If you're still around 10 years later, can I ask what happened to this bird? I have an older rescue bird in Sydney that looks & sounds VERY similar to this bird, I'm wondering if there's any chance it might be the same bird

Hi there sooky is our lovely pet and he is still with us so unfortunately, the bird that you have is not our Sooky he is turning 14 years old next month and he’s such a joy. I hope that your lorikeet brings you such as much joy because they are truly amazing.

@@nickdimoulas5752 Thank you SO much for the answer & for Sooky, I'm really glad it's not the same bird. My boy appears to have been hand raised in a really loving home, but then somewhere along the line, things went wrong for him & he was branded a "horrible bird" & left in a cage with no attention for years, so I'm glad for Sooky he's still got a happy home :) (my boy is adorable, beautiful personality, I think one of his owners just couldn't handle him for whatever reason & he ended up a bitty bird, but he's not anymore)
I don't know my boy's history & feel like, if I did, I might be able to help him more, that's why I wanted to ask, I really appreciate you answering :) My boy has some variations from your Sooky, but all things that I felt would easily be explained by age. My boy's much fatter (and lazier) & looks/behaves more mature/older, but the colouring looks identical, even down to the yellow feathers in the wings & the "I love you" is his main words, but even the other vocalisations Sooky's making are consistent with what my boy does, if given time to develop between your video & what I have now & my boy was really captivated by watching Sooky too. Isn't it interesting how unrelated birds can end up so similar.
Anyway, thanks again so much for the answer, I thought it was a long shot, but without an answer, I was always going to be wondering, so I really appreciate it :) & I'm really glad for you, your family & Sooky that you all still have each other in your lives bringing so much joy to each other :)) I have the 2 rescues that lived in the same home immediately before me, but in separate cages & yes, they do bring me a lot of joy :) Is sad that mine experienced not being loved for many years though, lots of behavioural & emotional issues because of that, but we're getting better :)

Gorgeous Rainbow, good to see you have him clipped with open widows or you could loose him. I know from experience, these guys fly really fast and easily loose their way back to home.
