There’s so many don’t skip kind of games on the 3ds now that everybody is skipping because of the switch. 3ds probably had its best year last year with games like FE Echoes, Pokémon, and Metroid it’s such a shame so many are getting overlooked.
Can confirm that Radiant Historia is fantastic. It's up there with The World Ends With You for Best Nintendo DS RPG (even though they are entirely different, which makes it even better). I have the remake, but I did play the original and still remember it quite vividly. I'll play the remake when a replay is on the cards.
It feels so good to see Radiant Historia getting the praise and respect that it deserves. For the longest time this one was overlooked, and it didn't help that the initial print run was absolutely tiny.
YO! I'm currently playing it (DS version). I'll say this, those who like dramas with political intrigue AND Time Travel, holy smokes this game is for you. It's far more mature than most JRPGs and takes it's plot seriously.
I'm going to give this game a shot based on what you said. Mature JRPGs with a serious plot are hard to find. Plus you mentioned political intrigue which brings some of my favorites like FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Tactics Ogre to mind. So if it's anything like those then I'm all in. Thanks for the recommendation!
Is it completely free from weird sexist Japanese stuff? As in, underage barely clothed girls, "tsundere anime behaviour" or stuff like that? Because it sounds great but I can't stand those tropes.
kenshokram Certainly not. Most Atlus game (excluding recent Personas and Catherine) don't delve in that stuff. Plus the game takes for more inspiration from western war stories, with magic and time travel thrown in. You'll be good.
I am so happy to see a don't skip of this! Radiant Historia is my personal favorite rpg of all time, and I was very happy with the remake. Neither game is perfect, and the remake does improve some things but also make a few things worse in my opinion. Either way you play, though, there is so much good that this game has to offer! I'm happy to see ANYTHING about it on EZA, and I hope now more people will get to experience it as well, as it always had terrible timing for its release, both for the original and its remake.
Happy to see this game receiving your attention, allies! Not only it had a very engaging and unique battle mechanics, but the story is also incredibly deep and rewarding. The ending is superb.
Played the demo not too long ago, and I was really digging it. Ben gave me all the reassurance I need that this’ll be worthy of my time after I’m through with DQ8.
Well you’ve convinced me I’m buying it right now off the eshop I looks like fun especially with the multiple timelines reminds me of the zero escape series I’d love a don’t skip on the white knight chronicles series it’s so underrated even with its many faults
This game is fantastic, I played the DS version a couple of years back and would love to play the remake. So many games at the moment so it's on the backburner but I also highly recommend it, what an awesome JRPG that is so deep.
afromarco005 The game is not bad but relies too much on sidequests and kingdombuilding. The world is very small and kinda empty. DQ 11 is so much better real masterpiece.
I really enjoyed seeing the base game stuff. I have yet to finish the extra content, which so far doesn't seem too substantial, but for someone who never played the original game this was all a great new experience. I do have to say, it didn't necessarily feel like many things in the game blew me away (and the story took a few cliches I was hoping against) but on the other hand it was a solid ride all the way through. I guess that's pretty similar to how I felt about 7th Dragon III.
This game was already great back when it came out on the DS. I haven't played this version, but an improved version can only be better. Only real complain I think I've heard is with regards to some of the redone art.
I wanted to get this game when it first came out (the 3DS version), but I had too many JRPG's I was working on at the time. Now I've either beaten them or have mostly given up. So now I'm tempted to get it, but it's expensive and I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to another time sucking JRPG on the 3DS. Dang this indecisiveness! And it's probably not going to get any cheaper.
@@herbertortiz9159 I ended up buying it. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on sinking some serious time into the game over the upcoming holiday.
A 40 second intro to what don't skip is is a little much. Maybe condense it down to two quick lines. That said, the episode was great and I hope to see more. This is one of my favorite JRPGs I have ever played
I would agree that Brandon is the best suited for VO work on videos however I think Barry and I were just trying to say it would be a fun thing to at least try. Personally I feel like this kind of lighthearted review like series could benefit from a fun experiment of mixing it up.
+Spiderman - The Emissary From Hell thanks, I’m well aware it’s different from talking on a podcast. I thought Ben was very competent on his Demo Disc video in March. You can only get the kind of ‘experience’ Jones has from being given the opportunity that something like Don’t Skip provides.
Loyal Patron here, just wanted to chime in. Maybe consider a briefer intro? Clicked to learn about the game, not hear the mission statement of the show 🤷♂️
They got a massive new audience from the fund raiser they recently threw..chill out, Jones said this is a new chapter for eza, and they need to do stuff like that intro to bring new fans up to speed.
I remember playing the original years ago and being disappointed at how linear the game really was, despite the focus on branching timelines. Though in retrospect it was me going in with the wrong expectations.
I have this game but haven't played it yet. This don't skip persuaded me to jump on. I initially thought it was just a final fantasy-type "'A' button to get through the shitty gameplay so you can read more story" game (which I'm not too fond of), but seeing how there are actual tactics to combat draws me in much closer than before.
I played it back on DS and I thought the game was incredible. I'll pass on this one though because honestely the artstyle they used in this version doesn't look as good as the old one unfortunately... I even quite dislike it.
This is exactly what I want from Don't Skip. A look at a game I totally missed that I might actually love. Good stuff!
Funny story. Boguht it on DS after years of having it on my radar. A month later Perfect Chronology was announced. RIP me
There’s so many don’t skip kind of games on the 3ds now that everybody is skipping because of the switch. 3ds probably had its best year last year with games like FE Echoes, Pokémon, and Metroid it’s such a shame so many are getting overlooked.
mytravis13 around 70 million people own 3ds. Im sure these great games are getting played by a good amount of people.
pryt86 I sure hope so!
mytravis13 me too
My switch collects dust. The 3DS just has TOO MANY amazing jrpgs and plenty of Atlus games :)

I'm absolutely loving this game. Thanks for spotlighting it

You'll be good.
BLACKx114 Yasumi Matsuno's work is definitely seemed an inspiration here. From the tone and setting, to mechanics.
I missed "Don't Skip" so much! Thanks for bringing it back.
one of the most criminally underrated games of all time
This game was rad. happy I got a chance to play it!
Great format, I'm bound to check out ALL of these! Thank you for the great content!
This game never comes up in anyone’s top tens that I’ve seen yet it looks and sounds amazing
It’s easily the best original DS JRPG if you don’t count Chrono Trigger.
@@herbertortiz9159 I’m gonna buy it in January on the eshop for my 3ds
I'm always looking forward to Don't Skip. These recommendations are cool to have.
WTF!? Where has this game been! This looks amazing, i play tons of jrpg but i have never seen or heard about this till now
Oh noo is this only in DS?
Meldy 1983 3ds
One of my favorite games of all time, thanks for spreading the word so more people can play it!
Just finished it .. great game

THIS GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME. mid 90s snes feel. loved it.
Played the demo not too long ago, and I was really digging it. Ben gave me all the reassurance I need that this’ll be worthy of my time after I’m through with DQ8.
I'm playing it in these days, 30 hours in now and it's truly great, storywise and in combat mechanics
I wouldnt have skipped if they made more than five physical PAL copies total.
Love this format! Been planning to get this game for some time now. :)
The secondary market prices on this game are INSANE - now I gotta buy it digitally (I know, it’s my fault for sleeping on it, but still)
This has been on the list for years. I haven't done it any justice
Loved the game on DS. Easily one of the best JRPG ever, and I've played a lot.
Well you’ve convinced me I’m buying it right now off the eshop I looks like fun especially with the multiple timelines reminds me of the zero escape series
I’d love a don’t skip on the white knight chronicles series it’s so underrated even with its many faults
Zero Escape! ❤️
Love the intro for this video! Nice touch
When a solid 3ds emulator is available its going to be a good time.
This game is fantastic, I played the DS version a couple of years back and would love to play the remake. So many games at the moment so it's on the backburner but I also highly recommend it, what an awesome JRPG that is so deep.
100 times better than ni no kuni 2 iam not joking.
Ni No Kuni 2 is the physical embodiment of disappointment.
mana beast should I not get ni no kuni 2?
Ni no kuni 2 is not terrible but man Radiant Historia is at least on the top 20 of best jrpgs
Lmaooooooo
afromarco005 The game is not bad but relies too much on sidequests and kingdombuilding.
The world is very small and kinda empty. DQ 11 is so much better real masterpiece.
I personal favorite of mine...that I've never finished. I got the 3ds one now so I think it's time I correct this! Great video guys!
You guys rock! I actually bought this game and have it on the shelf ready to “Don’t Skip” it when God of War then Dark Souls Remaster is over.
Still playing, still great, still waiting a review for The Alliance Alive.
This show is a good ide, make sure it's obscure games that basically have not gotten any cover in normal games media sites
Wow, really good video/ series!
I really enjoyed seeing the base game stuff. I have yet to finish the extra content, which so far doesn't seem too substantial, but for someone who never played the original game this was all a great new experience.

Man I miss this. They don't make jRPG's like they used to. The coziness here is just jolly.
Don't Skip: Tokyo Mirage Sessions
Kaslo 25 this please
Never have existed a more skippable game. Let's not encourage Atlus to go down that path, shall we?
It would be great if it had a Switch port
Loved this game on DS, don't skip it.
Any idea if Ben is still planning on a Xenoblade 2 full playthrough in the future?
Radiant Historia was, by far, my favorite DS game ever. So glad to see this getting the love it deserves.
Definitely, like this idea
great series!!
When Don't Skip is 7 mins and is as long and detailed as a real review... Loved it.
THIS WAS A REVIEW!!!!
If it was on switch or any other console I might be playing this but 3ds is tough to come back to for me...
This game was already great back when it came out on the DS. I haven't played this version, but an improved version can only be better. Only real complain I think I've heard is with regards to some of the redone art.
i have the ds version
should i buy ?
Man... I love Ben Moore
I really wanted to play this game, but on Switch. I have the DS version, but I don't have a DS :(

It’s definitely worth playing
@@herbertortiz9159 I ended up buying it. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on sinking some serious time into the game over the upcoming holiday.
It's on sale for 10 dollars right now
Dang, thought this said Radiata Stories for a sec. The ultimate don't skip imo.
I have so many RPGs I'm backed up on. Such a good problem to have, but I may not get to this one. v__v
Like this new series
though the soundtrack is a little lacking, its really good but there is like what 27 tracks?
The battle themes in particular sort of make up for it, it’s a smaller soundtrack than say, Bravely Default, but in that similar vein
Just ordered it for probably too much money. W the eshop closing down, it's about time to start collecting 3DS games again.
A 40 second intro to what don't skip is is a little much. Maybe condense it down to two quick lines. That said, the episode was great and I hope to see more. This is one of my favorite JRPGs I have ever played
My favorite RPG on the DS, but it's all I need. Don't care for the Remake.
I would get it but my hands can't handle the 3rds cramps
anyone know who wrote this?
Probably the best RPG on those crappy handheld consoles along with Fire Emblem Awakening.
Don't skip, but rather don't skip the original. I like PC don't get me wrong, but the ending was hmmm, not as bussin
WOOO HELL YEAH
Currently £8 on ds store!
*sigh*
*adds to backlog*
One day...
It would be fun if Don’t Skip was narrated by the writer instead of Jones.
100% yes. I think it would help with the vibe of the show as well to separate these from reviews.
I suppose... As long as we get to hear his sexy voice for the reviews, I wouldn't mind.
It could let this feature stand out even more.
I would agree that Brandon is the best suited for VO work on videos however I think Barry and I were just trying to say it would be a fun thing to at least try. Personally I feel like this kind of lighthearted review like series could benefit from a fun experiment of mixing it up.

I was thinking the same thing. Felt more like a sales pitch than an intro to me.
MaxaMillion711 you're not the only viewer bro. Some people need an actual intro.
They got a massive new audience from the fund raiser they recently threw..chill out, Jones said this is a new chapter for eza, and they need to do stuff like that intro to bring new fans up to speed.
I appreciated the intro into what this series is since I recently came across this channel.
Yeah, sure. Those 40 seconds were PIVOTAL in your life.
Don't Skip: Super Daryl Deluxe
I remember playing the original years ago and being disappointed at how linear the game really was, despite the focus on branching timelines. Though in retrospect it was me going in with the wrong expectations.
I have this game but haven't played it yet. This don't skip persuaded me to jump on.

Don't skip SKY ROGUE
I skipped this because I already have the DS original. No point in having the same game for one platform in my opinion.
Don't Skips should be under 2 minutes. This is a review without a score
I played it back on DS and I thought the game was incredible. I'll pass on this one though because honestely the artstyle they used in this version doesn't look as good as the old one unfortunately... I even quite dislike it.
oh man it looks so goo...
3DS
Fuck.
Ugh! I have to skip until it hopefully gets ported to Switch.
MarutoFighter it won’t get ported
a 2ds is dirt cheap cmon
Hansiger Obba 80$ is still a lot for the hardware you get
MarutoFighter lmao keep waiting
New artwork SUCKS and completely takes away from the experience. I'll keep my DS version
Remake? This is just an enhanced port. Lol
Skipping it
No switch port? Skip for me
I like this series, keep it going please!
