Yeah, not getting an Illidan cinematic in Legion was a crime. I mean, he gets to pull the ultimate Maiev move and put Sargeras in prison. If anything in all of WoW deserved a cinematic, it was this scene.
Illidan: saves the world and his people Night elves: How dare you gain more power to save us! Monster! Illidan: plan to wipe out his race for outcasting him and being ungrateful Night elves: *surprise Pikachu face*
Since I was little, I thought that Illidan was an evil character because his shape was like a devil. But since I was an adult, I understood that Illidan was a true hero in this game.
I think he was actually power hungry in the original W3, then a lot of his story was retconned for WoW to turn him into a selfless saviour who would sacrifice himself for others. He's not a mage when you encounter him in W3 for the first time. He's already a Night Elf Demon Hunter and was known for working with demons when Malfurion releases him. Where were his arcane abilities at that point in time? He didn't have anything arcane. His abilities were to mana drain and to form an immolating fire around himself, which are both fel magic. Mana drain later become void magic in WoW. You, as the player, help him to consume the Skull of Gul'dan, which unlocks his Metamorphosis and turns him into this version of Illidan we know that is more Fel Demon than Night Elf.

I've been playing WoW for almost 7 years now, and I'm grateful for videos like these. Thank you, Althelarius. :) I'll be buying the WC3 once I get my new computer, come tomorrow.
This was so scary for me, when i played this as kid. And mission with orcs when infernals fall down from the sky. I miss those characters, they are weak when you look some dragons, God's, demons. But they are strong with army or alliance with some other race, or taking the power from evil. Now i feel like i am that hero, and Jaina, Tyrande and Thrall are like some God's in that world. They need to get fear into players.
Supposedly they gave the cinematics a bit better resolution/audio, but minimal. The cutscenes that follow after each mission are indeed new. Nowhere near like what Stratholme was in 2018, but it is what it is I guess. But maybe we'll get some patches in the future.
Falrok Lakro but that’s good, this game has a lot of wrongs but please let’s not bitch randomly at things. They simply support more resolutions than before, the cinematics are fine.
@Irfan Alddin I don't think it was ever said that it was a mistake, and Illidan also didn't die at the end of Warcraft 3. However, Arthas vs Illidan originally was meant to be a CGI cinematic like the one at the start of this video, but they didn't have enough time. Blizzard has stated in the past that their biggest regret from that is that people thought Illidan had died, because the CGI cinematic would have shown that he survived.
In WoW Burning Crusade Illidan is alive so he was not cut from his crotch through his chest in WC3, however he died at Black Temple in Burning Crusade. Later they retconned this and he never died before so they can make Legion story. They said it was a mistake because Illidan was never meant to die and it was a CGI/cutscene poor quality problem. However in Reforged is so cheap they didn't bother to correct this and Illidan dies again, lol full circle.

I think because Azshara is serving the Old Gods and Burning Legion exists to wipe out the Old Gods and the Void. It can also because of their common hatred to the night elves and the fact they know Illidan from War of the Ancients. I am not sure though.
idk really but vashj was handmaiden of azshara. she was loyal to death to her but azshara tried to get tyrande as majordome and she was jaelous about that. maybe some of the highborn that became naga that day feel betrayed and followed vashj? its not clear afaik.
