Your videos have been such a comfort this year as I go through breast cancer treatments. Sometimes I just watch while I’m recovering, sometimes I feel well enough to do some sewing project, sitting on the lime green sofa listening to you chat away. I have been inspired to do my own EPP inch hexagons quilt and take my hexagon sewing to my chemo sessions each week as I can be there for up to 5 hours sometimes.

About 20 years ago I experienced rug hooking each week going to Gladys Hotchkiss’ home along with other older ladies to be instructed in the art of painting with wool. She taught us how to dye wool in gradient colors and how to choose just the right scrap from an old shrunken coat for the center of a flower. Hooking! I dabbled in it some years back, made a small rug. We had a neighbor when I was a child who made gorgeous, floral carpets. So beautiful. Your Keith Haring inspired mat reminds me of when I used to run a knitting group at the LGBT Center in Manhattan. There was a bathroom on the 2nd floor in which Keith had covered every inch of the walls with a libidinous (shall we say) mural. It was quite an eyeful. At some point after his death the bathroom was converted into another meeting room and our knitting group was sometimes assigned to this room. So there we were, a mix of men and women with our needles and yarn surrounded by Keith's fantastic mural! I believe there are pics somewhere on the web, but be forewarned, it's graphic. I love Rug hooking and have a Cheticamp frame I work on. Famous Canadian Cheticamp, is a place I. Eastern Canada which became famous for the Rugs hooked there. A great meditative craft! Punch needle is really fun too!
I'm so happy to have this come up in my feed. I've just found a used Kaffe Fassett book showing rag rugs. He didn’t use a frame. I'm going to try that way first. I like the idea to work that way, plus I don't want to get a frame if I don't need it. He used a latch hook too.
Thanks for demonstrating this technique. I have a kit. All the strips are pre-cut. I put it in a frame and couldn't figure out how to situate the frame so I could balance everything and still hook. Many artists making videos with this technique have expensive, free standing frames with legs. But I didn't want to invest in something so expensive for a first try. I'm going to try your method... Wish me luck! 💖🌞🌵😷

Thank you for being so inspirational! ❤
Hi Douglas, how's your day going with you?
So clever fun to see
Haven’t hooked in awhile so I went and pulled out in unfinished piece to play around. Took a few tries to keep it from twisting but am going to finish it. I consider my self a newbie but it’s fun to do.
Merry Christmas
It is always a pleasure watching and learning the various arts you share with us, plus the cup of tea that waits….
Kate I think weird means not boring. Love it.
I love the plate with the food on it
I just watched your video from 3 years ago when you were putting a binding on the flying goose quilt. You asked where I heard of you. I had a random video from Arne and Carlos pop up on my television and they were talking about you and they were sitting on your lime green couch. That was 2 weeks ago. I have been watching you ever since. Thank you for brightening my day. Your videos have come into my life just when i needed them. Thank you. You might enjoy watching "My sewing room"
how lovely! xxx welcome
Love this. I did a project like this years ago, it really was a lot of fun.
Love your rugs. I have a rug hooking frame, some panels, some wool, and a hook. I’ve made one but haven’t gone back to it. I should do that. I was about to get rid of my stuff since I haven’t touched it in so long. Now I think I can’t. 😂😂 you inspire me. I enjoy your show so much. Thanks.
If you sew them together, you will have a large rug. I love your show, you make me feel at ease and at home. Thank you! ❤
You are so good at explaining! I enjoy your videos so much. They always inspire me to do something...
I LOVE your designs! I'm a huge fan of abstract designs that are really ALL about the colour!!! The simplicity means we can really focus on those bright and rich colours - perfect for the sort of wintry and blowy weather we've had recently. Can't wait to see these hanging on your wall - a set of these lovely little abstract pieces will look AMAZING together!!!! Thank you, as always, for sharing your fun. xxx
Oh dear! Now I have to buy ANOTHER set of craft supplies.
What a simple and fun art! You are just brilliant! Take care Kate😊
Hi Nancy, how's your day going with you?
Love this, very cool and quirky!
You’d like Diana on Ribbon Candy Hooking as it’s about rug hooking. Jen x😊
Such a nice visit♥️
Thanks for demonstrating this technique. I have a kit. All the strips are pre-cut. I put it in a frame and couldn't figure out how to situate the frame so I could balance everything and still hook. Many artists making videos with this technique have expensive, free standing frames with legs. But I didn't want to invest in something so expensive for a first try. I'm going to try your method... Wish me luck! 💖🌞🌵😷
I love all the things you do. You inspired me with your hexie quilt. I have made two of them and started my little sister doing hers. Thank you for being there for me and others.
Ah, yes, that quilt is beautiful! And hexie quilting is how I found Kate! I was looking up how to do it for starters, and Kate's channel 💕was "recommended" by Google.
@@wendywilson1736 My sister wanted to do something easy but pretty as her first project in quilting. I have been quilting for years and she wanted to learn. My most ambitious quilt was the Grandmothers Flower Garden in queen size all done by hand which she loved. I just gave it to her and now she is making one of her own. She loves the hand piecing and will be hand quilting as I did. My little sister never did quilts. She is in her sixties. I love the fact that she wants to have this to work on since she retired. I'm going to be 79 years old.
Thx kate. Love love the colours and randomness. You go❤❤
Very beautiful mats. Love your video👍🍁🌺☘🌻🌷🌳
I love the weirdness. Looks soothing, and carefree. Very cool.
Lynn here on Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, Love it Kate , I used to make those pegged rugs , but bought a kit , it got Very expensive, don't know why I didn't use the old stuff , my mum and Granny did , those rugs lasted years and years , it's a Fantastic craft , when you think about it our granny's knew a thing or two about recycling with out trying , before it was even a thing 😂😂😂, Take Care Kate XX
I ❤ all of these, and the stories behind them. Thank you so much for sharing, Kate 💚
Hi Heather, how's your day going with you?
Thanks Kate ❤
The way you hold your frame against the table is exactly how I use my rigid heddle looms. I also like weird, especially your nine piece weird cacti collection.
Very beautiful work xx love rug making xx I do rag rugs xx 😘 I did it when I lived in Bridlington xx in a lady’s group xx
Hi, Kate! Thank you for making room on your lime green coach for me ❤. I'm not a quilter, however, I love watching your quilting videos. I do knit and spin yarn and love those videos you have made as well. I did make a cat hooked rug and enjoyed my small project.
Thank you for sharing this ☺️
You are the most interesting person. I would really enjoy being your neighbor so that I could visit and learn how you do all your interesting projects. You are a true treasure❤
