmmmy!, I honestly stopped the video and headed to the kitchen. Took out some turkey and cheese slices, rolled 3 of them up and had a quick late night snack. Now I'm back getting some more ideas from your video to make my weekly meal planning before going shopping for groceries tomorrow. Thanks for so many great dishes!
Being a mom in a growing family, I am definitely loving and binge-watching your videos lately! What do you do during the postpartum craziness? Expecting #2 in August.
I actually feel pretty great postpartum. Its the first trimester that does me in! After having the baby, I try to lay around for 2 weeks and then its life as usual. :)
I love your channel! I just had my first baby and I have been binge watching your videos while she naps! :-) Also, the guacamole probably does not last long in your house, but if you keep the avocado pits in the guacamole, it keeps the avocado from turning brown even if you store it in the fridge for a day or two!
I’ve your channel! I also feel the same way about meal planning like you mentioned on your other video. This makes it seem so easy! Another lunch I send with my kids is organic peanut butter with carrot sticks or chips to dip in. Homemade muffins. And raisins
those look great! I homeschool as well so that would be awesome to make, it looks super easy. I am a vegetarian but my kiddos are not so I could do these things for them and it looks like it can be done pretty fast. I have made pita pizzas before but that is not as fancy as these recipes.
I love to "wing it" on most recipes but I'm intimated by making my own dressing. I would love to have the recipe when you make it next time. I would like to start making my own so I know what's actually in it! Love these ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I am so impressed with the level of healthy food your kids will eat. I feel like I have majorly failed in this area...we don't eat terribly, but no where near how healthy you do and I feel like it is almost impossible to change now as my kids would not likely touch the healthy stuff. :(
I bet they can be slowly transitioned. My kids do pick around some things. They don't eat everything on the menu all the time. My older girls pretty much do, but I find a pile of onions on my boys plates. Haha. I just don't make them anything special.
I make stews, soups, curries, and slow cooker meals and freeze them. My husband heats them up each morning, and packs them in a stainless steel container, wrapped in fabric every day for lunch, and the meals are still warm by the time he eats them
In an ideal week, I try to make supper big enough to have leftovers for lunch, but it's sometimes hard to make that much food at a time for 13 people plus extra 😂 so we do often end up with sandwiches or nachos for lunches around here... 😊
Love to watch your videos so easy and simple :) I need to work on salad dressings and healthy dip options would you do a video on this and storage please x
I shot myself in the foot by catering to my kids tastes... now they are so picky I can’t get them to eat this kind of yummy food! I haven’t given up- still introducing things slowly. Next step is the sourdough starter!! 🤗
What kind of herbs can you put in the chicken salad? I see parsley... is that basil as well? Would rosemary taste good in there? Thank you so much for all your videos!!! I appreciate you!!!
I noticed you dont use much seasoning (ie chili powder, cumin, etc) in your recipes. I really appreciate it because it simplifies things immensely and these all look like they have tons of flavor! Do you avoid them intentionally?
Your way of throwing ingredients together reminds me of my grandma, when my brother and I were young we used to spend summers with my grandparents in the country and this was how she cooked, fast, simple, nutritious and really tasty! They didn't have time for fancy meals, the farm life is pretty busy;)
I have learned to do the same simply because I can't waste time on planning, food preparation and fussing;)

I LOVE your style of cooking, Lisa. Simple and wholesome meals that look just delicious!
Lime and avocado trees seems like something your family will have.

OMG your meal preparations are so healthy and good looking. You are so talented with running a healthy and wholesome home!!!
Can you make a soup video someday, where you show us a few different soup ideas?
That sounds like a great fall video!
try cilantro on your veggie soups... this herb helps to get out of the system metals like mercury.. and twist the flavor on food..
Oatcakes, tahini sauce, chopped apple or dried apricots, small glass container of yogurt plain or snazzed with honey/ fruit, or made savory garlic/ dill/ salt

I’m pregnant with baby #4 and have been finding myself in a huge lunch rut lately. These are great ideas and sound so yummy! We are home everyday too because we homeschool, so thanks for some warm lunch ideas as well!
We also eat hot lunch (dinner type) then just something small for dinner.

We love our Corelle. 😊I just made the hard boiled eggs on the stove. I like to cook them only 6 or 7 minutes, so they don't get overly cooked.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're so inspirational! Thanks for the great ideas!
Lisa I love your cooking style of throwing stuff together and man it looks so delish! That’s totally MY style! Love it! 👍
Please your an expert at lunches. I grew up serving lunches with family deli. Hey with chicken salad, try chop up apples and walnuts next time. Everyone loves that lunch meal. My guy comes home for lunch also. Breaks up his day.
Pitas stuffed with cole slaw, green pepper + mayo ... OR ... peanut butter & honey. Whatever you like best can be packed into a Pita.

Could i just come have food at your house? Such yummy fresh foods!!! The salad made me crave a salad (I'm almost 10wks pregnant) so yummy looking!!
Loved this! You have got to do a video on how you garden now! I would love to see that since we are moving soon and will
Be starting our very first garden 😁
I love watching you cook! You seem very no frills, just throw some shit together and make it tasty.
Haha. Yep! :)
I was thinking the same thing. I love how you don't worry about rinsing your cutting board or anything, just mix it all and go!!
Jaime Rinehart | rinsing the cutting board? During cutting different vegetables or cooked meats? Do people rinse in between?
LOVE THIS COMMENT!!
I have reduced my meat and cheese consumption. So we eat more beans, quinoa, tofu, and other vegetarian options. Loooove soups! So easy and depending on the soup, it doesn’t take long, especially if you have stock on hand. I like to freeze extra stock for fast soups.
Soup people too! 😊
If you eat organic, soups are super economical + nourishing....we love to add miso
Hartley - I need to try this! You have a specific recipe?
I buy organic miso paste and whisk in 1 tablespoon per bowl of soup. Easy peasy 😊
Please make a garden video!!
Did I see grass clippings as mulch? Don't you get grass growth in the garden?
These lunches look absolutely delicious! 🤩
Enjoy!
Lucky family to have you cooking like this for them!!!!
Aww thanks Loretta!
Oooh your ideas sound delicious!
Sometimes is wish RUclips have the love button...
Aww thanks!!
Hey Lisa, another good lunch idea to go with your tortillas would be turkey (not sure if you do lunch meat or not so you could sub different meat like leftover chicken) with a basil mayo. Sounds soo tasty!
Love your subway tiles and greenery! Soo beautiful!
How do you get your kids to eat such adventurous foods? Wow!!! Looks delicious!
That is an awesome spread for the week! I love that quite everything is made from stratch!
would loooove a video on healthy and organic school lunches!
Your channel is so peaceful and I love it! :) Thanks for sharing!

All sound delicious!!
Farmhouse on Boone i like how you cook in a healthy way and i difintly learn from you alot❤️
Thanks for yummy ideas!! I appreciate the typed out "recipes" in the description, too. 👍❤️
Great ideas Lisa. You're ingredients are all things my hubby and I love. Thanks ♥️🤗
Love the honey mustard wrap! Don't know why I didn't think of making my own dressing, duh. Also, love the snippets of your garden. Would you do a video about it? Like what you put in it, etc.?

Your chicken salad looks AMAZING!! YUM!
We love to eat at home and I always give my husband home made lunch!!!
Those looked fantastic. Simple and delicious.

I love to "wing it" on most recipes but I'm intimated by making my own dressing. I would love to have the recipe when you make it next time. I would like to start making my own so I know what's actually in it! Love these ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Lisa for more inspiring recipes that are good for us 💕
Oh my goodness Lisa! That is HUGE inspiration! Thank you so much girl! LOVE IT XOXO :)
Your food is always sooooo yummy! Like you, I do easy and have fun being creative and throwing things together. Thanks for sharing! 💛🌻
Yum! I want to eat lunch at YOUR house.
Your food looks soooooooo delicious thankyou
Omg you are amazing.
You motivate to change our way of eating.
Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Chickpea/garbanzo bean salad veggie wraps and a big salad topped with quinoa and a simple guacamole are my favorite lunches right now!
ArmindaHeart that sounds yummy. going to try your lunches along with lisas.
Those looked amazing, thanks for sharing 😊 I love watching your videos, they are so beautifully made ❤
Your youtube channel is my favourite. You are down-to-earth, and you don't come across like you want to be a youtube, arrogant celebrity.
I make stews, soups, curries, and slow cooker meals and freeze them. My husband heats them up each morning, and packs them in a stainless steel container, wrapped in fabric every day for lunch, and the meals are still warm by the time he eats them
Oh wow! Thats great the containers keep it all warm.
Wow! super easy, super quick and some can be easily made with just veggies. ~ Thanks
Yes! Totally could be adapted to a vegetarian lifestyle.
Love this!! I hope you keep doing these meal idea videos. They are so helpful!!
In an ideal week, I try to make supper big enough to have leftovers for lunch, but it's sometimes hard to make that much food at a time for 13 people plus extra 😂 so we do often end up with sandwiches or nachos for lunches around here... 😊
Those are great ideas thanks!
Now that is some yummy lunches, Can"t wait to try some. Are you coming out with a cook book, because I'm Going to buy one for sure.
My book will have some recipes! It will also have DIYs for an all natural home. :)
debora mitchell Me too! I love this kind of cooking! I’m very selective when purchasing anything, but I can’t wait to purchase this book!!! 😊
Such great ideas! What about a video on how to roast a chicken? I would love to learn how!
I actually have that all written out and photographed for my book! 😊
I’d come home every day for lunch too! ❤️
You are amazing!
Great tips! They look delicious. Thanks Lisa
Oh I bet they will like the sourdough bread stuff! They can be transitioned into healthier eating. :)
I made the chicken sandwiches and my husband LOVED them as well! Must be a man thing. Ha! Thank you for always inspiring me. God bless ♡♡
Must be!
What kind of herbs can you put in the chicken salad? I see parsley... is that basil as well? Would rosemary taste good in there? Thank you so much for all your videos!!! I appreciate you!!!
Would love to see a garden video!!
Just filmed one last night! :)
Yum! It is too early to eat. But now I’m starving. Lol
Yum! I wished I lived closer-I want to come to your house for lunch 😃
You are my spirit animal...
Love everything on your blog can you do the print recipe on the top corner?
I noticed you dont use much seasoning (ie chili powder, cumin, etc) in your recipes. I really appreciate it because it simplifies things immensely and these all look like they have tons of flavor! Do you avoid them intentionally?
Sounds great
Everything looks so good!
