seriously! I was mad confused the first time it happened. Haha And now when Stocke goes "I need to carefully consider" I go, "yeah! Let's think about this"
The slow start that you are negative about, thats called world building. I don't see it as a negative point because I know that I can expect a lot of dialogue in a jrpgs, for me a jrpgs like reading a book, a lot of text doesn't bother me if it is good dialogue, Wich it is in this game.
i liked the opening in this gave, it really pulled me in and kept me interested. if this guy didn't like the opening in this game i bet he'd really hate the opening in strange journey. just started playing strange journey and that one really started to pull me in too. those long intros can be tedious, especially on repeat playthroughs, but you feel more invested when you do start playing.
But also it's not even actually long. The prologue takes about an hour and is filled with interesting mechanics and events, both story and gameplay wise
I bought this game on a whim. Ive been more or less over the 3DS for a couple years now. I usually only buy 3DS games when it's something that seriously calls me, like FE Echoes, but I bought this game because I saw that it came with an art book. So I went for it, and I haven't regretted picking this up.
So I’ve been searching for this game in every EB Games and JB Hifi in Melbourne and Brisbane that I can get to and haven’t founds it once. A guy at EB said they got no preorders so they didn’t get any copies for the store. I will get my hands on it somehow!
We got a really small amount of copies in Australia, it wasn't projected to sell a whole lot (being such a niche title). You're best bet is to buy one online, EB Games have them in stock on the website!
Rev AK I haven't played the original, but after finding out what the changes were, I agree. There are several new options in this game, and it feels more like a complete ending when you complete Nemesia's quests.
Good game and I'm playing on easy mode myself, but I know where you're coming from. Even though I like it i have a problem with the time travel. And that's with big story moments seem watered down since you go back and change them from a terrible event to a good one. I haven't completed it yet, but from what I've seen so far it feels that way. I forgot what chapter I was on, but I've been going at it a lot more than I did on the DS. The voice acting helps out a lot though in the cut scenes compared to the DS version.
Yeah I just finished this remake and it was really good for me!! A little cheesy with the story, though it has good writing! Music while sparce is fantastic!!! THough the end of the plot was very predictable sadly, however the battle system is what I love, it's an absolute gem to play!! if I were to give it a score I'd give it a solid 8/10. It's a good ass JRPG. As for favourite time travel stories- for games it's chrono trigger for sure and I do like Steins gate quite a bit from an anime POV.
Well my reason for not getting this is because of two reasons, one I am saving money right now and two I am way to busy with Etrian Odyssey V Beyond The Myth and while it sounds like the fifth in a series the story doesn’t feel like one at all since if it is the fifth it’s not bringing anything over from the others that I can see.
Just Finished the game and I enjoyed it. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I won't say to a 9 cause the gameplay didn't psyche me up enough to go back after I was done studying. Fans of the original r salty with the new artwork but I can understand. After I finish Radiant Historia, I watched its opening again and I did feel a bit regret comparing it old art style with its new one. Still a solid game
I don't know. It certainly is a slow run, but I enjoy the interactions between the characters and the slow reveal, though obvious, kept in line with Stocke's character. He's not one to trust blindly, so he needs proof first. Afterwards it is revealed later on what he does in a timeline will affect another time line and then you're free to explore and make the most of each timeline. Finally the last reveal in the demo is the fact someone is actually tempering with the timelines. Perhaps that could have been introduced earlier, but I thought it was well-paced. That said, perhaps they could have shorten it. Took me 8 hours to reach the end of both the standard and alternate history paths the demo offers. On one side, a long demo gives a lot of time to consider getting it and, well, I'm sold and will be buying it today full price. On the other-hand, it did feel like it shouldn't have took so long either. Eh, I don't know. Give or take I enjoyed it more than it bothered me. Nemesia is a welcome addition, but thank god I looked up perfect and append mode. Perfect is seriously the best way to go if you don't want the quests to feel like a drag. Finally what also boosted my enjoyment was the fact I played it on the hardest difficulty. I love a good challenge! Even if some enemy comps are just bullshit. One red thief, three swordsman up front, and two bowmen... Fuck! And no initiative to boot... So much for early strikes. Oh and duck that one boat in that side quest. Stampedes and kills my entire comp in a single turn. I'm lvl 19 for god sake!
Meh, i don't see why it should be shorter. It's really not a flaw, it's just a game being longer than others. And it's not even that uncommon with rpgs, either
I mean not really. He completely lied about the opening to make it seem worse than it actually is, in actuality it takes about an hour and in that hour you're introduced to the gameplay, story, and time travel mechanic, not to mention already have the opportunity to fight some pretty though enemies for a prologue, explore the area to get treasures and are introduced to one of the villains. The scenes last at most ten minutes, and even that's a stretch. For example, in the opening you have 10 minutes of conversations to establish the characters and then that's it aside from two/three scenes that take less than five minutes and that are essential for the plot, one of which gives you the power to time travel not even an hour into the game
I agree with his review for the most part. Dragon Quest 7 is a lot like this. Both games take a few hours before you can actually get into the main gameplay, but once you get going, both games are so worth it. If you decide to play it, I recommend you start playing with the integrated story right away. You'll still have the original story and won't have to wait until the end of the game to play the new storyline. The only new story is everything that revolves around the character Nemesia. Everything else is the original story. It is worth playing Nemesia's storyline from the beginning because of the special items and gold that you get from playing those sidequests. I made the mistake of choosing the other game option, and couldn't get Nemesia until I beat the game. By that time, I was way too overleveled to enjoy her sidequests as much, so I started a new file with her story in it from the beginning.
I love it when the game kinda lectures you when you choose wrong and get everyone killed. Best game overs ever.

I definitely agree with that there's oodles of world building in radiant historia and it's great

PMD Explorers of Sky
cabbage scented candle that's a great one
Ocarina of Time
When this game explained its time travel my brain broke...
WOOOO! THANKS FOR REVIEWING MY FAVORITE JRPG OF 2018, so far
I really needed this review, and you answered it all. Thank you!

you ever played a jrpg? its pretty much par for the course when you start one of these games.
No... it really isn't, especially not on the 3DS.
@@JRPGGaming i mean you literally lied lmao
It’s so hard trying to play both radiant historia and ni no kuni 2...
ok, you convinced me! I'm gonna pick this up in the near future!
Definitely an improvement over the original.

Chrono Trigger.

the protagonist this time is not attracted to his mom but his sister. same difference
Damn its THAT good eh??
If you can bust through the slow start, it's one of the best games on the 3DS imo :)
i'd like the game =)

Playing the game myself, and im guessing you're talking about the boar for the chef's quest, it caught me so off guard by how hard that boar hit..
Meh, i don't see why it should be shorter.
It's really not a flaw, it's just a game being longer than others. And it's not even that uncommon with rpgs, either
Downloading it now! also stop talking to yourself is creepy
so it's a terrible experience :3
Akemi Homura did you watch the video...? He said apart from the slow beginning its essentially perfect :P
yes and that was what my conclusion as to what he was saying was :3

I have the demo, but after this review I'm gonna delete it.
core ninsin95 so i'm guessing that you only listened to like not even half the video
Blaze knight I watched a minute or two.
core ninsin95 then watch the whole video
You're doing yourself a big disservice by doing that. One of the most unknown RPGs of our time.
