I own one, bite is strong and something you urge to correct, but you have to understand the bite, it can carry different meanings, some are mean, some are to climb, and some are to play, Also, you have to look at their pupils 100% of the time, if they contract it can be bad or good, but its up to you as the owner to decide what they are thinking
My Olive Rainbow Lorikeet is named Tango. He stickd his tongue in my ears, nose, mouth and give me beak kisses and remove any skin imperfection from my face. I live in US and paid $1000 for him.
I have lorikeets, they are very social and as far as their cage goes, they know it as a 'safe zone' and their very own territory. It is a grave disrespect to them when it comes to cleaning time, they don't want anyone touching their crib! Sounds OK to me. Good job, Phillipa!!
@Huda Hamid depends on the bird just give him lots of love and kisses. , mine was a baby when I got her and we connected in the pet store , right away wasn’t going to pet store to buy a bird went to go get fish food for my koi fish , saw her and the beautiful colors and the man opened the cage and she climbed on me right away , wouldn’t let go of me so I came home with fish food and a bird and a cage lol and toys for her .. yeah she’s 18 years old now , but she still acts like a baby , if your gonna get one be prepared for many years together some say 30 years some say 20 the way my baby acts she’ll be here another 10 years more she might out live me , 74 here and not in good heath ,, but if you really want a rainbow lorikeet look at videos look up things on the net and read read read about them ,if you decide to get one you WILL love her /him , I can bet on it ! 😁🌈🌈 good luck and happiness
@@Judy-qv8qj that's basically exactly how I'm getting mine he's 3 and a half months I went for fish for my stepsons turtle and there him and his sister were I'm just worried about separating them I can't buy both of them
When i stop at the petrol station on the way home from work there are hundreds of wild ones in the trees . They make a hell of a noise. They bite and scratch when you feed them. I remember as a kid seeing my dads bald head bleeding from where they were sitting on his head fighting over some seed he had
I had a lorikeet for 7 years before she died. She was my best friend and I miss her horribly. They are such social beings, I truly wish I'd had another lorikeet for her. But I do agree with Farmer now...I think it's cruel to keep birds in cages. They are born to fly. It's such an amazing gift....can you imagine having that ability and having your wings clipped? Horrible. I'll never do it again.
VBITES1 I know I have 2 budgies that I feel bad for but I found them abandoned and decided to take them in after they recovered I had a giant bond with the they love me and I love them so I want to set them free butt whenever I do they don’t leave and one time one of them left but as soon as 2 minutes past a giant cockatoo ate the little one so I am very scared letting the other on free
Hey, do not blame yourself! I use to think like that but after I new they are in danger and we can save the specie I am glad I did. I had a ornate lory that was 10. I just lost her. I miss her to death and she use to stay out all the time. She was so happy and had a good life.
Why don't you get one and let it fly around your home. I'm not trying to influence you either way but just a thought. I'd love to see everyone happy. If it had a mate it would be happy.we used to have a peach face lovebird and it loved sitting on my dad's shoulder while he had dinner. It adored him and vice versa. Dad used to give it little kisses.such a sweet little girl. My dad and I have always had a soft spot for animals. He was so happy when my partner and I took our new rottweiler puppy and our new kitten up to visit him and his partner recently. You could see the look of love on his face as he cuddled them. And they instantly loved him. Animals and humans bring joy to one another.
You all better listen or else, you all hear me?!!! Rainbows are awesome, I have one now a female and when she has her eggs you better watch your ass. If I put my hand in the cage it's like dooms day, any other time she's fine,...and this is my pet lol! Rainbows don't take shit off anybody even the hand that feeds them ha!
What a magnificent colour...how much a pair cost ..where they are available...... I'm from India Goa. Lovely entertainment ..what is their favourite food?
I'll give you a sensible answer mate. .I'm Australian and these beautiful birds are native to my area so I've fed wild ones by hand.im not sure how you'd go about getting a good pair in India but as long as you look after them i wish you good luck in getting a pair. We used to feed them wild parrot seed mix . When I was a kid in the late 70s and 80s we used to give them bread and honey. But I'm told that it's not good for them. Times change and research reveals new things. Nectar from flower blossom is one of their families. At night time here you hear them going beserk over certain wild blossoms. I've seen well over 300 in one big tree competing for Nectar. I've fed them peices of fruit such as Apple and grapes. They have a bit of a sweet tooth as you can see. But please keep it all natural and not artificial. They are very beautiful but have a nasty bite and attitude ,so the more time you spend handling them from a young age the better. I wish you good luck in your quest my friend. Greetings from Queensland Australia.😀
They DO NOT EAT SEEDS. They need fruit and a special of powder mixed with water. They Drink it like nectar with their tounge. People who feed them seeds make them very sick
Phillippa Spring not true. I work with them at a zoo. Although you are correct that it’s their primary source of food (nectar and fruit) lorikeets will also eat insects and seed. It’s not bad for them and can actually stimulate them to start mating :)

I found mine on the ground in the middle of a busy road on a really hot day when he still only had grey-brown fluff. They are tough little beasts
My lorry does exactly the same. I love it
I hear a hello in there!

What do u do? Go in the cage with a roomba? Not hard, talk to them and change the paper, no qualms with my lori
I swear mine could tell when I was touching the cardboard box he had chosen to sleep in from three rooms away.
Amizing dreem
This is my lorikeets favourite RUclips video I’ve been playing it to him for over 12 months. He watches it just before he goes to bed every night.

matt cullen they don’t eat seeds tho
@@fluffycorn7506 - They shouldn’t, because it isn’t good for them, but they do if someone gives it to them.
Totally understand the noises have a flock of lorikeets coming in to my veranda daily ❤
@philippa spring Do you clip their nails ? Is that a concrete perch in the video? Does it help with the nail filing/trimming?
They are fighting lol (maybe)..
I can hear good guy, or good boy and the noise sounds like laughing.... Our rainbow lorikeets are talking too.....

Yeah, birds aren't pets. They should be free to fly and not in cages. It is sad.
those lori's can live 30 years normally so and those birds live normaly in a jungle so they climb more then fly
